1. Soil can be harvested multiple times from pits. 2. Carrots spawn in desert biome not grasslands 3. Carrot seedlings consume soil per v62 update, so to maintain a farm long term you need to make compost. For compost, get a bowl of berries (you need to have a berry bush with 4 berries or more berries), then add carrot, and crush with sharp rock. Then add to reeds or straw gives you dry compost. Add water, then time gives you 3 soil.

Tutorial (at the time of this comment) is 4 years old) and still one of the best tutorials out there for the birth of a new civ. A few things have changed over the 4 years, but at least you aren't suggesting that abandoning babies is the way to go, or ignoring what steps people need to take to be self-sustaining. Thanks for a good start video.

Sucks trying to learn this game in 2020 as a new player. The game has been changed so much that all of these tutorials are outdated. I spent hours watching tutorials and gameplay videos before I started and still couldn't catch a single rabbit or even make a tilled row for farming, I had to use onetech to figure out how.

I'd say it's perfectly fine he made this video. 1) There are less than 10 good beginner guide videos for OHOL on YT 2) It's a process of shared learning 3) The community of OHOL is dwindling with every day unfortunately so every person who keeps the community active is great. Nuff said

this was so great. thanks. Oh you had it so easy, my first time as eve she had 6 kids and I'd only been playing for 2 days lol. It's a whole another challenge trying to feed oneself when one doesnt know how to start a farm with babies having to run after you. Fortunately the first two kids were boys and were experienced players so I reached old age and had grandchildren by then to carry on (3 of my 6 babies died).

Just FYI everything in the game spawns in their own respective biome. The green patches can give the soil patches and no where else can. Sometimes the place where two biomes overlap can cause things to cross from one biome to another but usually items spawn naturally in their respective biome. I'm only saying this bc u looked for soil in the watery biome for like 5 mins lol :)

This game looks good but it could(and hopefully will) get a lot more things added to it especially storage wise because it is possible to make a good sized bag/backpack out of tree bark which would be cool if it was added. Also keep up the good work.
@robot2024
@robot2024 6 жыл бұрын
There's backpacks in the game already, along with wheelbarrows which can carry multiple baskets at once, or leather pouches which are used for getting water more effectively.

But one of bark would be easier to get/make than one of rabbit fur if you didn’t have a lot of it after making clothes or something like that.

Is the yellow area a desert biome? I thought it was a Field biome. It would make more sense, I would imagine, because rabbits, carrots, and other crops (indigo) spawn in the yellow region.

I’m New at this game. And suck so far. I love it when I’m an eve. I always get experienced kids who help and are amazing at the game and I learn and because I’m New we end up having cute chats and become friends. That’s a part of the game I think people neglect. Granted there’s a ton of work and we need to stay alive and build a home etc. but the game is much more fun when the characters interact a bit

Are you freaking kidding me!? I just finished editing my own survival tutorial and I had to search for like 15 minutes to find an area that wasn't even as good as this one! And you just literally *spawn* in the garden of freaking Eden!? *sigh* I can't believe how much Milkweed was there. I didn't see that much even in all my far-and-wide wandering... I guess that's 'cause you're playing on an unpopulated server. Figures another tutorial would drop just before I get mine out, eh? Ah well, no one was gonna watch it anyway, most likely :p Wild berry bushes will continue to grow if you pick them clean; it's domestic bushes that you want to leave a berry on. Also, you do know you can reuse the same fertile soil deposit like 4 times, right? :p

Can't you just continue to.make. progress?.so.when you die you.die and you have to start all.over again? What a pity. I thought that if you died being too old you could just start again,.young and go back to what you had already done, like.You die but you get born again as a relative so.you.can.keep on making progress. If I'm right about this...I still don't understand how some managed to literally.make.a.Tom of.progress under.60 minutes, I bump into like a big wall and I thought that the wall.wouldn't be so large but it was and I tried going around to see if I could find the end of the wall but it was just too large, so yeah, idk how those people did all that in just 60 minutes. I hope I'm wrong tho cuz started all over again wouldn't make any sense, its disappointing.

Bit harsh... He may not have known how to do everything but he showed everything that people need to know to get farms going and that's the important bit. He actually managed to figure out the rest pretty quickly too. Definitely the most competent play I've seen from him so far.

catbert7's Gaming Highlights First off, I'm a huge meola fan. Secondly I agree with you, it is his best gameplay so far. Still I feel like he should have gotte. better before making a "tutorial" video. Because it is indeed terrible. (Better than most, but still bad.)
@catbert7
@catbert7 6 жыл бұрын
It's a "getting started" tutorial, not an expert tutorial. All beginners really need to survive is to know how to make their own farms (particularly, water containers) and he showed how to do that. So, I don't understand what your objection is. Tell us what he's missing that you think is so vital.

That's pretty much up to the player. This guide shows them what needs to be done; players following it can cut out the mistakes. The only real concern I have about it is that he just starts off in the absolute perfect location and I doubt most people will have it that easy. At least, I know that I *never* have. What you see in my own tutorial vid is pretty much what I have to deal with every single time :/
