Here’s my take on Ryan... 1. He’s a preacher’s kid so he doesn’t want to embarrass himself or his parents by being over sexualized on tv 2. He doesn’t like that she’s so willing to go into sex. He won’t say it but he’s like “dang girl, you’re just ready to slob in my knob but you don’t even know me...relax and let’s make sure we like each other.” 3. Every time she says “it’s just sex” it shuts him down lol. She isn’t helping herself by minimizing it. PLUS I think he calls BS. He knows it’s more than sex to her (which is why she’s so upset) and he doesn’t want to hurt her more if he’s like “nah, I’m good” in the end. Now, I agree that it’s the same thing if he’s getting sloppy toppy BUT we’re talking man logic here. She’s initiating the head. In his my mind he would be TAKING the punnie when they have sex. Make sense? 4. He’s completely aware that’s she really uncomfortable with the sex stuff but he doesn’t care. He isn’t going to be pressured into it. He’s waiting her out until after the 8 weeks. Clara is going to have to make it plain. I think she won’t speak up because honestly she isn’t ready for him to ask hard questions. Those tears with Dr.Viviana were NOT for Ryan, they were for her. He’s trying to dig deep and she wants to stay on the surface.

Agree agree agree! I think he was turned off of her when she said she's not religious and won't raise her children that way. They have nothing in common. I also think Clara was traumatized in some way that involves the church. You're right those tears were solely about her. Possible sexual trauma-maybe at that Bible college she never went back to when she was younger. Her whole outlook is strange to me given how much she loves love and gives into it so easily. Having said that, Ryan is disappointing me as a fellow Christian. I was appalled to hear that he's letting her go down on him and not reciprocating. If you hold sex that highly then stop all the action. It's not fair to her and comes off as very selfish.

When Clara spoke with Dr. Viviana I got the impression that maybe she had a traumatic sexual experience. I remember her saying she went to Bible college for a year then stopped going to church all together. That's a big leap and very concerning to me. I don't know if Ryan picked up on that or asked questions about the experience, but my radar would be going off. Clara doesn't make sense to me. She says it's just sex and doesn't mean anything, but in the same breath says she needs to have it to establish a bond. You say you fall in love easily, but your last relationship y'all had sex 3 times a year and you never talked about anything deep. None of those statements go together. Make it make sense.

I thought they could have a breakthrough after Dr. V's visit but it seemed to get worse. What puzzles me about Clara is both her insistence that the physical/sexual part is so important while also realizing she'd never had an emotional connection through sex. Even after maintaining a 2yr+ relationship with little to no sex. In some ways she seems quite perceptive about things, but this seems to be a major unresolved issue in her own life, which makes her behavior confusing. Ryan - I'm starting to feel less that it's about him wanting to just take it slow and more about him (likely subconsciously) deciding that his wants/needs are > than hers. Why is he willing to engage in other activities but not intercourse or giving pleasure to Clara if it's about "waiting to build intimacy"? Why isn't he picking up on her frustration that's radiating off of her? I'm not saying they need to be rushing to have sex if he's not ready, but I am saying his decision that he'll just know/decide when it's time w/o giving any guideposts or showing her what steps he's taking just feels selfish.

I think Ryan feels like Karen from last season, and doesn’t want his parents to see anything of his sex life on tv, so he doesn’t want Clara to have anything to talk about either. I think he’s hyper aware of it. Off camera I think they are in a better place than the awkwardness we see with them together. But yeah they need to figure out the sex stuff and he needs to not accept any if he’s not giving anything.

Eric was pissed off because he didn't hear from Virginia for 40 minutes, if that ain't controlling, i don't know what is. Ryan makes passive aggressive comments about Clara being crazy and what makes it worse is that he laughs after saying it. With Paige it seems like she has these come to Jesus moments when she talks to friends and family but when she talks to Chris, it all goes to hell

Oh and just one note I think no one realizes about Jacob... he really was attracted to Haley and was willing to change for her. His constantly bringing up that she is not attracted to him over and over is his way of bringing himself back down to reality so he doesn't get hurt. Its his way of telling himself not to get his hopes up. This far into the marriage though, I agree he is officially checked out and determined not to let her forget that she is the one that didn't give their marriage a fair chance.

the thing about Ryan in my opinion, is that he feels the real marriage will begin once they are past the final commitment ceremony. I think he doesn't trust the authenticity of the process as long as they are on camera. So he has decided to focus on aspects of the relationship which he deems as foundational.

Agree on all points, actually. If Ryan doesn't want to be intimate until he sees how they work in the real world, he should say that explicitly to her so that she can also decide if that works for her (even off camera, as long as those two talk it out). And stop accepting sexual favors from Clara if he isn't ready/willing to reciprocate. For her part, I wish Clara would realize getting Ryan off is no guarantee to bringing them closer, and if it's hurting and frustrating her more to give when she's not having her needs met then stop. Don't play yourself.

This one of the main reasons why men don’t date women with children or at least want a serious relationship with them. When you marry someone with kids you all become one family and you make sure you have a realistic vision about respect that is given to children/parents. Once children know that only a specific parent can discipline them they will play on that and create many disagreements.
