I note your comments about gas. One of the things that attracted me to the Rapido was it takes two 13kg Calor cylinders with auto change over. Or you can can have an 11kg refillable and a 13kg Calor mixture. I had thought about the diesel/electric boiler (which I have on my current van) but decided that with that amount of gas storage it was not necessary. I have bought separately two lithium 100ah batteries with Bluetooth and built in heaters. I will replace the two lead acid batteries supplied with the van. I was surprised that you only have one battery and 300w solar. I would have thought with that much solar you would have had at least a second battery.
@BrackstonesTravelAdventures2 жыл бұрын
Hi Hurley, I have a 200aH lithium battery which is way more than we ever use, the 300-watt solar is adequate to give good charge in summer but in winter will not produce much. I am installing a home off grid system with 300w panels and in October flat position on a roof in good sun will give 5A output and in cloudy days will be lucky to get 1A output. Gas is getting harder to come by few people now on groups I am on are starting to struggle getting gas. I think in the future I will be looking at increasing the vans power to sun everything on 12v or maybe upgrade to a 24v system The diesel heater is excellent as I never need to worry about the fuel due to it running of the diesel tank. I was looking at installing a 12v heater on hot water system but now you mention diesel water heating this would be something I might also look into

Thanks, why are you upgrading to 640, we was almost going to get the 600 as its better for parking but did not like to clime over each other getting in and out of bed
@richardmapley33802 жыл бұрын
@@BrackstonesTravelAdventures the climbing over each other to get in and out of bed is the main reason for changing, however we travel with 2/3 push bikes, one of them electric and the chance to travel with them inside is also a major advantage. Have loved the 600 and had many amazing trips, just need to find the ‘right’ 640 to replace it.
@BrackstonesTravelAdventures2 жыл бұрын
Understand, especially with electric bikes will be better in the back due to weight or on a hitch rack. Good luck with your search they are becoming rare to find and going up in price, I expect you will get a good price for yours. If you have not already done so, worth joining the Adria Twin FD group it will sell easy on there

If your buying a inverter, buy a pure sine wave inverter! It’s a bit dearer but way better and things like a coffee machine will work on it and won’t work with the cheaper modified sine wave inverters. We made the mistake of fitting a modified sine wave inverter and replaced it for a pure sine wave version..
@BrackstonesTravelAdventures2 жыл бұрын
Will be, i have a cheap inverter to get started but would like to get the Renogy inverter which has auto change, so when its all connected to the vans distribution board it will switch to EHU supply when plugged in and inverter battery supply when EHU is not plugged in

Looking at your 13amp outlet by the sliding door I’d be inclined to replace it with a waterproof version. I know if it’s raining you’d shut the door but just in case I’d still replace it. Love the front roof light, it’s a really nice feature and like you said makes a nice airy feel to the cab. Fitting the shunt is a very good idea, can’t understand why their not fitted as standard. They are way more accurate at showing battery state of charge even with lead acid and especially with lithium. I’ve replace my leisure battery for lithium and my goodness what a difference thats made, a bit expensive but in the long run way better.
@BrackstonesTravelAdventures2 жыл бұрын
Will never have door open in any wet weather very open to element and will do lot damage so I did not opt for waterproof socket which will be unusable with the door closed. Agree Lithium is so much better and to be honest i cant believe with new vans they are not now standard fit seeing as the vans are so expensive

@BrackstonesTravelAdventures6 ай бұрын
Hi, I have not got the van anymore we have changed to an Auto Trail but I can say we could have added an extra panel at the rear and if they where all 120 watts this would be a total of 480W. To be honest the 300 watts we had with Lithium could run for weeks no issues even in the winter months

when you mentioned the phone holder for use when travelling, is that for mapping or other? I dont have that holder on my Ducato but I do have the same media and use Android auto for map reading even though there is the fiat one installed. the fiat one is fine and you can input your dimensions for rd avoidence but i do find it frustrating that I have to alter the units to MPH etc from KM. I cant seem to find a permanent change for this.
@BrackstonesTravelAdventures2 жыл бұрын
Yes we use the phone holder to hold our phones and use google maps as our sat nav. I prefer this as the passenger can grab it zoom in on maps and change route quickly whist on the road. I find all sat nave very slow to control. This one on the van is not great for zooming in and out of the maps to see the final destination etc. Google maps also has much better live update on traffic. We now never use the fiat satnav

hi interesting review after one year of use - and lots of ideas for modiifcations. What struck me most is the amount of extra "stuff"you''ve added / carry. We have one on order - now just the 140bhp engine - and 9 speed auto (BTW the 180bhp is only on the "heavy" chassis. Assuming yours (like ours ) is on the "standard" 3500kg chassis - do you happen to know the available payload for your van as it stood before adding extra solar etc etc? Our dealer - and Adria refuse to answer any questions|! Adria quote MIRO of 2965kg for the SGX but are not 100% clear on what's included. Worse - that 2650kg doesn't even include their "standard" packs (awning /etc etc ). I found an owner's manual on Motorhomefun and that talks about "empty weight" - which includes fuel and full water tank and boiler. and makes no reference to MIRO whatsoever. How very unhelpful! So it would be really appreciated if you could provided this frustrated future owner with a better idea of available payload. We don't need to, but would prefer to, stay at 3500kg! Thanks Norman
@BrackstonesTravelAdventures2 жыл бұрын
Hi Norman, we was told the weight would be 3000Kg with all the dealer kit fitted. The solar I removed (NDS solar) was a lot heavier than the solar I fitted so will not make much difference to the weight. Removing the AGM battery and fitting lithium will also be less weight, only other items fitted are the battery B2B and MPPT which are very light. If you want to get more better understanding on the overall weight and what people have done please join the Adria Twin Face Book Group and ask on there. It has a lot of very knowledgeable people on theses vans so worth joining

I hope you've fixed the pressure relief valve on your water heater as that is a safety feature and it's extremely dangerous to override it with blue tac!
@BrackstonesTravelAdventures2 жыл бұрын
the pressure relief side will still work this does not override it, the ball bearing spring relief will still operate the yellow handle is part of the draining of the boiler which i believe moved when going over some rough ground. We have not used the boiler since as we never found we need a full tank water. If it does drain again i will probably modify it with a different safety device.

@BrackstonesTravelAdventures i guess weekend is still nice considering lights, powering devices etc. Btw great video, those 40+ minutes snapped in seconds since I started doing researches cause when I was a child I'd go on holidays with my parents on camping with a tent so caravaning is in my blood and and I started to think and consider camper van like yours vs campervan like a trailer one to pull it with my car to maybe equipe myself with in following couple of years

@@kapiczu3776 problem with this can and battery the fridge is a 12v compressor fridge and so it draws a lot of power from the batteru OK if you get electric hook up each time
@kapiczu3776 Жыл бұрын
@BrackstonesTravelAdventures i guess, as long as you have the sun during the day so the batteries can charge its Okey. Especially as you told me that you can turn off the fridge for the night since it has good isolation or at least put it in sleep mode(which for sure uses less power). However, I think that compressor fridge, even considering its flows with high power, draws its superior to anything else
