Great video, Learn German with Herr Antrim. Looking forward to seeing your next upload from you. I smashed that thumbs up button on your content. Keep up the awesome work! Your breakdown of modal particles was insightful. How do you recommend practicing these in everyday conversations to really grasp their nuances?

I think listening to how native speakers use them in conversation is the best way to really grasp them. Watch movies and listen to podcasts with these words specifically in mind. Then pause whatever it is and figure out how the word was used when you catch it.

"Ya huh!" always how I translate 'Doch'... [American] English is so sophisticated

We Americans have always been known for our sophistication.

ok, so when I hear Germans saying "Na ja..." that's the "ja," right?
@MrLAntrim5 күн бұрын
Actually that is an interjection. It is a kind of thing you say at the beginning of the sentence. Probably worth a future video to talk about these kinds of things, too.

My german hubby doesnt like to hear when I answer Ja, ja! 😅

Tone is everything. Most of the time "ja ja" is dismissive or sarcastic. This causes tension. I think he may have a point.
