I started going grey at 17, was naturally brunette, changed to blonde at 35 to hide my grey, just turned 41 and I’m done with dying my hair 😂 I have 2” of growth and I’m hoping it grows out faster. People have also said, you’re going to look old...🤦🏼‍♀️ I really don’t care what anyone says now, and I’m excited to see my final grey pattern when it’s grown out. Glad I found your channel 👩🏻‍🦳🤍

My only regret about growing out my gray/silver was that I didn’t do it sooner because I listened to hairdressers tell me it would make me look older. Not true. Once I made my mind up about letting the dye go it didn’t matter to me what anyone had to say about it. I love my silver hair.

My hairdresser keeps telling me the same thing. You are too young. But when I see Grey on others I am like look how pretty and she insists on not for me. And you know what I realized that it’s actually best to go Grey early in life. Just my opinion Bc you can adjust to it and enjoy it and style it and do many things to it.

The gray hair complements your eyes so well! I also love how you did "duo palette" look with your eyes being naturally gray, your natural gray hair is on the lighter side and you matched them with gray shade eyebrows. In contrast your make up is nude bronze?.. You did put some thought into it and it works great for you! This is a great example of how someone should evaluate what they naturally have and come up with low maintenance look that works best for them!

Just starting my gray journey. I flew to California to have my cousin, who is crazy awesome with hair color, lift my colored hair to platinum. Oh, Heather, it'll be glorious! My hair is wavy/curly & the new texture fits right in with that. We're already *used to* dealing with thirsty strands. I let mine grow out quite a few years ago. Hello, your hair looks great. Very well said, I love your advice thank you for sharing your pros and cons. I'm on my silver grey journey, 6 months so far and I love it! So far I haven't gotten any negative feedback, I guess it's because I have light brown hair and the colors are blending together, now I have silver, medium brown and light brown hair all dancing simultaneously with each other, it's truly beautiful and it feels healthier as well. I can't wait to see my hair when it all grows out.🤗❤

"I don't have to color my hair anymore" - this is the biggest advantage! After years of dealing with roots/whole hair dying, it gets so tiresome. Plus the healthy aspect. You look very young for grey hair and I think it looks fab. I absolutely love grey on young women (those that do it on purpose - with a young face it looks so good). I went grey at 56 and haven't regretted it at all. Embrace the grey! One great tip!!!: I followed one woman on UTube who only colored the roots as the rest of the hair turned grey, such an easy, great transition. Even my hairstylist said it was the best way to go natural and recos this method to other clients I wear my grey proudly - at my age I think it's just fine to be your age and not be ashamed. Plus I have a young spirit and cute groovy haircuts really help.

I'm 56 now and into my 2nd yr natural. your natural color is so much more flattering to your face and I didn't realize that until people started asking me if I had gotten cosmetic work done because my skin was glowing. it actually had nothing to do with my skin it had more to do with using unnatural hair dye when my age and face needed my softer and natural gray hair.

Fluidx808 May I ask who you followed on utube who only coloured their hair at the roots to make the transition easier? Because I've decided to go gray at 48! Thanks so much.
@Fluidx808

@@laurencemattioli2277 It was a couple of years ago and now I can’t find the vid anywhere! Ugh! Anyway the concept is pretty easy. You can do it yourself or go to a stylist and ask them to do it. First off I was dying all of my hair, since most of it was already going grey, and would touch up the roots as need. I stopped dying all the hair and started just doing the roots… as the roots grow out, keep colouring them. In the meantime, the rest of the dyed hair will start washing out. There will at some point be a bit of a transition line between freshly dyed roots and the natural hair below. However it looks much, much better than having grey roots to deal with and the dyed roots do wash out. Also note I have medium to shortish layered haircuts so that helped to make it look interesting. As I said, my stylist thought it was an awesome way to go! She wouldn’t dye all of my hair grey due to the damage it would cause, so this was the best option. Good luck! I have absolutely no regrets going grey :).

I decided to grow my (90%) grey hair out about 3 years ago and it's the best thing I've ever done for myself as well! It is so freeing! I'm older than you, 53, and I started going grey at 17, pregnant with my first child, but I'm still kind of young to be this grey. Lily you, I get compliments every day! I have very short hair and people like that also. I especially get compliments when I use the joico purple shampoo and let it sit for a few minutes before rinsing, it leaves the white part of my hair a light lavender color. I get told at least 3 times a week that I look like jaime lee curtis! I wish! Lol

I've also had a lot of people say not to let my hair go grey, that it will make me look old, including my hairstylist. I'm 55 and still get carded occasionally buying wine. My daughter is constantly telling me to go for it. I'm gonna go for it. I've been thinking about it for 5 years. You look GREAT, AND youthful. I notice when women take care of their health, keep their weight down and keep their hair healthy, the grey is not aging, it just looks really interesting. Thanks for sharing your journey!

