Here's info that some aren't aware of: ❤️JIMIN, at age 11-12 started studying, performing, & competing (winning every competition), in hip hop, popping (excelled), & street dancing, while attending the renowned Just Dance Academy in Busan where he's from! He was so good that an instructor even had the high tuition fee waived at one point! This was while also attending middle school, where he loved sports, being quite athletic, joined the football team, excellent at track, great at basketball, & billiards! Jimin also, all throughout his schooling, was known as a top scholar, achieving perfect scores, especially in math & science which just always came easy to him! Jimin was even class president for 9 yrs in a row! Jimin, all throughout his schooling, was also quite good in art class, as well as calligraphy. Jimin, then also took up contemporary dance. The media, after seeing a performance of Jimin's performing at a huge Busan Festival Event, called Jimin "The rising star of Busan"!! JIMIN also studied ballet & traditional Korean dance while attending Busan High School of the Arts. Jimin still went to Just Dance Academy to take hip hop classes whenever he could because his first love has always been hip hop, even though he was now majoring in contemporary! JIMIN even had an offer to dance overseas, but declined because he also wanted to become a singer since the 2nd grade, to the dismay of one of his dance instructors who said "The world of dance was going to lose a great artist"!! So Jimin then went and auditioned for BigHit Entertainment, (company BTS is signed with), being the very last member to join, being a trainee for only a few months (which is unheard of for most Kpop idols), as opposed to the 2-3 yrs of being a trainee the other members had! But Jimin was so good that he was assigned the official title of one of the two Main Dancers, as well as Lead Vocalist. Jimin was even assigned most of the high notes since the very beginning, because even without all that training in the beginning, he was that good, a natural born singer who, just like his dancing makes you feel every emotion and feeling he's trying to convey! JIMIN, also, for 8 yrs, since a quite young boy, trained in various forms (4), of martial arts: Taekwondo (Blackbelt), Hapkido, Kumdo (Korean form of Kendo), & Chinese martial arts. He even won a scholarship, the only student to do so, to study more extensively in China for awhile! All the martial arts training has given JIMIN his phenomenal inner core strength, as well as his amazing flexibility, which has enabled Jimin to achieve all those breathtakingly spectacular gravity defying dance moves! JIMIN has found a way to incorporate all his various dance disciplines, as well as his extensive training in martial arts into his unique, ever so special, outstandingly amazing dancing abilities!! JIMIN, has been called 'Stage Commander', known for his amazing, so mesmerizing stage presence. God I cant describe how great this human is. He's so incredibly talented, funny, so emotionally strong, sweet, a great support and he plays a great role in BTS. It just breaks my heart how hard he worked through the years, skipping meals just because people imposed beauty standards. Martial arts/dance have been done before but nowhere as graceful or as global. (Also, not with as many disciplines of both dance or martial arts) as Jimin has mastered over the years. People tend to forget that Jimin learned how to lock and hip hop dance first before contemporary lessons.

As a black belt in ji do kwan taekwondo, it took me 6 years to achieve. So I appreciate the hard work and discipline it takes to be a martial artist. Also any martial art worth its salt is more about the principles than the fighting. I have a lot of respect for Jimin!

Sammy, Another good video is about Jimin's underestimated athleticism. Many of us ask the same question: when Jimin has had time to do the different activities. Martial arts are based on the focus and patience, and that combination + Jimin's famous hard work on everything he is doing gives the results unattainable to the others. Have you seen RUN BTS episode 127 (777 Lucky Seven pt.2)? There is Jimin Kendo Master fighting against the empty plastic bottles:-) He concluded the long battle with the words of wisdom "If you keep trying you can do anything"!

Thank you for your reaction Sammy 🥰 I might be wrong (anyone can correct me in that case), but I think that all those martial arts and dance classes were when he was still attending school. The last years of the High school being more focused on dance and, ultimately, the very last year he was already on the capital, being a trainee and going to school with Taehyung. I can’t help but ask myself how many hours his day has 😅 But he did say recently that he slept very little and was always trying to be busy, taking challenges and pushing himself... 😶 But it’s still hard to imagine him attending his normal school (which has longer periods and are far more demanding than mine were), have really good marks, be a class president or vice, participate in his school clubs and STILL do a martial art class. 🤯😵

Once anyone looks closely at Jimin's upbringing and pre-debut life, never ever buy into the false narrative that he is "weak" or "insecure." He is *strong* in mind, will, and body. 💜 About your query, keep in mind high school in S Korea is for 3 yrs. Jimin entered Busan Arts HS in Feb 2011 and attended for little over a year. Jimin moved to Seoul in May 2012 to devote *everything* to being an idol trainee at international age 16 and a half. He got the martial arts scholarship his first year in high school, and was eligible to upgrade from poom to full black belt in Taekwondo only after turning 16. So it seems to me that Jimin stayed active in martial arts up to the point he left Busan, when he would have dropped everything, including contemporary dance. Obviously BigHit was well aware of Jimin's superior training and put it to use throughout BTS' hip-hop era. Jimin's tumbling and TKD skills were always the highlight of BTS' eye-catching choreos. 💜

You should definitely watch some videos of K-Tiger !! They're taekwondo unit doing kpop cover dance ! They change certain moves and remplace them with taekwondo moves

many idols hae basic of martial art practitioner,, or athlete... thats why they have such great moves and strong stamina. aside from jimin, in BTS jungkook and yoongi also do taekwondo. they do these things mostly while in school tho (well or before become trainee,, some still do it while be a trainee until they debut) the other idol that i know was martial artist are jooe momoland, the8 and jun seventeen, jungwon enhypen, tao ex-exo
