G'day Lee. Nice little flycutter, which worked out well. Could also double up as an oil groove ring cutter on a smaller tool. Many years ago I used similar flycutters when modifying chambers on heads for bigger valves. The main difference was the tool had 3 sizes. The top few inches was about 3/8" OD The centre varied on the tool steel cutter, with a side grub screw, & the bottom which was a minimun of about 6" in lenght was the ID of the valve guide for stabilisation. Worked well on cast iron as well as alloy.

👍 ! Shouldn’t the leading edge of the cutting tool be on the center line of the holder ? It seem to cut very good , but I was curious if it should cut like a fly cutter.

Thank You for yet another interesting and inspiring video. One request is to add some more gain to the audio. 100% still sounds like whispering here.

Nice job. I have a question about the position of the cutting edge with reference to the center-line. Is it set up like a fly cutter?

Think either wasn't on center when drilling that center bolt hole or the head of the bolt bent 🤔 you can really see it at 22:22, rest of piece is centered but bolt head is wobbling like crazy

I think you should have offset your slot so that the cutting edge is on center, not center the HSS.

Believe you are right but he would have been forced to use larger diameter stock to have enough meat 🍖 😉 to have his 2nd bolt

I liked the video and will be a handy tool. I sent you an email in reference to the surface grinder and I think you are heading in the direction to my suggestion for your future projects. Can't wait to see if I'm correct.
