Amazing video. I never even knew I was interested in old lifts & pigeons before I discovered this channel. _That's_ the magic of KZbin

Those motor gensets were almost completely submerged in bird poop. In 6 years, the poop level changed a lot. Indeed, the copper thieves didn't strip the copper out of the motors.

I would want a NBC suit before going near there. Thanks for showing this with the comparison shots. I'm amazed it is not pulled down by now.

I can imagine how "spongy" the motor room floor was haha. Thanks for risking yourself for another excellent video. Can't wait for Part 2!

It was like treading on layers and layers of cardboard, but even softer! Horrible!

I'm surprised the motor room wasn't ravaged by scrappers. Usually you'd see every ounce of copper stripped out.

In a large UK town like Bracknell how can a site lay derelict for 20 years without somebody redeveloping it ?
@Richardincancale3 жыл бұрын
I lived in Bracknell from 1978-80 - first job out of university. All the road names were in alphabetical order where I stayed so you couldn’t get lost. One of my friends lived in the single high rise apartment building - octagonal. It had a scary lift, metal walls, no indication of where you were, no windows, but too high to climb the stairs!
@mrmattandmrchay3 жыл бұрын
I think you mean that 20 storey hexagon building in Rectory Lane? That was very near to where my nan lived. Went there years ago, modern Kone lifts. Often wondered what type of lifts they once were. Interesting about the road names. Thanks for comment.

An old abandoned car park, you go inside to level 6 and see one of the lifts with a face.... totally not creepy at all.... ( 3:11 )

Imagine turning on the power and having a ride in those lifts. Of course it does come with the risk that there would be no one to get you out if you got stuck. 6 years is a lot of pigeon poo!

I could never of imagined how covered all those surfaces should be. I'd kick the birds out and shut the windows!

Is there possibility to get access to electric documentation (schematics, etc.) of this kind of lifts? Or any other type like those with relay based logic or Ward Leonard motor control system?

Hi, sorry, not from me :) I do have a very good idea on how they work (I will be producing a video soon), but essentially I'm an enthusiast. Probably better to find a facebook group dedicated for lift engineers.

What is hidden trap door?? Is they really exist in some lift room area???
@mrmattandmrchay3 жыл бұрын
The 'hidden trap door' is the secondary access doors where you see down to the lift lobby. Stand on one of these and it'd give way and you'd end up falling into the lift lobby! In the second visit, you can't see it because it's covered up. Good hazard perception is required in places like this.

the pigeons are there cuz they love the lifts as much as you do! be honest if you were a pidgeon you'd put your nest on a working lift if you can. so would I lol. I listen to motor rooms when I can't sleep.

@SeanBZA3 жыл бұрын
Probably council did not want to have the maintenance headache, as it is not their property, but was owned by 3M, so when they moved out they cancelled all the services. A case of who owns it, and who pays for upkeep, as likely the income from charging for the car parking was predicted to be less than the operating cost of upkeep of the lifts, and the rates on the land. Owner does no want to pay the difference, council does not want to pay, and only Interpark would have been getting money out of the deal, along with Otis. both would demand 24 hour security as well, adding to the expenses.
