This is what I like about Japanese female bands, they are not afraid to mix different genres and create new things. This means that their music never gets boring, even after many listens.

After all the loss, pain and mourning that Nemophila experienced recently, I had actual concerns that they might take a break from the Metal market or even dismember. But there you go (behold!): Just another unbelievable _banger_ from them. Straight to the point, honest, unexpected, unique, awesome. Simply Nemophila. In times of joy, they write joyful masterpieces ("Life", "Revive", "Rise"). In times of pain, loss and mourning, they still write a masterpiece. Unbelievable. I like to believe, that Nemophila are _purpose-driven_ : "Let's shine a light, whatever might come to pass." And "boy", do they shine. My eyes fill with tears each and every time I watch this.

Awesome band, every song is awesome and this is one of my favorite hard rock metal bands. I suggest finding their you tube channel they do a whole lot of covers, KISS, Iron maiden, motley crue, P!nk, AC\DC even Babymetal, they are exteme fans of baby metal. For Kiss they did the face paint, they sported the babymetal ponytails. Worth watching these covers.

They are going to be just fine as a 4 piece. 1st release recorded as such. Loving this song. Looking forward to more new music from them. Your first taste of the band with mixed vocals. This mix of cleans and screams is more typical of most of their catalog.

If I had a favorite Nemophila song this would be a top candidate. I personally love all of their music, so it’s hard to have a favorite, but this is fantastic. I love this type of music and genre blending. Musically, the highs darken the lows and lows brighten the highs. In other words the contrast intensifies the impact in a harmonious way. One other reactor of the many I’ve watched highlighted the cinematography. I was surprised I hadn’t even considered it as this is one reason I love Babymetal productions. In short the use of blue and red lights to convey emotions. Additionally, the spotlighting (ray of light) and use of a single light from above and behind to perhaps signify a Devine spirit is silently watching. There is a ton of artistic thought here, but the interpretation is alway left to the viewer. I haven’t found all the lyrics yet. However, what is highlighted on screen gives me the impression they are typical of Nemophila and many Japanese female bands in general. Specifically, lyrics about overcoming adversity, empowerment and growth. I might be reaching, but I don’t think so IMO. ---- On a tangent, Marty Friedman will be performing in Austin next February 17, 2024. He supports all of these Japanese groups through his Rock Fujiama channel, so I will support his band. If you are unfamiliar with him, the most often highlight in the US is his former guitar work with Megadeth. He moved to Japan around 2000, so might be better known these days over there. He has his own band, project bands, television show, and was selected as a music ambassador from Japan. His bass player for the tour will be Wakazaemon from East of Eden again. Perhaps you could react to his interview with Mayu and Saki on his channel. There is one version with both English and Japanese closed captions that are correct. Conversely, you could just react to one of his videos from one of his last to US tours. I can’t send links, but there are many videos. I like the support concert from Sacramento, which is around 45 minutes. Enjoy, from Dallas.

I was very interested to hear what they would sound like without their other lead guitarist. They sounded great! All the stuff we loved before but with some new elements to keep it fresh. Have you done their song "Life" yet? It's a must! Be sure to have the subs on because the lyrics are absolutely beautiful and powerful! The context of the MV is COVID. This is the 1st time playing together since their drummer had her baby. The group is facing her, welcoming her back! Also, someone's birthday, which is why their having cake! You may want to get your kid in on it. It's got mom vibes! Maybe a box of tissues, too. Every time I watch it, someone's cutting onions!😂

Several "evolved" versions of their earlier works showed they were on the right track after Saki's departure. So did their first round of live shows, one of which I was fortunate enough to attend here in Sapporo. However, this brilliant song should remove any remaining doubt. This is one of their very best, and that's saying a lot. Mayu also showed she's a heck of a songwriter here. This song has an almost Hanabie.-esque level of unpredictability and near-chaos, with all kinds of tempo changes, stylistic change-ups, shifts in instrumentation, scream-to-clean vocal switching, etc., but like Hanabie. composer/guitarist Matsuri's genius compositions, this song never collapses into an unlistenable mess. Instead, it retains Nemophila's unmistakable sonic signature. Great performances from every member, including drummer Tamu just flat going off. Straight up one of the best metal drummers _anywhere_. Haraguchi-san is providing a great foundation , too. She's highly capable of flashy bass playing, but also knows when _not_ to go into crazy slap mode. This was one of those times, with her bass line being this massive, perfectly-timed underpinning. With such a complex song that hurtles through all those change-ups, that approach to the base is critical. Similar with Hazuki on guitar. She's got fabulous shred chops...that she wisely refrains from using on this track, instead concentrating of some great riffage. Three-part rhythm section on this one, not just bass and drums. Total professionals... But this is definitely a time-to-shine track for Mayu, who has expanded her deathvoice capabilities even further. Already the best fry screamer I've ever heard, she's moving into darker, deeper growl territory in places here, and it fits the lyric content perfectly. Speaking of lyrics, on this song they're co-credited with their new producer hico. I wonder if that's a full-on content collab or if hico's role might have been more to provide English editing/refinement. I say that in part because Mayu's English is still fairly basic (Saki was the member most fluent in English), but also because the lyrics seem so personal. Gonna see them again next month, a longer "one-man" set and with more of the new material ready. Mayu will be playing second guitar on a few tracks, too, and she just recently bought a cool blue Gibson Les Paul for the purpose. Can't wait.

Check out their cover of (Fairy) by "SHOW YA" (the grandmothers of Rock and Metal in Japan)!!!!! Mayu's vocals are superb for this song, and it was written (I think) in 1988!!!!! Very nice total review of one of my favorite bands. Thank you. Just to clarify one thing for you. An Atheist (by the proper definition) does not "blindly" believe there is no "god." An Atheist does feel that an absolute proof of a "god" has yet to be proven. Therefore, an absolute belief cannot be given. IF someone states their entire belief that there is definately no god.....that would be an Anti-Theist. Confusing unless you understand. Atheism is NOT a "religion"......but, an admittance. AND, we have no "world view" nor requirements.. Peace and Love. We are all here to "learn" before our next life. Souls in a human experience WE are.

Such an important point about getting the message out without gratuitous sexual display. I'm no prude--I'm a normal guy who enjoys women being sexy. But when they use it to distract from the music, or to cover up their lack of talent, it just feels like cheap manipulation. And it's terrible for our girls. The epidemic of depression among teen girls probably has a lot to do with this relentless pressure to be exhibitionists.
@MrsRealistic5 ай бұрын
Exactly spot on! People like Cardi B, Meagan the stallion, etc couldn't possibly sell records without being gross. I feel the same way... women can be beautiful and sexy, but it doesn't help women when it's their entire identity.
@jawosammadennhier70625 ай бұрын
I feel exactly the same, here in Germany. The advertisement is filled with products to _make_ female teenagers "beautiful", "attractive" and "wanted". But the aim is to let all female consumers look the same, like "flawless models". Pathetic. We _need_ influencers who assure our female youngsters that they _already are_ beautiful, as they are _not ugly_ by birth, but that a _stable self-esteem_ makes them beautiful. I encounter so many teenage girls and grown-up ladies in my everyday life, and _all_ of them are "heavenly" beautiful when they *smile spontaneously and honestly* . No _layers_ of make-up needed. This is no offence against make-up, just my personal emphasis on the priority of self-consciousness, self-esteem and dignity.
