After playing around with the brand new $20 (or $18) of content in Anniversary Edition, I wanted to bring you all my thoughts on the latest rendition of Skyrim. Is it worth the upgrade and is it enough to suck you right back into one of Bethesda's most popular open worlds?

If you're like me jumping from PS3 to PS5, I personally say absolutely. Even if you just get the $15-20 SE. I seriously forgot how awesome this game is, I'm playing my first run through in like 6 years. Going through all the twist and turns again like the first time has been just awesome. Not even kidding when I say its top 3 of all the games I've played this year.

I use a mod that saves executable files for the game into a folder every time it updates. So when mine updated I just deleted the new EXE and dragged my old version back in. I downgraded my game because everything Bethesda does is infinitely inferior to modders.

The farm is slightly more than what you presented, you can build it up and hire farmers to tend the crops, hire a steward, refurnish the house, and buy livestock. Then there is a pantry in the house where you can get everything you planted plus eggs and milk if you get livestock. I felt all told the content was worth $20, and I play on PC.

@@danix4883 Several! Look up the New player homes for the anniversary addition! There is wild horses and a unicorn you can find and tame as well... I have been enjoying the hell out of this update 😂 $19.99 well spent for me. The new armor textures are cool too. Oh and pets that don't get killed that can carry your stuff! Dude it's cool 😎 Is it girly of me to have a bunny following me and to ride on a unicorn? Sure is 😂 but it enhances my experience while I dungeon dive. - I got a bit excited 🤣

​@@danix4883 Not only that, several of them have a full questline to unlock the home (for free) and they all have very different themes. In addition to the Plantation which is farming focused, there's a pirate ship home (this one comes with unique pirate clothing too!), a vampire home, a necromancer home (also adds 3 of Mannimarco's artefacts as new unique items), a mage tower, a thief home (conveniently located in the Ratway by the Thieves guild), a dwemer ruin (build automatons to restore it for you!), a Nordic longhouse, and a cozy cottage. I honestly think it's worth it just for the homes alone. The diversity of all the new homes, armor sets, weapons, pets, and mounts is really great for roleplayers.

FYI: Dwemer spider control rod is in the vanilla game. You can pick one up during Hard Answers quest in the Dwemer museum. Not new content.

Talked my friend into getting it as well and we are completely lost in the game yet again. There's just something so immersive about Skyrim. you look up and 3-4 hours have gone by. really wish you could still get achievements with mods on. I just like the game to look more next-gen and it's sad I get penalized (no achievements) for upgrading a game they should have upgraded themselves. 60 frames are always nice though.

It has more homes than expected, still welcoming. I do love how we have an armor room showcase in each one. Also you must have a bug in game, I'm able to fast travel to my farmstead.

I was actually convinced I had installed something incorrectly when the fishing lady said, "here... it's all in this note" Like... this is official Bethesda content. Really confusing move to do it this way. Most moderately sized mod projects these days can at least figure out how to inject questlines with simple NPCs with custom voices.

The thing is, you can't include custom voice lines in an .esl plugin, which the vast majority of Creation Club DLC are. And the reason they're .esl plugins is so you can have them all running at the same time and not have to worry about your load order being too big for Skyrim to handle.

I had the most fun with the fishing dlc WITHOUT THE FISHING. I thought the quests were often very funny and warm, with one big surprise in the end. If you find fishing itself boring, just use a quick walkthrough (Camelworks guide on the 21 fishes is awesome) to pick up the fishes and then run the questlines normally.

You can turn off hardcore mode in Fallout NV. You just don't get a achievement by beating the game if you turn it off.

Yeah i got the ps5 and it already made loading fast. Loading is pretty much the same as when i upgraded. Hubby has gold edition on his and they cut out foliage to make it load faster! HA

I'd argue that just going with SE which already has a good amount of free mods is the better option than AE but if you really want the cc stuff although you can hardly call it free as the price is simply tacked onto the game then go for AE I hope they also made the fps more stable as well for all versions of the game.

my all time favorite class in skyrim is a necromancer, enchanter, smith, Breton or red guard, that uses only the scimitar you can make the sword so strong in the early game its great. use summons or a reanimated character for your long range attacks

I love the survival mode. It's really fun if you play as a warrior, since health regen isn't a thing you have to prep more for dungeons and melee fights are more tense. Was watching movement more carefully to side step like in a Souls game, while in base I'd just hold up my shield and block.

I bought this edition and I love it I was looking for a reason to start a new playthrough and this did it. With the addition of fishing to the survival mode I feel it's now finally balanced and fair. I'd say it's a solid bargain if you've never bought anything from the creation club even if you did the new content is worth the money. Is it worth the 50 dollar price tag maybe for new comers.

I first played Skyrim when it came out in 2011. Actually pre-purchased it. Played through four times before putting it down for other games. Just recently booted it up again on my Xbox and then found all these “new” things available and I’m now reenergized to play again. 0:50 as someone who played through the main quest and some mods with just FPS boost earlier this year the performance change is very noticeable. The framerate is pretty much perfect now at 60 fps. There used to be pretty consistent hitches in certain areas with FPS boost.

