A lot of the things I buy are wants, not needs, but it is a lot! I do have a small school fund but I don't know when I'll be able to access it! I plan on using that for most of our day to day supplies. Mostly, I purchased extras because I KNOW we will run out, and I just don't want that to happen!

I am a secondary art teacher and I do spend from my own pocket but mostly for cute little things. Otherwise we have a budget we can access for my subject- not an awful lot but I manage:) however there’s so much more I would like to do in my art room. I guess also it is easier to decorate when you teach the same kids everyday. I teach different classes throughout the week, every day.

You might already know this, but if you put masking tape on the wall you can hot glue on top of that. It holds everything up! Then you just peel the tape off when you need to take it down.😊

Hello! I recently discovered your channel and have enjoyed your videos. I’m a first grade teacher in Florida going into year 16! You are doing an awesome job with your classroom. Where was social media when I started? Lol! It’s so wonderful to get ideas, tips, and so on from other educators. I still enjoy it after all these years! I love your classroom vibe...very serene. Can’t wait to see how it turns out. Also... the command hooks with the wire hook would work great for the floral swag and I would use the velcro ones for the letters since they’re fairly heavy. Command products are pricey but so worth it. Clean the wall with a bit of alcohol to remove any residue before putting them up just to be safe. And the good thing is once you get a good supply of the hooks, you can just buy the replacement sticky strips which are cheaper. Best of luck and have fun! You can find the snap containers in packs of three. I have also used the others but they are not as durable and often kiddos would drop them and the crayons go all over. I purchased boy's black socks at dollar tree, two pairs to a pack, so you get four socks for $1.00. Then I place one marker in each sock. The students put the sock on their non-dominate hand to erase. It really helps save time as there is only the sock to pass out and the marker is inside the sock.

Another teachertuber mentioned the dollar store lock-top containers did not do well (surprisingly!) for glue sponges. I am still debating on whether or not I want to make them...I think I may use them for projects instead of normal everyday gluing - at least until I run out of glue!

Mrs. Call's Campers you might really want to consider the treasure chest! I had teachers who let you cash in the class dollars (which you got for good behavior or perfect test scores) for the treasure chest. And sometimes if someone demonstrated excellent behavior they got to get something. The years that I had teachers that did that tended to be the years that the kids behaved the best. Plus it was so exciting to finally save enough to get in!

Mrs. Call's Campers Well I teach 6th grade, so idk anything about first grade. I can tell you a few things though. #1 self care will be a must. I was so overwhelmed at all the work I had to do above and beyond teaching that I cried every day for the first week. #2 Have somewhere to put papers the office gives you, so you do not lose them or forget them. #3 (One I had trouble with) Ask for help. I don't know how your planning works, but make the most of it. I always plan out what I'm going to do on my planning for half of it. Then the other half I use to take a brain break, because we need them! Good luck!! I can't wait to see how your year goes in your vlogs.♥️

I found some crayon holders that kind of have the sterilite containers snap look from JoAnn Fabrics! They fit 24 crayons perfectly and have some room. Love your videos! Around 24:50 when you talked about caddies. How about trying a wooden table tray and let that be your centerpiece for your tables and maybe add different fake plant to each table center tray. Adds to your them and still allows students to store what theyre currently using in that tray.

I used the gray containers for glue sponges and crayons last year. You’re correct, students had to dump them, and when crayons broke, students had trouble putting them back because the fit was so perfect. I purchased the containers you switched the crayons to for my glue sponges. The sponges dried out quickly in the other containers last year. I’ve been enjoying what I’m seeing from you. I teach 2nd, and I also have a channel! 😊

Love your vids!!! Last year was my first year teaching and I had first grade as well! My kiddos used the 2 for a dollar crayon boxes. They did pretty good with them but you were definitely smart using the one with more space. Also, I got the fine tip expo markers as well thinking it'll be better for precision. However, in my experience, the tips were so small that the kids had heavy writing hands and pushed them in way easier than the broad tipped markers. We often times found ourselves throwing quite a few markers away because it was too far pushed in. Hope this helps!! New subbie 😊😊

Have you though of painting the walls or using wallpaper on one of them? Also if you use a box cutter to cut the fabric on your boards then add a boarder it will remove/hide any imperfections.

GIRL I know the pain of those dollar tree snap containers lol I bought SO MANY last year for my crayons then actually switched to travel soap containers that were just a little pricier but so much easier for the kids to handle. I have junior high students and I have used the containers with the blue lids for my crayons for 2 years....they have held up well....i don't think you will regret switching to the blue rather than the gray.....so much easier for the kiddos....the gray would be good for cards also.

I use the blue lid containers for crayons, but the color snap ones for center work (color code)