I also got tired of my skunk stripe , and decided to go grey. I had my hair coloured for years an auburn shade. My stylist and I thought about it and she put white highlights in my hair using the old method of a cap and crochet needle, and cut it real short. I loved it !!!! Felt like a punk rock star.... my grey would poke through and gradually it's all grey . I still get it cut quite short as I love the no nonsense about it, but....i think the bright white looks better than the grey on me....this washout colour you use has a platinum colour, would love to give that a go to see if more white would show up....i have a pink colour but haven't been brave enough to try it...lol ..love your hai and makeup

I colored my hair for nearly 20 years. I'd gotten to a medium brown color. I did DIY colors from Sally's. I decided to grow out my silver hair after Hurricane Harvey. Best decision ever! I did go ahead and use a color remover product first. It said that it didn't have any bleach in it. It still gave me hot roots. I toned it with some demi that was silver/gray color. Nothing ever since then. My hair looks like an ashy light brown/dark blonde. I like the different streaks of pure silver that have appeared! I'm super lucky that mine stays ashy naturally. I don't need any purple shampoo or toner. Recently, I've thought of trying some fun colors from Guy Tang via his demi products. They don't leave a bad line of demarkation. He has so many options!

I am on board with this. I am about 75% grey on top and front, and 35% underneath. I have medium brown hair. I have colored my grey hair for 20+ years. It is very obvious after a month of grow out, as I have a harsh line of silver on one side and brown on the other at the top of my head. And I am short, so everyone can see it. With such a high percentage of grey, box color medium and light browns make me have reddish roots now (not a problem when I had less than 50% grey). I got blonde highlights twice within the last year. Then I got silver highlights. So, it will not be as obvious when my hair grows out. It is hard on the hair to bleach down to white when you have colored it brown so frequently, so I do have some damage to my hair now (not too bad because we bleached it a little more every few months and I deep condition). I use the purple shampoo and condition weekly. It will take 3 years to completely grow out, as my hair is medium-long. I will probably get a temporary toner when I get my hair cut every 2-3 months, just to keep the brassiness of the growing out highlights down for the 3 years. Since I had to get roots done at the salon (to prevent brassiness), it was very time consuming and expensive. I was SO tired of all of that. I do not have the beautiful full silver that you have. But I cannot wait to have my natural color and no longer have to color my hair.

I started my ,,grey,, transmission in April and cutted my long hair with bangs ..I must admit the beginning was to me the worst and since then I noticed my hair isn't that grey at all. I have a nice little Bob in pepper and salt (looks a lot like my natural cool pepper and salt colour ..I am half way now and it looks like a modern soft balleage..I am happy to have started this journey on time ..I am 58 years young and love it..!😀

You may very well be my new best friend! You are delightful! I’m a film actor and have colored my hair for ages in keeping with the roles I get. I’ve considered leaving my hair alone for quite some time, but then would get a film and need to high light for the role. I have hardly any grey at all but my natural hair color is suddenly quite a bit darker than the blond I’ve been doing. I seem to have a bit of grey primarily at my temples. My hair seems to “eat” the blond color and ends up dry and lifeless. So - I’m taking the plunge - I’m going to cut a few inches off and just leave it the heck alone. I enjoyed your video and would love to have coffee with you!

Thank you so much for this. Your hair looks amazing and I hope mine looks like this when mine grows out. I’ve had greys since I was 17 and I’ve been dying my hair for over a decade. At first it was fun, but now it’s a chore and not enjoyable anymore. I also love the idea of sticking it to the man... why do men get to look sexy with salt and pepper, and not women? Thanks for the courage

Thx for this video - it shocks me that some people are so funny about giving opinions and advice on how someone else SHOULD look to make themselves comfortable or happy - or sometimes we just have certain people comment that are not self aware and say rude things or just those poor miserables that try to feel better by tearing someone else down . And that can never truly be happiness - but you know this . I wish THEY did but life's a journey lol. God bless them poor dearies- because love doesnt treat others like this ! So lol this is my honest opinion - I agree with all your content in this video , I totally love your look and color of hair ! Nature is pretty awesome all on it's own. And your hair compliments your eyes and skin tone ! Yeah ! You are young and beautiful . 😁 and how we win isnt stepping on someone's head - we all win by bringing eachother up - do you know the brain cant differentiate who's talking ? So if someone said something bad about another person - well the brain internalize's and always think it's being said about its self . So everytime a person compliments you - that person releases dopamine & serotonin - unlike the person who cuts down a person gets a dose of cortisol , and other stress harmones and a bad sense of self - truly sad .

Honestly, this gray-hair journey has been a struggle because of the growth process. My grows so slowly and I always end up coloring it after four to seven months. I'm going to try to go through all of 2020 without coloring it, though. I've created a Pinterest board for inspiration and found a photo of a woman who resembles me. When I feel week I look at that photo and see where I could be in two or three years if I just leave it alone!

With my brown hair I use Brown Root spray to hide where my scalp shows through in thinner hair spots I don't see any ashy, silver sprays to use at the temples with Gray silver hair. There are hair toners and rinses but no, cover the scalp see through bits with finer hair. Do you know of anything that colours the scalp, bloke maybe using like an eyeshadow or mascara root product to color the scalp to blend with the hair. I'm not keen on the mascara hair products I find them a bit sticky.

I am at the point where I am seriously contemplating going gray. Have been dying my hair for 35+ years. The virus has kept me from being able to see my hairdresser and I have a good two inches of grey root. My hair is collarbone length I wouldn’t want to just grow it’s out. Will need to bleach it to do grey. What color did you use on your brows? I see the brow product in the box below. It’s on serious sale. Is it being discontinued