The one thing that frustrates me about anniversery edition is the fact that it automatically installs all creation club content when you load up skyrim. I want to play with house mods and new armor sets but i dont want zombies or arcane archery. The only way to disable these and handpick which creation club mods i want is to completely uninstall skyrim, redownload it, and then go into creation club and redownload everything i want to use and just never close skyrim again. Its very painful and i wish theyd allow me to uninstall creation club mods from the creation club menu.

Just got anniversary edition on switch. Been playing the same game since 2011 with only official content, no mods, no creation club. So this special plus anniversary content is very refreshing. Almost like another official dlc but not quite.

Traditional Elder Scrolls RPGs were good for you if you were the kind of player that preferred to go on their own thing. I've played Daggerfall, Morrowind, Oblivion, and of course Skyrim. Of those, the only one I beat was Skyrim. All of them I liked to roam around doing whatever. I did not need to be bludgeoned into doing something like a lot of RPGs demand you do.

One thing to note as someone that has no wifi since I had a house fire. If you download the creation club content online then go offline. You can still access all of it as I have been playing Skyrim at a family member’s right now.

My mods broke, so i decided to start a new vanilla run and bought the full AE, i have had a blast playing the new content, only thing that bummed me out was the voice acting which sound as something a mod on nexus would sound and not payed content.

TBH, I'm Quite disappointed with the auto update feature in AE. I haven't seen this train of thought being promoted by any content creator, but the truth is AE is mediocre and completely hindering to the modding community. And I don't mean the mediocre, carelessly curated handful of 90 second mods found in this version; but the actual nexus community who worked pretty much free of charge in Skyrim for the past ten years. The fact that the number one download in Nexus since AE release is the downgrader patch, and by a substantial margin (3x downloads compared to the next most popular mod in the month) really speaks about how the community feels about this. Most mod authors have moved on in their lives and in their projects, and what as a modding hobbie 5 years ago is now completely unrealizable due to present-day responsibilities. And they have every right to, by the way. But this implies the mods that, let’s be honest, made Skyrim what it is and kept it relevant for a decade have now lost support and will not be reworked into AE edition. This, in all truth, is not only a fatal blow to the community that kept the game alive, but to the game itself. In the video itself is mentioned how most of the content dilutes to simple gameplay experiences with a handful of exceptions, which are truly shameful when compared to the free mods put forth by the community. And this, added to the fact the modding community has literally dissolved, means the death of the game. If they had decided to keep it as an optional addon, or a separate version of the game discounted to previous game owners, none of this would've happened. But Bethesda chose the Blizzard way of sticking their greedy greasy corporate fingers in the community and directly intervene with the way the game had adapted to both its consumers and the current market. Mark my words, this will be the last release of Skyrim, for it can no longer rely on the people that kept the game alive for all these years: modders.

being able to teleport to your homestead would fit into the lore just fine. it could even be a quest line... turn your home into your central hub... sounds cool. shutting off fast travel and adding civil war mods is pretty cool. for the storm cloaks. new dragon born new imperial empire...

So, I’m an Xbox One S user. I went ahead and upgraded to Anniversary Edition. I’ve been playing Skyrim for years, and this is my first unmodded play through in a LONG time. I gotta say, Anniversary Edition is worth it. For what you’re paying for you get A LOT. The new creation club content is not thrust upon you immediately after exiting Helgen (like it once was). Now you have to discover it. Feels a lot better that way. It makes the courier visits exciting and interesting. All the new homes are awesome, with shockingly good acquisition missions. The new content is VERY cool. They fit well in the world without feeling contrived or out of place. The only thing that could make them better is if the missions had fully voiced npcs, but that’s asking a lot. If you’re on the fence, get the upgrade, and then start a new unmodded game. It made Skyrim interesting again.

Getting to replay this masterpiece with all of the additional content on PS5 has been nothing short of perfect. After several playthroughs since Skyrim’s initial release, being able to jump right in as a leveled, one handed - fire mage at the level needed for the “Good stuff” to commence without the tedium of a having to re-live a first time-esque playthrough, all while running at 60FPS on my PS5, is a dream.

I only played through the main quest 10 years ago... And playing through that again, plus all the DLC and the creation club content for the first time has been such an amazing experience! I'm really happy with my purchase so far!

If I upgrade from Special Edition to Anniversary Edition on Xbox One S is the placement and density of bushes and grass going to change? My understanding is the free update to Special Edition won't trigger these changes but the Anniversary Edition does.

i dont know if it's just me but i find that the graphics are a bit more clear and the colours pop more after the update on pc.

Hi, I purchased Skyrim Anniversary Edition on disk for Xbox One. Made several characters. When I go to Rorikstead, there is no wheat & sickle symbol or Golden Hills Farm at all east of town. Can anyone tell me how to make the farm appear?

I played Skyrim in 2012 on PS3 I had 380+ hours on it, now I think to play it again but this time on PC. So if I buy the Anniversary edition I'll have the same content from Special edition right?

