The story of Almirola and Hamlin's race is that Almirola did indeed get the credit for winning the race, but apparently he never took the trophy for himself. I think it was on a Trackside Live he said that on, but that's what I recall from what happened post race. This was also the event that cause him to leave JGR, join Ray Evernham and JR Motorsports.
@EJCatoz5 жыл бұрын
That was a very dumb move by JGR to pull out Aric Almirola out of the car. They should of kept him in that car
@ashenwolf985 жыл бұрын
@@EJCatoz From what I've heard, that wasn't JGR's decision, it was the sponsor's.
@MattChaffe5 жыл бұрын
@@ashenwolf98 Yeah that might be the root cause, but JGR didn't prevent the driver switch from happening. Still, gave Hamlin and JGR a bad taste afterwards
@ashenwolf985 жыл бұрын
@@MattChaffe I really don't think the sponsor would've let JGR prevent it, honestly. It seems more likely that the sponsor specifically wanted Hamlin to drive the race and that was final, considering Hamlin had to fly all the way over to Milwaukee from Sonoma for one short night. It just doesn't seem like a logistical choice on JGR's part to put Hamlin in that car at all, which makes it very unlikely in my mind that JGR even remotely wanted it to happen.

For the last clip, Aric was so upset by what happened he didn't even take the trophy when it was offered too him. He basically told JGR too shove it up their ass and left the organization. Rockwell Automation wanted Hamlin in the car... no matter what. I think they even threated too leave the sport (or at least stop sponsoring JGR) if Hamlin didn't take over the car too finish the race. The funny thing is though... Rockwell left NASCAR sometime after this incident anyway. That whole incident pretty much proves how much say, power and pull sponsers have in NASCAR. Carl hit Ricky because Ricky's engine blew, dropping oil on the track, and since Carl was following him, he got into the oil causing him to lose control of his car.
