Those holes in the pasture are groundhog entrances. They can surely break an animals leg. It's good that you found them. Have a great day!

Yes, that's exactly what I was getting ready to say. I've had one in my back yard and the hole was just like that. Trapped him with a humane trap, and re-homed him at a wooded park by a river.

Yes Groundhogs make big deep wholes too. In the Midwest where we have plenty!
@sharonjosefik766Күн бұрын
WE HAVE ❤ TO TRAP groundhogs constantly and move them. We fill the holes with very fine gravel 2 RC. They have freaking apartments underground. My husband almost flipped the mower hitting those holes. We keep a pile of gravel and sod to fill in. If you fill with dirt they just dig right thru but the gravel keeps falling they don't get thru as easy😊

Happy Sunday Mrs. Brooke! Seems like that hole could be an armadillo hole. We've had a couple in our yard at one time. They're no fun. We got some snow here in Centre, Alabama and it was pretty much gone the next day. It was nice to see the white stuff but the frigid cold is no fun, no fun at all! God Bless ya'll real good!

Hey Brooke! We know you really suffer trying to stay warm in the cold. Having grown up in NW Pa I suggest you leave your earrings out when it’s cold. Having them in conducts the cold up into your ears and head even though you’re wearing a hat. I discovered this personally made a big difference for me when out on horseback during the winter months. You can also pull your hat down further. Stay warm🙂♥️

We refer to two things out in the pasture as "cripplers" for livestock and working horses. One crippler is a hole like this one you found and the other thing called a crippler is a low to the ground mature cactus.

We love mango's fresh & freeze dried that's thinly sliced. To peel them we slice each side of the stone & then use a glass to peel by sliding the edge of the skin outside the glass & the flesh falls into the glass, it can take a few tries to get the hang of but it's the easiest way to do.

Years ago a huge tree fell on our house. We had no damage. The tree was 3’ or bigger in diameter. The crew cut the tree at ground level. We tore the house down to build our home. We also had soil brought in before building. About 10 years later a huge hole, about 5’ deep, opened up under our porch. We concluded that was the trees root system that had decayed.

Having lived in Hawaii for years. I can attest ripe mangos off the tree are fabulous. Under-ripe ones from the store just are not the same, but can be pickled. Look for red as possible. You're using a green, under-ripe one. Brown indicates rotting.

My guess on the holes in the pasture is that they might be a Ground Hog You poking a rake handle will go only so far...so it seems, but you have to remember that animals that burrow do not keep their tunnels straight...they tend to "switch back" and "meander" and they always have "exits"...sometimes multiple exits... Ground Hogs in particular, tend to "re-dig" any hole you fill...even if you put good size rocks in them to back fill the holes Be sure to check weekly to see if the holes are not re-appearing..... If it's a ground hog, they, once they establish an area will have holes everywhere...I've had issues with them before, are frustrating Good luck!
