"There's a Boy in the Girls' Bathroom," by Louis Sachar is an oldie but a goodie. I have read it in grades 4-7, and all have loved it! It gives insight into "bad kid's" life at school and home and how hard it is for him to transform into a "good" student. I cry every time that I read it aloud.

Loved this video!! I teach 4th grade, and I've done novel studies for Misty of Chincoteague, Esperanza Rising, and I'm adding The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane this year. I want to read Frederick Douglas Fights for Freedom so I can add that one! I also love to read aloud the first Harry Potter book, and The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe to my class.

My kiddos have really enjoyed the Humphrey books this year in second grade! Also, The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane is a must, always tears. Honestly, the Lorax is also one of my absolute favorite read alouds and teaches so many skills.

Love the video! One book I read at the end of April is “Wish Tree” by Katherine Applegate. My 3rd grade kids love this book last year and my 4th graders are enjoying it this year.

I love Jabari Jumps! I am a high school teacher. I use all the Peter Reynolds books. I also like a book called Feathers and Fools by Mem Fox. For teachers, if you haven't read, Becoming Better Grown Ups by Brad Montague, you should.

Can you share your mentor text wall as a close up where we can see all the books you used this year? I love this idea! Wait until the end of the year, so we have the complete set! 😂
