Tip: Remove the two carbon brushes and scuff the the sides up with fine emory cloth or sandpaper to remove the grime buildup, otherwise the brushes will get stuck again in the open position. Also stretch the two small carbon brush springs just a little to restore the spring compression.

I've seen several of your videos on using 12 v motors (window, cooling fan, starter and wiper) as generators and was wondering if any of these might be able to be used to charge the 12 v battery on a gas powered bicycle that draws approximately 15 amps at peak usage. A window motor would be the ideal size but I could make any of them work. The output of the "generator" would be the primary factor. Rewinding to get the right output wouldn't be out of the question either. Just wondering if it's even feasible. 12 V DC 15-20 amps is my draw, I can rectify and regulate if necessary so AC or DC would be fine. If not possible using existing 12 V motor do you have any suggestions as to how I might achieve this? Any response appreciated. Thank you.

No it is not possible. These random Indian guy electronics videos are just total bullshit. You cannot ever ever use a regular electric motor in reverse as a generator. What you need is a special very exotic kind of motor, like certain ceiling fan motors, ebike motors, or stepper motors that are very very rarely if ever found inside most countries AC appliances. What makes those motors special is that they have many many coils on the outside, or that you can use them basically so that the stator becomes the rotor, i.e. the outside rotates around the inside. Normally you only have two coils on the armature, and each generates considerably less than a volt at humane RPM. The more armature coils you have the higher the voltage you get if you put them in series. Those special kind of motors are very rare, but if you happen to find one, then chances are 9 out of 10 it will not have enough coils to charge a car battery. Ceiling fan motors are one of those rare exeptions where you will find more than 8 coils, like 12 coils sometimes more. So if you spin them at thousands and thousands of RPMs any of them will be able to charge a car battery. But you need to modify them with huge magnets that you have to glue on the outside, one for each coil. So strictly speaking, ceiling fan motors cannot be used as generators as well without basically rebuilding half the motor. It is just that they are one of the few types of motors that can be realistically rebuild at all, without compromising the power or integrity of the motor too much.

Conundrum is wrong. All DC motors can be turned into a generator. You need a charge controller, a capacitor possibly and a force to spin the motor.

Olá !!! Sr.Electron quando o senhor mostrou o motor desmontado eu não vi nenhum diodo retificador na parte interna , quase no final do vídeo foi feito a medição de corrente e também a medição de tensão , ambas as medições foram feitas com o multímetro na escala de corrente contínua , essa tensão de saída não seria uma tensão alternada e teria que fazer a medição com um multímetro de tensão e corrente alternada ???? a partir de 6:48 .

How did you measure the "40amps" you claim to get from this generator? 12x40=480 so you are generating 480W but still barely lighting a 55W bulb. No offence, I must have missed something.

Actually this video is related to one of my previous videos in which i tested a similar dc generator ( armature winding with same gauge copper winding ) by coupling it with a 4000RPM 1.5H.P trademill motor for conducting a short circuit test hence the 40 Amps Boast 😊
