​@@Simply..Lychee. Whenever someone says something like this about Arijit and Hindi being universally understood. I get little embarassed for the fact that it is being said. But not for the fact that it is so damn true. There are so many artists in the world, with so many great songs to their name. But the sheer number of songs done by Arijit and their emotional connection is astounding, people who don't speak Hindi can only appreciate his skills and vocals, maybe at some depth even feel the emotional waves which mallows ones heart. But could never understand what it feels like understanding those lyrics with your soul and emotions which comes knowing Hindi language. Just to give an example, he also sings in another Native Indian language, it doesn't feel that impact full. And obviously there could be more artists like him in the world simultaneously existing which could justify the above statement. But one thing is for sure, he isn't on top of the list just because India has the biggest population.

Wouldn't be surprised if both guys look up to each other in some ways. For Arijit, i feel like, Ed would be a great artist with similar delivery of songs, but in western world, and while Ed probably wouldn't be as familiar with Arijit, since, well, western artists rarely notice indian ones, i feel like, the moment he found out about him, he definitely wanted to hang out and maybe even learn a way or two. Update:- You may be surprised to see India Classical trained artist hitting pop. Actually it become way easier for an artist who has trained on Indian Classical to sing Pop cause Indian Classical trains vocal cords to such level that you would be able to hit any genre on Earth after sometime depending how different it is from Indian classical all the artist needs is just a "switch" of the mindset, attitude and little training. I highly heavly recommend all Vocal arstist all across the globe to pick Indian Classical as a base first during initial days of training and after mastering it for couple of years you can switch over to any classical genre so that you would have concrete strong foundation on which you could build further.

I don’t know why this misconception is that only a few people in India speak English; when for 12 years (I'm talking about school) we have had English literature and language as a primary subject whether you are from Hindi or English medium; on the contrary, Hindi is not spoken by many. Hindi is mainly spoken in the northern part and is the primary language in Bollywood movies. But, every state has its language, and people proficiently speak both, their state language and English (with English being their 2nd language). Since we love to speak our state language people don't listen to us speaking English primarily and yes there is a big chunk of people who don't speak English but they do understand and form conversations in English.
