I always let them know in the survey when I’m PO’d. The reason why is that it is possible that the survey results go to toyota head quarters, not the dealership, so it might give the dealership some heat (though I might just be dreaming). I don’t know that for a fact, but it’s entirely possible. Besides, it makes me feel better! Great to see you excited about building that model. It’s so important for us retirees to have a reason to get up in the morning and something positive and fun to keep those mental gears lubricated. Otherwise you’ll just turn into a turnip!

I definitely would watch your video showing how the oiler works. I received a package from a Fleabay seller and what was shipped was a Black&DeckerVibratone valve seat stone holder. These have bearings internally for smooth operation on a grooved pilot. I looked at the package then realized what it was supposed to be. It was empty and the flap on the brown shipping envelope was open. The seller did not tape the flap and relied on the glue that the manufacturer of the envelope had applied. The seller was congenial and refunded my money. I am repeating this to alert others so they do not rely solely on the pre-allpled glue and have it cost them hard earned money, tape it for security. Then the Post Office will have the ability to demonstrate other forms of incompetence. It must be so much automation that things like what happened to me are overlooked. You would think that someone within the USPS would take a smidgen of care but no, never going to happen.

Thanks Mr Pete. I appreciate all that you do. I went to a dealership for a service and said "can you replace the broken dipstick while you are in there?" When I got the bill, they had charged me a half an hour of labor to install the dipstick. He said I can't change any prices but I can have the mechanic explain the charges to you so you will understand. I said I'm not a mechanic and it takes me 1.4 seconds to put the dipstick in the hole. Can he explain to me why it takes a factory training expert a half an hour to get it in the hole? The response was " will waive the fee for you today "

You at least got into your dealership. I was refused any work on my vehicle at my dealership. They said they had no record of any appointment on their computer at the service desk. I had made an appointment a week previous online. I had been e-mailed the appointment was verified and the of very morning of the appointment I was texted a reminder. The guy at the counter told me that it was very likely that service manager probably forgot to put the appointment onto service center computer at the front counter and without it they could not work on my vehicle. Never got a request to rate them. I would have been very glad to have though.

Pal of mine found out once back at home that he had got charged around £15 for topping up his screenwash when his Audi got serviced. He was certain it wouldn't happen again, so brimmed his screenwash when it next went in. At pickup time, he looked at the bill and there was the charge for 500ml of screenwash again. He said to reception "You cant possibly have put 500ml of screenwash in as I topped it off before coming here" the receptionist replied "Oh, you'll find the bottle of screenwash in your glove box !" Flipping rob dogs !

It's great to hear about the history of all these tools. I've got a few tools from my neighbors collection that were made by some American companies that are hard to find any info on. Yesterday I was cleaning up an old original Crescent wrench of my dads that was hanging in the drive shed, and I was thinking of you while I was doing it, so it's neat to see that old Crescent micrometer. I watched your video of where you showed the set of Suzuki small whole gauges you acquired at an auction, and my neighbor had the exact same set. It's hard to find good info on some of these Japanese companies too.

Years ago I bought a new VW Dasher diesel station wagon for my wife. A month later the right rear axle stub came loose. I tightened the bolts the best I could by the road. I took it to the shop where the mechanic used an impact to hammer the new bolts in. I asked the service manager for the bolts he just installed. I threw them into the trash can with a bang. I told him to torque another new set.

Good morning, Mr. Pete. Put me down as interested in seeing how the oiler works. Re: the rant, I had purchased a piece of hot rolled, 7" diameter x 2" thick on Ebay, the price included free shipping. I went to the post office to pick it up and they told me there was $62 postage due because of the weight. After arguing for a while, they stated I could refuse it and they would ship it back to the seller. I told them to go ahead. So that 22# piece of iron went on a round trip from Pennsylvania to Texas and back due to their incompetence. End of my rant.

