great to hear Bill's bass not buried in the mix - right on the money!

I lived out a dream - went to the US and drove down the remnants of this road with the Stones playing the song on the record player.

1964, the year that as a couple of kids, we left California and driving an old 51 Ford, took Route 66 escaping parental control and made our way across the country on $76 to start a new life together. What an adventure! Those were the days!

It helps to start with this phenomenal song Bobby Troup song…my vote for Americas alternative National Anthem.
@peterparker71212 ай бұрын
It started as a “swing” song. It was a hit for Nat King Cole in the 1940s. Later on even Perry Como recorded it! Then in the early 1960s Chuck Berry recorded it as a sort of boogie woogie. Curiously enough Berry’s version is piano-driven; there’s only a guitar solo in the middle. This is the record the Stones used to make the song pure rock’n’roll. But like I said, it started off as a jazzy tune. As a matter of fact Bobby Troup, the song’s composer, was a jazz pianist.

“Flagstaff , Arizona, don’t forget Winona…”. Jagger could never decipher “Winona”, so he flubs the name and says something like “Anona”.
