This series documents my attempt to follow Somerset's longest river from its source, all the way to the sea. In this final instalment I'm faced with my most dangerous obstacle yet; the muddy river banks of Bridgwater!

In this British wild camping expedition I attempt to travel from source of Somerset's longest river, all the way to the sea! To make things more difficult I've challenged myself to stick as closely to the river as I possibly can, trying to never leave its banks. Is this possible? I have absolutely no idea. But I'm incredibly curious to find out! #wildcamping

This is a prove for my theory that you don't have to venture far into the wilderness to experience an adventure. If your equipment is just suitably inadequate, an adventure can be had right at your doorstep. Well played, Ed!

Yep. Very low-carbon trip this one. He even used a 2nd-hand boat. The man is a model for us all. I've been all over the world in the past but these days find just as much entertainment can be had without travelling very far at all. There is an amazing amount to see in the UK, if you just go for a random walk or bike ride, and even more in France/Belgium/Netherlands/Germany.

25 meter (from the shores, I guess?) would have helped a lot during day 1 and 2, which also means day 4 would have been easier and it's likely he wouldn't have needed the shortcut. It's possible some spots would have ruined the platinum goal however.

You don't really need those in the UK - just find a church or a house - one is rarely very far away :-) But I guess a Katadyn bottle or similar would be quite convenient on a river-based trip.

It's really heartwarming to see the local folk willing to help a guy out with some water. A lot of people where I live have lost the sense of hospitality and community, and they'd probably slam their door in your face unfortunately.

I loved this series! Even though you didn't follow the river at all points you still completed your reason for doing the journey. I think it made it better that you had to get off at certain points and walk on foot. Plus the people you met along the way like Carlos and the elderly gentlemen. Quite a representation of life. It is so much more about the journey than the actual destination. All the best to you!

I have a weakness for outdoorsy shirts. "Keep life wiggly" is definitely an outdoor shirts. I also have a fondness for rivers, especially getting up close and personal with their sources that are very, very rarely where the map says they are, let alone easily accessible. I look forward to seeing what's next on your channel, and to wearing my "keep life wiggly" shirt the next time I go up into the Georgia mountains and pick another random, mid-tier river to find and document the source of.

As someone who's spent all 24 of their years living in a desert, it's been absolutely magical watching the Parrett grow from a barely-noticeable trickle into a huge, spanning river. I've always been in awe of how much water rivers move and I've always wondered how they could possibly start (like, where does all the water come from!?), and it's so weird and cool to learn that the water is just kinda there, coming from nowhere and joining and growing the river and turning it from a plant-ridden brook to full-on navigable water.
