Great work! I love how you are ,,easy" on him and don´t do corrections or any physical pressure on the dog. Rocky is still a baby :) still he seems very focused and ready to work.

Just watched the video showing Rocky work and wanted to compliment you on a nice job with the training. Hopefully his new owner will appreciate the hard work that has gone into the finished product!

He does, loves the dog.. One day with hard work he might get to the point he can produce the same quality in product that I can. Time will tell.. Thanks for noticing, ;-)

It looks like you're in New Mexico. I just moved here 2mths ago for Alabama and have been trying my best to learn how to train protection dogs (Dutch Sheperds) for over 10years. Any recommendations will be Greatly Appreciated!!!

I am looking around now for our next dog(s).. i want to change reed since i hae had GSDs for 30 years - and White swiss shepherd the last 7 years.. i would love a little bit smaller dog in height.. jut like 5 - 10 centimetres lower.. My male is 68cm from the ground and up.....and a huge boy... I have been looking at the Chodsky Pes - Bohemian shepherd.... very cool dogs.. but also the Dutchie.. and offcourse the malinios.. I am a bit wary because i have seen s lot of unstable belgian shepherds and the Malinois was actually taken out of service from the police and military for a year because of unstable dogs.. offcourse much depends on the trainer and owner but there was to many incidents. Would you say that the Dutchie has a little bit more stable nerves and mind that the belgians? I hear one place that if you have children in the family a dutchie is better than a mallie.. what is your experience there? I am a certified trainer and behaviorist and we have our own facility at our place so i do have the skills to own and train these dogs - but i would like to hear with thise who have owned and trained the breeds to get their opinion before i decide what to do. I am no fan of a lot of excessive barking and have managed to train all of our GSDs to be quite still when not trained to bark.. All without any e-collar or tools like that.. But i have seen breeds or breedlines with a very strong "mouth" and want t avoid that because i have somone around me with severe tinnitus so i need to control it.. So what can you tell me ?? LOVE ROCKY and how you train him.. compassionate and FAIR !!! :-D

You said you’re not doing any corrections at this point of age with Rocky. When do you Start making corrections in your training? Or how do you continue training?
@MarkFerrasci4 жыл бұрын
It's all about the dog.. With Rocky I think I started to sense it was time to start tightning down the screw. Expecting more out of him, and to start mixing in pressure into the program around 9 month's of age. Buddy started getting cocky around that time as well.. Again every dog is different, it's all about there nature and what they show you.. I find that the Dutchies I have, are pretty strong. As long as you do things right and add in the corrections leading into drive your fine.. At the right age and with the right mixure of pressure leading into drive.. Kind of NePoPo approach where you use pressure to bring up drive, that leads into releasing pressure with drive building into a reward..

@@ysbrandd Belgian and Dutch are always trained in French if trainer wants to stick with the line not GSD. You also don't want stranger walking up giving English commands to your protection dog.

@@user-qv8ys4ev6f mine was imported, him and all the Malinois were trained in Dutch. It depends upon where you buy them if your buying a green dog.
