As a mindblown 17-year-old I saw Eartha in the legendary Cave Theatre Restaurant of Vancouver, 1968. She sang it lying on her belly on the edge of the raised stage so that she was closer to the face level of the seated diners, pretty well as among them as possible. Such relaxed mastery of styling and intimacy of performance . . . man oh man, that was an initiation into that calibre of nightlife. Ah, Eartha, you brought us so much! Thank you! All these many years later it's still a clear memory, her lying there and warmly purring "I want to be evil, I want to be bad" to a captivated, entranced audience.

Jamila Brown Marlon Brando found his own daughter attractive, enough that he molested her. Having the pervert fancy you isn’t high praise. I think the idea of this song is that she's so innocent and pure, her mind simply isn't capable of thinking truly evil thoughts, no matter how badly she wants to. Thus, her idea of heinous depravity consists of silly things like throwing mud pies, shooting pool, and stepping on people's feet deliberately.
