Mrs. DoorKicker's First Ride

Just bought Mrs. DoorKicker a 2021 Yamaha XT250 for her first motorcycle and today she rides for the first time!
Started off working clutch control then moved on to low speed turns around the yard. She never stalled it or dropped it. Very proud of her for first time on a motorcycle.

I admire your cautious attitude. I thought you handled it perfectly. I've always thought that practice on your bike should always be in slow speed situations. Use that tree as a target and find different ways to go around it avoid it or just get as close to it as you can.

I just hate that invisible on the road gray color. I have had both gray and black bikes, and three times I almost got wiped out. And every single time the first words from their mouth was oh sorry I did not see you. I now ride a nice bright green Kawasaki.

Helmet good boots and gloves don't let her get used to riding without them it will be harder to ride with them later on....

Oh for sure. I even said this to Mrs. DoorKicker. I learned to ride on the street wearing regular boots, now moving to the offroad it's hard for me to wear proper MX or adventure touring boots because I'm not used to them. She will be getting the correct gear before any trips off the property ;)

Just remember if you go down your natural instinct is to catch yourself. At that point your hands become road crayons. Have seen it twice and it is not pretty, no flesh on the palms. And you don't want to hear that I don't plan on going down. You never do that is why they call it an accident. I once instantly lost all of the air from my rear tire at 40 MPH Scary moment for sure trying to keep the bike under control and get it stopped at the same time. Took me a while to get back up to speed after that incident, and I will never ride as carefree again.

It is a 2021 Yamaha XT250. Has a low seat high, reliable air cooled 250cc engine, and I think is perfect for a shorter rider learning to ride, hence why I got this for the wife to learn on.