I'd love to have a couple of videos on those oilers Mr Pete. They look fascinating. Great video as always. One thing you can rely on is that your postal workers are overworked, understaffed and generally treated in line with the way the postal service senior management views them. Specifically, that they're resources to be used like they're of no consequence and just exist to ensure that senior management gets their bonuses. That's the world we live in. Oh and when I got the "How did we do?" email, I'd have phoned the dealership, asked to speak to the person you originally "corrected" and said "I've got this email and am about to describe my feelings accurately. Do you have anything you might like to tell me that may make me feel like what I said to you about the cabin filter is being followed up, or shall I just tell them that you personally were dishonest and unprofessional".

I have the same issue with air and cabin filters and dealer service. Each time I go they want to replace a $70 (not including installation) cabin air filter. With a straight face, they have said that the cabin filter is important to protect the delicate electronics in the car. Yet they have never cautioned me about driving with the windows or sun roof open. Filters are just one thing they push to enhance their profits. Dealer service is another sore subject with me. I guess sore subjects come with age or are we more willing to vent. Having broke the 70 barrier a couple of years ago I figure it's my duty to point things out. Thanks for leading the way.

The 20mm casings for file handles are very cool. If you do put them on, they may need a rack so they are easy to use, and display. As far as the Post Master General, keep in mind, he is also high up in another shipping company, (maybe FedEx I can't remember), and would really like to put the post office out of business. I don't know why most of the post office board has their position on the board, because most of them have conflicts too. While I don't like what has been done to the Post Office by the rich, and clueless, I have been using them for my business for over 30 years, and am very impressed with their service, and their people. I may be able to count problems as a shipper on one hand. Thanks for your work over the years, no matter what you are doing it's always fun to watch, and I learn something.

Oh, Mr. Pete got the dealership two-step. I, too took my car to the dealer for regular oil changes and after about 20 minutes a voluptuous, long-haired agent appeared and presented a tatty, leaf-covered cabin air filter telling me it should be replaced. That was the second time. When I called her out on it because the leaves on that filter don't exist where I live. She got a little defensive, but just shy of impudent. I declined and she walked away unhappily.

Automotive works.... Once bought a second hand car 2-3 years old. One of the keys didn't work and tvey changed 2032 inside. No difference so they ordered a new key. When it arrived it needed to be coded into the system, a minute job.... After half an hour NO key worked and they had to keep the car there. The next day thecar was ready, with 3 working key! The guy behind the counter wanted me to pay like 350 USD...... No way I did. The sellers account had to pay the bill.... Once bought a stainless silencer system having a 10 year warranty. After one year all welds gave in. They said the warranty was only about corosion... A friend working there realized the absurd in the situation and gav me a free standard system..

I stayed for the extra credit rant. The postal service must have hired gorillas because I mailed two different priority packages and both got destroyed in shipping. One was a magneto I sent off for repair. It arrived at the repair shop smashed. The coil cover was crushed and it was a rare IH model on a Wico magneto. So now my repair bill will be doubled. It was insured but I am not confident I will be reimbursed even though the repair shop provided photos.🤬

Your story about the cabin filter isn't much unlike mine. We had the car serviced for whatever reason and they came into the waiting room to tell us that the filter needed changing as it was dirty. I promptly said "No Thanks" because they told me it would be another 80 dollars to change it out. We went home and I found an exact replacement at a local department store for 9 dollars. Oh! And the filter wasn't bad(dirty) at all.

I had two deer run into my just purchased Lincoln Town Car (2006 model) and insurance sent me to Joe's Collision to get it fixed. When they called and said it was done I went and looked at it, had 2 square spots on the lower panel with no paint, both about 1" square. I said what the heck is with that? He said because it wasn't deer damage they didn't fix it, I said that wasn't there when I brought it in, I have pictures of the danged door and the paint was fine even where the deer dented the door, he said he'd call Geico and get the repair authorized. I take the car home, find out the key fob doesn't work. When I went back and while we were talking about it the guy mentioned that they couldn't fix the original door so that was a new door. So why did they think those missing patches of paint were there before the deer hit me? Don't know which statements were lies, but obviously all of them can't be true.
