Everytime i hear Carl Sagan's quote in this I almost cry. Many people today are so fixated on material things, celebrities, what other people may think of us. Instead of exploring and getting to understand the vast worth and universe that we are privileged to have a spot in time of which we get to see it change.

@johnpl.730110 жыл бұрын
19976232 Um, you see, he says this because time isn't really linear. It is not a straight line of things that had happened being on the one end and things that will happen on the other. Time is happening all at once. Every event is happening at once. It is us who give it a unit of measurement, because we think it is as we percieve it. It is also (as Ainstein theorized) relative with space. If you travel to the other end of the univerce, the earth will be decades in the past where you to to percieve it from there. Tha faster you travel away from something the more into the past it will be (not like from a city to another but from a galaxy to another). Time is relative to positioning and speed, really not as we percieve it. It would be possible to remember the future, and not the past.
@1997623210 жыл бұрын
***** I understand what you're saying, as I've learned it before in an astrophysics book. However, "future" means things that have not yet come to pass, and will exist at a later point in time. "Remember" means able to bring to one's mind an awareness of someone or something that one has seen, known, or experienced in the past. Therefore, remembering the future is not possible because it is in the definition of remember that one must have awareness of something in the past.

We go about our daily lives understanding almost nothing of the world. We give little thought of the machinery that generates the sunlight and makes life possible. To the gravity that glues us to the earth that would otherwise send us spinning off into space. Or to the atoms that which we are made.. and on who’s stability we fundamentally depend. Few of us spend much time wondering why nature is the way it is. Where the cosmos came from. Whether it was always there. If time will one day flow backward. Or whether there are ultimate limits to what humans can know. What is the smallest piece of matter. Why we remember the past and not the future. And why there is a universe. Carl Sagan

One of the most life impacting tracks I have ever heard. I come here again and again, whenever I need to get centered. Thank you Rameses...

Find yourself sitting on a stump overlooking the city with a full moon and a warm breeze... I don't understand why this music doesn't ever come up in mainstream... then again, I'm happy watching the little people scurry around... While I'm listening to this, enjoying my world transposed on theirs =) - love it

I was at the beach listening to this yesterday and I shit you not I saw the EXACT same view as the pic in the video. The sky and the hills were the same, the high and low points of the hills matched perfectly. Blew my mind.

And it so happens that I am one of those few. It is intriguing how little we think about such seemingly minute things. Maybe because we are used to them. However, I feel it is necessary to think about these 'minute things' every once in a while, and thank them. Because if even one of theses things was gone, we wouldn't exist. We would be nothing but lifeless mass, something repeatable. But with life, with all of these 'minute things' perfectly balanced, we are unique. Life is unique, because every living thing can live how it wants, unbound by anything. Free. So thank you, 'minute things', for making me, and therefore allowing me to realize how important you are.

***** So alan was just kinda saying it? cool!
@kujal48 жыл бұрын
no. It's Alan Watts saying what Alan Watts said - it's his own stuff. Carl Sagan said plenty and in turn neither quoted or power phrased the other. Type in to Google word for word what Alan said and only Alan Watts quotes are referenced. It is, not nor has it ever been, one of Carl Sagan's best quotes ffs.

This music really makes me feel carefree from the bucket list of my own life. Makes me feel like all the things we are so desperate to experience can be seen through people we meet and beyond our mortality. Be thankful for the things you do see and try to understand the things you never will see. Because you will see it all eventually, but not all in life. There is another one after this where we will see it all!
