Also Natural Selection is one of the mechanisms by which evolution occurs, along w/ sexual selection and artificial selection. The latter of which is what is occurring in most of the cases in this video. Anyway if natural selection occurs evolution is also occurring. All Natural selection is evolution, but not all evolution is natural selection - so to speak.

My personal favorite "banana save" is in the 1980 adaptation of "The Blue Lagoon" by Henry De Vere Stacpoole. Partially because it is one of the more plausible examples since it is supposed to be set near the Marquesas Islands, and that is relatively close to where bananas are native to and were first cultivated.

I can confirm that throwing things into the sun is way harder than you think, even if you can somehow throw a person into Earth orbit, you would still have to escape the earth’s deep gravity well, and then remove all of your velocity from the person, the earth is traveling around the sun at about 30 km/s which is about 3.5x orbital velocity after escape earth’s sphere of influence. There is a more efficient counter-intuitive way to dive into the sun, but I won’t get into it, because it’s quite complicated. The point is, throwing stuff into the Sun Is barely possible with current technology. In other words, your threat scares me about as much as Nicholas II balancing on the end of a rifle and then falling on his face during WWI.

Fwiw, the Eurasian/African supercontinent arguably had worse native produce than the Americas. That is to say, maze corn and potatoes are much more calorie dense than wheat, barley, oats or rice. Hell, places like Prussia, the Netherlands and Ireland had state mandates that forced farmers to grow nothing but potatoes in the 18th Century. That's why they were hit so hard by the Potato Blight, cultivation had been geared toward only potatos in order to support the massive population growth and urbanization that accompanied the industrial revolution. The issue that the Americas had in regards to indigenous food production was livestock. The only domesticated animals in the Americas pre-Columbus were llamas, alpacas and dogs.

I'm not sure if the Mayans worshipped Quetzalcoatl but it's pretty certain that the god predates the Aztecs. Overly sarcastic prodictions has made a video about the topic if you want to look into it more.

My horses love corn shucks, and corn centers. Idk what you call them, but we eat corn on the cob, and then we take the cob to the horses and they love it. You have to be careful though, horses can die from an upset stomach, they love it, but their stomach literally flips over from a stomach ache. And they can't flip it back over

I love bringing these things up to people who talk about GMOs all the time... Granted I agree that some of the stuff their doing more recently in history is questionable... But it's fun explaining how the term gmo is actually something we've been doing since the beginning in some form or another
