2015 Megane RS Trophy (275hp) - DRIVE & SOUND (60FPS)

This week I can present to You the full Drive & Sound test with the latest 2014/2015 Renault Megane RS "Trophy" delivering 275 hp and 360 Nm of torque through the front wheels and a conventional 6-speed manual transmission (weight: 1.380 kg). Driving this car is really something special as the setup immediately tells you that this one is made for the race track! The cup suspension is "very sporty", the engine sound is raw (Akrapovic exhaust), and the transmission allows very quick gear changes. Inside you have awesome Recaro bucket seats and a typical alcantara feature to many elements, really stepping up with the quality compared to a regular Megane. This particular car features the same engine and exhaust system as the mighty Tophy-R which laped the Nürburgring Nordschleife as one of the fastest FWD cars. The major thing that distinguishes these two cars is the missing rear seats and air-con of the Trophy-R, wheighing 100 kg less than this particular car. Performance wise this RS goes quite decent up to 180 km/h, after that it starts loosing ground compared to a Cupra or Astra OPC. What a car this thing. It actually sounds seriously good ! I mean for a turbo inline 4, there are not a lot of better sounding things on the market than this Mégane RS, especially in its 275 Trophy version. Onboard you have that addictive raw intake sound, which is actually a pretty nice thing and make it almost sound like it's NA. In addition to that, they've now fitting that cool Akra exhaust system, with a deep exhaust note, and some crackles and pops. Really impressed by Renault's job, and i can't wait for the M4RS to kick in ! Btw, thanks for the vid guys ;)

well, mk2 focus st/rs still sounds better tham this.. then as 4 cyl, Astra j OPC (looooooks alot better, sounds good)

He needs to rip out the silencer pillows from back of ait intake box (can hear spooling and BOV much louder if you have one). Straight pipe it 3 whole way. Rip out rear seats, sound proofing, air con and rear wiper engine. Just doing that cost under 100usd and will make this car sound redicuously good with massive backfires not "lil pops" and you will achieve sub 5 second 0-100kph times with a good launch. I have mine remapped to 302hp which also helps a lot.

You know the for reason for the indicators constant ligthning? It's still in transport-mode. Simply just push both indicator and washer arm all the way down, while the ignition is off.. voila, it's off ;)

Ein aktueller Golf GTI ist eine lahme Karre dagegen. Der geht nach vorne vielleicht etwas besser aber ist mit Automatik auch kein Wunder. Dafür kostet der GTI 6000€ mehr? Der Megane RS ist der hammer, wird definitiv mein nächstes Auto. Da stimmen die Emotionen die für das sportliche Fahren da sein müssen. Das fehlt German Engeneering komplett!

Sounds a bit like the Dodge SRT-4 exhaust. Sounds a little deeper into the exhaust, where as the SRT-4 cracks and popples sound more distinct on the surface. Were you hitting the soft redline, noticed a bit of what sounded like you bouncing off of it?

Klemen Levstik The GTI I tested was a DSG, but anyhow this one isn't faster performance wise. What really is amazing about the RS is the drama it makes....every drive is a thrill....something that German engineering sometimes lacks a bit ;)

Klemen Levstik On paper even the Megane 265 is faster than a GTI with perfomance pack: www.zeperfs.com/en/duel3962-4601.htm However the testers are professional drivers and can shift and launch perfectly. It also depends on the road you use as a slight incline or decline can make a difference. Temperature is also important, especially with turbocharged engines. Cars can also vary in power even if it's the same model. The RS loses it's advantage at high speed and over 200km/h is the same or slower than a GTI. I've driven the RS for several weeks and am very familiar with it's performance.

I don't know if you ever found out, but I'm gonna leave this here for anyone to find because I was having trouble figuring it out myself. It is on the infotainment system already. And can be activated in the same why as with the clio 4. Those are activated quite frequently, but only by DIY hackers. The dealer doesn't touch it. Find someone who can change the software on a clio, ask m to do your Megane. Hope this helps anyone.

Qualität und Verarbeitung im Innenraum, sowie das Radio, Navi etc sind einfach unterirdisch. Bei dem Preis darf das nicht sein (meiner Meinung nach). Aber es ist eben ein Franzose, die sind da etwas speziell. Dann lieber ein Seat Leon (da bin ich zwar noch nicht den Cupra gefahren, aber selbst als FR geht er schon gut und der Innenraum macht mehr her).

+GeislerMotorsport eine Frage des Anspruchs den man an ein Auto hat. Als Fahrmaschine mag der Renault nett sein, als Alltagsauto würde mich der Innenraum sehr stören. Wie gesagt macht Seat das in meinen Augen deutlich besser. Golf bin ich leider nicht oft genug gefahren und das sicher sagen zu können, Radio und Bedienung waren aber in jedem Fall besser beim VW.

Have you seen the Civic Type Rs? They make me sick. This 2017 updated shape was much uglier than the other MK3 Meganes. Look up 2011-2013 models. Much prettier imo :)
