In This Video the British Guy (AKA Mr H and friends) Tried U.S. Potato Chips & Snacks (WOW - So Different to Ours !) #Chips #MrHandfriends #PotatoChips Did you enjoy the video? let me know by dropping a LIKE !! :) In this Video I will be trying U.S. Potato Chips / Corn Puffs and LOTS of SNACKS ! (FOR THE FIRST TIME!) A potato chip (often just chip, or crisp in British and Irish English) is a thin slice of potato that has been either deep fried or baked until crunchy. They are commonly served as a snack, side dish, or appetizer. The basic chips are cooked and salted; additional varieties are manufactured using various flavorings and ingredients including herbs, spices, cheeses, other natural flavors, artificial flavors, and additives. Potato chips form a large part of the snack food and convenience food market in Western countries. The global potato chip market generated total revenue of US$16.49 billion in 2005. This accounted for 35.5% of the total savory snacks market in that year ($46.1 billion) Fritos is an American brand of corn chips and dipping sauces that was created in 1932 by Charles Elmer Doolin and produced since 1961 by the Frito-Lay division of PepsiCo. Unlike the similar tortilla chips, which are made from cornmeal and use the nixtamalization process (known as masa), Fritos are made by deep-frying extruded whole cornmeal. It is one of two brands representing Frito-Lay along with Lay's. The Frito Company was born in 1932 at the height of the Great Depression. The family of Charles Elmer (C. E.) Doolin (1903-1959) owned the Highland Park Confectionary in San Antonio, and Doolin, twenty-eight at the time, wanted to add a salty snack to their repertoire. He responded to an ad in the San Antonio Express. The ad, placed by Gustavo Olguin, listed for sale an original recipe for fried corn chips along with an adapted potato ricer and nineteen retail accounts. Doolin bought the small business venture for $100, and began to manufacture the chips in his mother’s kitchen with the help of his father, Charles Bernard Doolin; mother, Daisy Dean Stephenson Doolin; and brother, Earl Doolin. These four founders made up the first board of directors, with Charles Bernard Doolin serving as the first chairman. So there are literally thousands of different snacks, and your viewers won't even know all of them if people start sending you regional stuff. Which is actually fun. She'd always get a bit salty with me when she realized I had sour cream and onion and not bbq flavored chips. WOW! You've gotten so many of my favorites. The other day I was at the store and found the pork skins in a new flavor, Queso, and it was actually pretty good. And yeah, there's not gluten in potato chips because there's no wheat. If there's gluten in potato chips they're likely lying about the potato part. If you take a heated can of chili, diced onion, and cheddar cheese, and mix it with the corn chips, you have Frito pie, which is really good! My husband prefers his Frito pie with the chili cheese flavor. Quinoa is pronounced keen-wah. Don't worry, we all make the Goldfish swim when nobody is watching.😂

Ranch flavored corn nuts are the best... flaming hot cheetos with lime are my favorite... a nice dip for the fritos is... on a plate put a layer of cream cheese, cover with no bean chili, top it off with shredded cheddar cheese and microwave or put in the oven until the cheese melts and dip the fritos in that...

The pork skins (usually called skins as far as I'm concerned) also come in BBQ flavor. And when you make your way through that bag you will run across some more solid, hard ones. Plano, TX is pronounced 'Play No', and Frito Lay's has a big factory up there. Most big national food companies have factories all over to accommodate regional markets. If they didn't then logistics would cost them a fortune as the U.S. is so big. Also, the best way to eat Fritos is to make 'Frito Pie'. Throw fritos in the bottom of a bowl, cover with shredded cheese, pour hot chili over the top, and top with chopped onion, chives, sour cream, etc.... (I tend to use the Chili Cheese Fritos for my Frito Pie as it adds another layer of flavor.)

A trend we like, in America, is to take those chips and use it in meals and salads. For example: any recipe that calls for bread crumbs, replace it with crushed Cheetos (any type). I love rolling raw chicken breasts in raw scrambled egg and then cover in crushed Cheetos, bake it, till cooked through. Doritos and Fritos are great to add a crunch to tossed salads and soups and chowders and chili.
