Pluto is not given the recognition it has anymore, thus mentioned in the lyrics, the name Eris is another dwarf planet a little bit bigger than Pluto. They used that as a metaphor for love, the feeling of one-sided love.

I actually read this somewhere: “134340” is the 4th track off Love Yourself: 轉 Tear. It features a hard hitting chorus backed by jazzy instrumentals. The number 134340 is the asteroid number scientists now use to reference Pluto ever since it lost its status as the 9th planet in our solar system. Pluto is also the Roman name for the Greek deity Hades. Hades’s storyline is mentioned through the song. On Naver it has been described as « containing the analog sound that is unique to BTS ». Here is the explanation of a few lines: IF ONLY I COULD, I WANTED TO ASK YOU WHY DID YOU DO THAT BACK THEN? WHY DID YOU KICK ME OUT? Back in August 2006, The International Astronomical Union (IAU) downgraded Pluto’s status to a dwarf planet because it didn’t fit the criteria of a real planet which are: 1) Is in orbit around the Sun, 2) Has sufficient mass to assume hydrostatic equilibrium (a nearly round shape) 3) Has “cleared the neighborhood” around its orbit. Pluto only fit the first two criteria. It didn’t fit the third one because it did not dominate its orbit, and had other solar system bodies nearly its size. Planets are supposed to be significantly larger than their surrounded solar bodies in order to be classified as a Planet. Such as how Earth is much much larger than the moon. Here the speaker is taking on the role of Pluto, who was kicked out of the solar system and lost it’s status. From they’re point of view, they don’t know why they were pushed away and kicked out from the relationship (the solar system) and follows around or continues to orbit his significant other (the sun). If Pluto could, he would probably ask why he’s no longer a planet. He seems to be talking to Sun, because it still orbits the Sun. Does the Sun still want Pluto to be there? Does the speaker’s significant other still want them? WITHOUT A NAME TO MYSELF, I STILL REVOLVE AROUND YOU As of September 7, 2006, Pluto is now just a number. Alongside its companion satellites, Charon, Nix and Hydra, Pluto is now named 134340 while the remaining 3 are named I, II, and III. So Pluto is now nameless. Compared to the speaker, which is stating that he (Pluto) has no name (status/place) on their relationship anymore but now a stranger and still revolving around his ex-lover’s life (the sun). OUR GOODBYE IS COLORLESS, THAT UNCHANGING COLOR wordplay: 무색해 (original form: 무색하다) literally means ‘to be colorless,’ but can also mean ‘put something to shame’ or ‘to be meaningless.’ COULD IT BE REALLY THAT YOU’VE FOUND ERIS Eris or minor-planet designation 136199 Eris, is another dwarf planet that is in the same belt as Pluto is in named Kuiper Belt and allegedly is the same size as Pluto or larger. Eris is actually one of the reason that Pluto lost its status as a planet because Eris is in the same orbit as Pluto. It actually correspond with the origin of its name. Eris is the Greek goddess of strife and discord. Making conflicts everywhere she goes. It just so happens that Pluto is on its bad side, being the victim of conflict and losing its status. MY COLD HEART IS 248 DEGREES BELOW ZERO Pluto spent 248 years to complete the orbit around the sun The temperature of Pluto is around -248 degrees celsius. THE TEMPERATURE RIGHT NOW IS -248 DEGREES Suga is referring to the coldness of Pluto and at the same time to its year length. Even thought Pluto is a very cold planet, its lowest temperatures “only” reach -233 degrees celsius. The number 248 comes from the fact that a year in Pluto (the time it takes to go around the Sun) is equivalent to 284 earthling years. This number can also be a reference to its orbital eccentricity, i.e., how stretch its orbit is, which is 0.2488 (being 0 a perfect circle and 1 a straight line).
