I have been listening to Ulrich Schnauss for years now and i cannot get enough of his music!! I have all of his albums and EP's and i love every track he has ever produced from start to finish. Ulrich Schauss is one of my all time favourite artists, if not my all time favourite! I have never know music to hold my attention for so long and not fade into the background. I can listen to his music day after day. He is a genius, seriously!

Nigel My little jest went under the bridge clearly. Herr Schnauss is indeed quite a remarkable composer/producer I must admit, his music and the album's by Harold Budd called 'Nighthawks' 'Translucence' and ' Drift music' , if you're not aware of them, are also well worth a hearing , like Ulrich's other wordly music, Budd's take's the mind somewhere else where time is not in control and emotions are free to wander.

+permaveg shut your facehole, you sound like a total ass. Schnauss is a rare talent, I've been listening and loving his music since 2006. Nobody makes tracks quite like him, I put him up there with Orbital, Brian Eno, Jon Hopkins. Respect the pioneers. I made my own electronic music album that I'm proud of and while it's very, very weak in comparison these guys gave me the inspiration to even bother learning how to produce in my early teen years. I didn't read your clarification, sorry. I'll just leave my original comment untouched, certainly touched a nerve lol

ULRICH SCHNAUSS is one of the very few artists, that I make it a point to purchase both a CD and vinyl copy of every full length album he puts out. Ulrich is an absolute master at his craft, truly. A naturally gifted, profoundly intuitive, incredibly talented, humbly genuine individual. I trust his musical capabilities, judgement, so much so, that I blindly purchase his works without ever hearing a song first. I have to thank you tube for ever learning about him/his works... seems there is a good side to the internet.

I first came across Ulrich’s music in the movie ‘Elizabethtown’ a place a love in Kentucky and a moving film. It was one tune I think it was ‘far away trains’? So i spent ages tracking down his albums I now own most of them except this one. This is driving music, I also play it when up flying my aircraft........whatever you do.......whatever nationality.......music transcends boundaries and language barriers. Also as a musician I appreciate what each song conjures up in my mind and the place it takes me to....... Ulrich Schnauss...........you are simply a prophet and a visionary 👍🏻👏🏻 If you dont fly your own aircraft, just put ya headphones or buds i on whatever then listen to this in an airliner as you break through clouds at 30,000 feet.............now THAT is getting high!

I'm fascinated by the comments - I find this album (most songs at least) superior to the previous work. There is so much more depth, rhythm experimentation, layering, and melodic novelty. The previous work always seemed a bit boring and overly simple for me. I love the direction and while I can sympathize with people that enjoyed the previous work more - perhaps you should remember that the older stuff didn't work for everyone either. Nothing will satisfy everyone - but there are objective reasons why this album is amazing and why some will like it more than the previous work.

I think the more you listen to the album the more of a relationship you develop with it that is unique, the layering present within the tracks definitely contributes to this. I think there is a lot of depth and emotion behind this album. People are too quick to judge it before giving it a chance

Thomas Meli I agree. I prefer this album because it requires a more sophisticated taste to enjoy. This album is MUCH more idm than his other albums while his other albums, though nice listening, does get older faster. The people who prefer his other albums are just behind and have not yet developed a sophisticated taste in electronic music which can take years of listening to do. Luckily for them though, Ulrich Schnauss is a gateway to a bigger and more rewarding world of electronic music. How do I know? Because I was one of them and there was a time when ulrich's stuff was the pinnacle of unique electronic for me. Then after 14 years of listening to this kind of stuff, I started finding artists like Ben Jordan and plaid, then when I went back to the old Ulrich stuff I used to listen to, it's kinda boring now. EXCEPT this album.

MrSeriouslySerious Details and arguments would be nice, instead of only stating a conclusion as if it were self-evidently true.

cloudsabove This comment was meant to be a response to DavidLaLond, but Google+ messed it up. This album lacks the melodic buildup and harmonic structure of previous albums and tracks. Tracks like Monday Paracetamol and Far Away Trains Passing By are examples of some of Ulrich's greatest work. They are upbeat with strong melodies and building drum and basslines, along with harmonies weaved within the different octaves. This album, however, lacks much melody, and instead replaces it with strange experimental noises. The beginning of Broken Homes, for example. Then, the melodies fail to really build up, and instead transition to some weird bass and drum section. Some of the tracks are catchy, and the Tycho remix is definitely a keeper, but other than that, this album has always been a bore to me, remaining underplayed on my music list.
@AScannerDarkly229 жыл бұрын
MrSeriouslySerious I'd respectfully disagree with this. Whilst it is quite a departure from his previous work, I think A Long Way To Fall is all the stronger for Ulrich moving away from his established past sound and moving into more experimental territory. Ulrich has said that he has rediscovered his love for drum and bass and electronic music over the last good number of years (he was also a DnB producer before he recorded under his own name), so this probably had a good part to play in the sound on display here. He said he felt he had done all that he wanted to with his previous sound and whilst I love his prior albums, I think this is a step in the right direction. When I first heard Broken Homes I liked it, but I did think 'Wow, this is really different', but it's actually now one of my favourite tracks he's ever produced - it's rhythmically complex and has real meat to it. Anyway, that's just my opinion - I love the album, so much so that I give the entire thing a listen through once a week.
@chadwickrogers439 жыл бұрын
