I would love to see a level 4 plate shootout between all of the major affordable brands. Putting them up against common threats civilians might see (M855/M193 out of a 20” barrel, 308 FMJ/hunting rounds from a 24” deer rifle, etc.) would be great, also.

Lol I actually just picked up this armor and carrier from Classic Firearms like a week ago. Its a great armor set and nice that the carrier comes with a few extras.

What pouches come off if you want to change the setup?

@@thomashalley7258 both back pouches are connected by the molly webbing and the same goes for the pistol pouches. The AR 15 front pouches are secured by Velcro inside a sleeve keeping them snug and secure. The side pouches are integrated into the adjustable cummerbund save for I believe one on either side that is connected with molly. Also, the two outer AR 15 mag pouches can fit SCAR H or FAL .308 magazines. I quite like it, pretty comfortable. Might get another one in tan.

You should shoot the ceramic plates on the outside edges to see if they stop bullets around the edge. Most ceramic 10x12 plates only have 8x10 coverage.

I wear a carrier daily and was using a Shellback carrier but recently switched to the condor vanquish because of the QD cummerbund and it makes a huge difference. Take off the carrier doesn’t feel like a chore and there’s no Velcro tearing up my uniform shirts. The condor also comes with very good removable mesh cooling panels.

I just bought a Guard Dog plate carrier with the quick release buckles and they seem to have fixed the issue with the QR pulls. They now have a piece of cord with a knot in the end with heat shrink around it.

I buy plates in 3 packs and I still like the level 4 plates from Botach you reviewed a while back I beat the bleeping bleep, out of that plate and it stopped everything. To me the NIJ rating just costs me more a lot more, but I get it. I got 3 for around $300 ish and I did get 2 more sets for family and they are light.

Because others are lighter, have multi-curve instead of single curve, and have stand alone protection across the entire 10x12 face, instead of only 8x10 guaranteed protection like on this plate. If you look at it closely, you can see an outline around the whole thing where the ridge starts and stops

Because this company isnt making their components in America. They are getting them from overseas and assembling the armor here and say “it is made in America”. It is not certified, if you want quality certified plates, RMA, Hoplite, Highcom Armor, Dfndr armor are some I will recommend.

Get expensive level 4 in the front, steel in the back. Not only does it provide great balance on a carrier, it's common convention to not have a neck or chin protruding backward and rearward over the back lest you have bigger problems.

i would like to see anyone other than me buy some SPT (special rifle threat) RMA armor, at about $300, with a steel plate behind it. just the SRT is said to take all but M855 and 30-06AP. will the steel stop them after the (umplgbefg) alphabet plastic? might stop the back face deformation too.

The PE SRT wouldn't slow the M2AP down enough to likely stop M2AP..

It comes with that prism optic. Its the Primary Arms 1x micro prism. Not sure you can buy the mount separately and even if you could, its an ACOG pattern mount. It won't work with 99% of other red dots out there.

How would these plates stack up against the RMA 1155? I like the weight of the Guard Dogs but it looks like the BFD is not as good as the 1155's. Videos I've watched on the 1155's look like the BFD is a lot less, just wish they weren't 8lbs. I know what everyone says, but yeah being on a budget especially right now is a real thing. My heart tells me to go with the 1155's, but my back says Guard Dog.

​@@BobJones-gp1xy how old are you? i bought some 8 lb plates for $99 on sale from RMA. they are great , for the people that will be motionless during defense. i think i may go for a lighter plate. they have a SRT (special rifle threat). it goes up to, not including green tip or 30-06 AP. $275 or 2 and a carrier for $650. bad news is M855, good news is 2.5 pounds. so i may choose the model 1199. good for 30-06 AP, 5 lbs, 1/$800.