The new update removed the black load screen and my special edition mods are running fine with the free anniversary upgrade on Xbox Series X. Will the creation club content in the full $20 anniversary version delete or affect any of my current mods? Thanks!

Short answer is it’s more likely. I play on Xbox S and my 30 or so mods run fine with the ani edition

My Skyrim Special Edition is gonna be forever queued for updating on Steam lol. On my limited free time I've been itching to go back to Skyrim but with all the amazing stuff the community has made. The loadout is basically complete and I'm ready for when I finally have the free time to go all in and I won't let this update that breaks current mods stop me!

I have special edition on my Series X and had no idea there was an even newer version lol. Just starting as a new player and I always like to be playing the newest version, but my Series X already plays it at 60 frames, the most important thing. Along with that it has survival mode so I’m not sure if I got it free or something. Anyways I just don’t think it’s worth trading in my special edition disc for anniversary if it costs as much as the internet is saying. Also will it create another entry on my achievement list or is it the same game but with DLC and stuff?

The cc quest content no, and a good amount of the new items and spells no. Some mods on nexus may be similiar but they will be different.

I completely agree about the reused dialogue lines! I was so excited to start my new Skyrim: Fishing Peacefully Edition and then I get there and they just said very generic ass lines.... I was like OH COME ON

I got it on PC. I think its worth it. Sure I can mod my game, but the bigger quests that come past the free one is worth $20 IMO. The extras past that like different armors and farming etc is a nice bonus past that.

There are perks and builds and multiple quest endings that fundamentally change the game, pets and new companions as well that change role playing aspects. There is too much to list or get into but I can see why people would assume its not much. Its actually a lot role playing content for people who cant acess pc mods. I do not support the price tag but facts are facts. Also backpack types are essential in survival mode (especially for a skooma trader rp/ smuggler rp) along with camping since there is a massive weight limit and no fast travel.

I wish they added sea travel. Not fast travel by ship but just smooth sailing, maybe a few storms. You can go below deck to eat or sleep or look out the port hole

Tbh, i got this for ps5 recently. One thing ive realized since playing the ps5 version of bethesda games is how much i missed the vanilla experience. Used to be a heavy pc user and modded the hell out of these games, but have slowly moved to console gaming just because of how expensive keeping an up to date pc is. And wow, playing skyrim in survival mode vanilla might just be my favorite skyrim experience ever.

whats crazy is that I have played through Skyrim like 3-4 times and have put in thousands of hours over the years but still never played through the vampire dlc. So I have another excuse to buy Skyrim for the 6th-7th time.

oh my gosh you have to play Dawnguard ASAP it is honestly the most memorable part of Skyrim for me. The later half of it is just mindblowingly incredible!!!

@@Jaclyn531246 really? That’s good to hear! I mean everything on Skyrim is great. I am just pissed I can’t download any of the CC content. I want armor for my horse! I want to get all of the new weapons and armor. But most of all I want to download the civil war mods and I can’t do that either. So I actually have less content than I did on SE. But I am still playing it through again lol. But not doing the dragon born main quest or dragon born dlc. Don’t want to be a hero this time. This time my character is only interested in power and knowledge. I’m doing the Companions for the werewolf ability, the thieves guild, the dark brotherhood and for only the second time I’m eventually going to join the Imperials. Don’t want to join the imperials until I can figure out why I can’t download anything and get the civil war mods which make it so much better. Then I was thinking I’ll play through Dawnguard after that. But maybe I should just go straight to Dawnguard after I go through the dark brotherhood quest line since I may never be able to get mods again lol.

Also any suggestions whether I should become a vampire or fight them? This character play through I’m bad and power hungry so can you take over and become like king vampire or no? I was thinking of waiting, but I’m already a high level character. If I wait for mods to work or the CC content to download I might be waiting a long time lol.

@@pinnacleproductions6275 I haven't tried playing the anniversary edition with mods yet, but I am almost certain my current mod list will break lol. I probably won't play anniversary edition for a while because of mods... My current playthrough uses the random start mod, and I'm actually halfway through Dawnguard as a wood elf without even starting the main quest. You can really start it at any time you feel makes sense to your character's story which I love. My current character is a morally good elf so I sided with the Dawnguard this time. If your character is power hungry siding with the vampires makes sense roleplay-wise. I personally find the vampire gameplay a lot of fun but I know some people find the mechanics annoying. Both sides have incredible quests, if you're into the lore you get to learn so much fascinating history about the falmer and elves. I don't think you can become king of the castle without some kind of mod though, not sure why that wasn't an option!

@@Jaclyn531246 thanks! Going to finish up dark brotherhood and thrives guild quest lines then head for Dawnguard. This is my first play through doing dark brotherhood since I first got it so it’s like a brand new experience since I forgot most of it and got it mixed up with oblivion DBH quest line in my memory. But def waiting to play the civil war QL until I can get the mods. They made it so much better with the larger armies & longer battles. Plus I got the armor mods & immersion mods and combat mods so it really makes it so much better.

I've got Skyrim Special edition installed on xbox one and was about to buy the anniversary edition full priced...But I read somewhere you can get it as an upgrade cheaper that paying for the anniversary edition in full.
