At 4:16 white would be forced to jump. You cannot just back up a piece. If you aren't playing forced jumps there's no real strategy to the game. Forced jumps is regulation American Checkers.

You said that you “may not decide to make a capture” when you have your pieces on the side. But I thought the rules state you must make the capture if you can…?

force capture is a house rule which can be enabled or disabled. in other words its up to the players whether that rule is in play

@@deanokeller6886 Then there's no way to force a win. The only way one could win is playing against an idiot who didn't know not to push his piece in a position to be captured. Anyone else would have a drawn game.

If my opponent misses a jump, then I can take his piece for not jumping. Is that correct? And when I do take his piece for not jumping is it still my turn?

In tournament play, if you or your opponent forgets to jump, the person who forgets to jump loses.

@@nagazinafireworks7594 sorry that i answer a bit late haha if the opponent forgot to jump you cant take his piece, u can just force him to jump or leave it as it is but you cant take the piece.
