Not really that hard if you're reading as you grow your collection. If you buy, just for an example's sake, 10 volumes a month, and you read 5 of them before buying the next ten, then you're sort of always on top of it. If you buy 500 manga and then try to read all of it you're in for a painful time.

@@gentlemansoup there might be some real reason but I would say it is due to two facts. One, in japanese they sell a lot of Manga and light novels and can't compare to the west. So they might need to save up by doing it smaller. My second guess would be because it being smaller fits everywhere. It won't take much space and given how most japanese tend to read Manga and other books while on train it makes life easier for them than carrying around a heavy and large book

This was in my recommended. Cool video, and you seem like a very wholesome dude. Subbed. Edit: After finishing the video, I have some thoughts. Firstly, awesome to see Black Cat! Kentarou Yabuki is absolutely my favorite manga artist ever, so it's cool to see. I still need to actually buy the series, tho, but I do have all of his other main ones. Speaking of his other series, I would certainly recommend To Love Ru, Darling in the Franxx, and Ayakashi Triangle. I mean To Love Ru is the most shameless ecchi harem romcom trash out there, so if you dont like that, then totally ignore my recommendation for it lmao. Much to my joy, Seven Seas just 2 days ago announced that they snagged the license for the Darling in the Franxx manga. No spoilers, but I can say that it definitely did not end in a flaming dumpster fire like the anime did and do recommend it. And then as for Ayakashi Triangle, it's just ecchi non-harem romcom trash. I love it! Clearly Saki Hasemi (To Love Ru's writer) rubbed off on Yabuki in all the right ways. That being said, Viz got the license for this series instead of Seven Seas, and sadly we may not even get an English physical release. I own all of Yabuki's works in Japanese anyway, but still sucks. And I have all 3 of these series together on one shelf, the Kentarou Yabuki shelf, something that you did as well for your favorite creators. Ugh, KZbin cut off the 2nd half of my comment, so I will summarize because retyping it all would be too much work. Basically, I find your use of alphabetization interesting. I currently sort solely by series preference (with the exception of the Yabuki shelf), a seriously impractical method that will most likely break down when I have anywhere near the amount of volumes you have (I currently have only like 150.), given that I have to rearrange them whenever I change my preferences. Some amount of alphabetization or unchanging sort method seems inevitable, but I will fight it for as long as possible. I also find your splitting by English publisher interesting. I wouldnt have done it that way. tldr for whole comment: I recommend To Love Ru, Darling in the Franxx, and Ayakashi Triangle. Kentarou Yabuki is my god.

I definitely recommend anything by Fumi Yoshinaga, I think you would like her series called Ooku. It details the idea of what might happen to Japan during the feudal era if a virus suddenly started only attacking males, going into depth what that might do to the economy, the government, and society. It won a lot of awards in Japan including the Tezuka Osamu Cultural Grand Prize in 2009. The series completed recently, with 19 volumes in total. Some people find the translation off putting (in the original, she used archaic Japanese to obviously convey a specific time period, so English translators decided to use Early Modern English ala Shakespeare style), but if that type of thing doesn’t bother you it’s a great read.

Hopefully we get an announcement by the end of the year of which new series is next. The art in Gantz definitely deserves the Delux treatment, specially in the last 10 volumes when you have a bunch of 2 pages panels showing the city, area and all the destructions and stuff going on, but even early stuff like the Buddhist Temple Arc have some amazing panels, the massive Osaka Arc and, though brief, the brutal Rome Arc, they would look gorgeous in a Delux.

So my recommendations in case you haven't had them before that I didn't see in the collection are: Psyren, Astra Lost in Space, Kaguya Sama Love is War and That Time I got Reincarnated as a Slime. I have some vol of these on my very small 100 vol collection and I love them. Thank you for sharing this literal heaven on earth!

Here are a couple of series that I didn't see in your video. Kingyo Used Books (a series about a bookstore specialized in rare and out-of-print manga, with shout-outs to real series without any kind of masking) is pretty good; unfortunately, Viz Media stopped releasing it after the first four volumes (out of 17 published in Japan), most likely due to licensing cost. However, since it's more like short stories surrounding the bookstore, its employees and its customers, the volumes are standalone. As a result the story doesn't feel like incomplete, like it'd be the case with a serial. Another personal favorite of mine is Genshiken (about a university anime club), at least the original series. (The sequel, Genshiken Second Season, isn't to everyone's tastes, as the anime club becomes a girl-centric yaoi-and-cosplay club and does drag at the end. But characters from the original series do appear from time to time.)

If you haven’t read it yet I’d recommend Record of Ragnarok it is a fighting manga of gods of different religions vs figures of humanity in a 1v1 fights to determine if humanity can live for another 1000 years. It’s fights are really unique from what I’ve read thus far. I’d give it 2-3 volume read as most people from the subreddit found fight 2 to be the hooker for them. The english release is in Spring 2022 I believe and if it’s not your cup of tea that’s totally fine. Great collection!

I love seeing the Pokémon. I found out they are only doing 10 collector's (it comes out in October). I'm thinking it's because it jumps into B/W and B2/W2. There's only 5 volumes for B/W and will only be 4 for B2/W2, but the 4th won't come out until July 2021. I've only read to half way of volume 2 of Pokémon, mainly because I want them all before I start really reading them. And I got distracted by Attack on Titan Before the Fall (A fantastic series by the way) and Given and some other mangas and books. But I just recently started buying manga so I don't have a lot

I am always amazed at people's collections. I don't have the room for so much sadly, so my is small. I am trying to get the 3 in 1 Gantz because I didn't finish collecting it when it first came out (super tight budget is yet another reason) as well as thinking planning the same thing with Ranma 1\2.

I definitely recommend case closed/detective Conan, if you haven’t heard of it! It’s a super super long series about a high school detective turned into pint-sized sleuth after witnessing a shady deal between some evil organization! Now, he’s trying to get his real body back- with clues a many, and suspects abound, one truth prevails! Haha 😂 The mysteries are usually one-off stories, but there’s the over arching plot of defeating the men in black- the bad guys who turned the detective, jimmy/Shinichi, into a kid. They’re really well-crafted, and they usually give enough clues to let the audience solve the mystery too! And I also recommend the English dub of the anime series, even though they Americanize a lot of names & places lol. It’s really funny, and the voice actors are so good!
