This is a gray area. The brutalities were basically created as a new feature for Mortal Kombat Trilogy. Due to memory limitations of the cartridge format, the releases of Ultimate MK3 on SNES and Genesis were stripped of some features of the arcade version that the format didn't have enough memory for, like the Animalities and Sheeva. They added in Noob and Rain and the Brutalities to try and "make up" for this since those things didn't take up as much memories with Noob and Rain just being additional ninja pallette swaps, and the Brutalities all ending the same way. The only reason these features were introduced via these versions "first" was because they released them a few months earlier than Trilogy. And they most likely did that because they knew that if they released those versions and Trilogy at the same time, people would skip those editions and go right for Trilogy. While not necessarily entirely bad games, I personally look at the SNES and Genesis versions as "Fake" Ultimate MK3. They are more like this weird amalgamation of aspects of UMK3 and Trilogy, but not actually either of those games in full. The only decent home port of UMK3 to come out back during the 16/32 bit era was for the Saturn. But that is due in large part to them opting to make Trilogy, which essentially a further upgraded version of UMK3.

My father stationed in Oceanside, Ca Camp Pendleton USMC. Brought home MKT for the N64. At age 8 Did my very first fatality ever with Raiden a proud father asked me what I did with my jaw dropped not knowing what I did. I’m 30 yrs old now and found out what That 8 yr old accidentally did. Taven was alive but pretty much encased in his stone. Daegon has been alive for thousand years, as he claims during konquest. All the others were alive. Fun-fact: blaze is so canon that he is seen in The Pit II stage during mk2

The best way to perceive MK timeline is through shujinko's own timeline: Shujinko was engaging the "konquest" during mythologies, his five years of training was during the first 3 MK. When he goes to outworld, happens MK4, and when he is one kakidogu from freeing Onaga, is during Deadly Alliance events(when scorpion is the champion of the gods). Shujinko fight Onaga during deception and is captured in outworld during Taven's konquest. Perfect timing

The trick to beat this game on any difficulty level is to keep jumping until the AI makes a move and then you move in to strike.

The AI on this game is relentless, they fuck you up without remorse. Luckily I managed to master Liu Kang and I was able to actually beat the ladder, even the hardest one with him... thanks to the limitless continues, as well lol

Easy way to beat the CPU: Pick a character that has a teleport. Jump back and kick. When u do that, 9 times out of 10 the CPU will throw their projectile attack. When they do, use the teleport attack and punish. I usually main Robo-Smoke, so I do the trick, then teleport punch, spear, then whatever combo suits you. Same thing with Scorpion & Human Smoke. Those 3 are the easiest for me to FLY through the game with! =]
