The Costa rican varient of P. dovii have by far the most blues in them than the other varients be it the Honduran or the Nicaraguan. As far as the managuense goes i too love the regular ones more than the gold morphs.

Well I've made an executive decision 😂 I've got a few more months before my daughter gets out of the military and we move... But when I do I'm getting a pair of jaguars ♥️ that's going to be a long time away, but that's what I'm shooting for 😁 Until then I'll keep coming to your channel and learning!! Another great video Scott really enjoyed it. I hope you and Liz are having a very blessed weekend!! Thank you for sharing!!♥️💚🌿🐟🌿🙏

Let’s be honest 90 percent of people who own dovii can’t really house them , jags are better but there tight in a 6x2x2

I had a jaguar I took out of a 500 gallon tank in a bar that was easily 20” long and probably all of 22”. homed it in a 180 for 2 days while I found it a home. It was like keeping a full grown Oscar in a 20 gallon long

Both awesome cichlids but has to be the jag for me, they are just stunningly beautiful, I have a male, he’s pushing about 13 inches now and I just love him, when people see him they are amazed and awestruck how big and beautiful he is , I know that there’s dovi keepers out there that will disagree but that’s the beauty of fish keeping, everyone has their own opinion and favourite fish. Best wishes from the uk to you Scott and liz 🇬🇧👍

Dovii and Jag are my two favourite aquarium fish, with the Dovii being my absolute favourite! I keep both species, and am fortunate to have a fish room that can house several large tanks. Over here in Australia, both Dovii and Jag aren't particularly commonly available, but they do come up for sale online from time to time. Your fish are magnificent, Scott, and, like you, I prefer the traditional or normal variant of both species. Keep up the good work, brother.

awesome video! i got myself a RTM parachromis pair recently hoping to see some breeding! hoping one day to ''level'' up my tanks and be able to host jags/doviis! in my opinion the RTM male does remind me a little bit of the jaguar in the stage he is in atm, not as good looking but close! and the rtm female oh my god... stunning :D

I agree with you, Scott. The Jaguar is easily my favorite of the two. I'm not sure a standard 150g will work long term being only 18" deep, but I'd be absolutely comfortable with the standard 24" deep 180g. Those dovii, much like the bass, just get too big for what I want in my fishroom. I mean, if you want to do them right, you really need a tank that's 8' to 10' wide and 3' deep so they can turn around without rubbing the glass. How do you feel about height? 30" should be enough for both species, right?

Passed up a pair of Jags a couple months ago due to lack of room for that size tank. Huge suck! Can’t wait to move into a new home soon so I can upgrade.

There's another type of managuensis called the "Lago Xiloa", I'm guessing it's something to do with the collection point. They look a bit different, cichlid overload has got a pair. A nice variation that's worth looking at.

I have a 5ft 100 gallon acrylic tank with a single male Jaguar. He is currently 12 inches or so. Is this enough room long term for him? 5ft x 18 inches x 20 tall.
@MarkDrisch3 жыл бұрын
Had both of them, neither were full adults when I decided to rehome them, but even though I love em both, once I have a big tank again, I'll be picking up Dovii. Can't beat their personality in my opinion. Also, the blue is absolutely gorgeous.

I hope you read this comment. I know people say hybrid cichlids is messing up the fish industry. I did not plan on this happening. My male Green Texas cichlid and jaguar cichlid female created hybrids about 8 months ago and those fish are beautiful. Not enough information on them. I sold some and kept some as of right now one of my male hybrids is breeding with my other female jaguar. Could you speak on how you feel about hybrids and I'm not planning this.

Can I house a jag, red terror, green terror, tiger Shovelnose and 2 bichirs in a 180?
@battlerap1ufc262 жыл бұрын
So I know alot of fish keepers don't like hybrids but I didn't intend on this happening but my jag and green texas cichlid breed and they came out beautiful last year. As of 2022 my jag and wolf dovii cichlid mated so I'll see what how they turn out.
