For those who are struggling with the install/removal of the sleeve, a trick I've learned is to carefully cut 2 slits in the old sleeve then break it off. Then heat the new one in a toaster oven or on a hot plate for a little while and drop it on while wearing a pair of welding gloves

I don't see the part three you mentioned.

I've seen other videos where they cut a slot down the side of the old sleeve with a Dremel grinder or cutoff wheel, and use a hammer and chisel to tap it loose. Seems like a much easier way to get the old sleeve off. And it wasn't shown in this video, but I presume the sleeve area of the shaft was fully cleaned and sanded with the emery cloth before trying to heat the new sleeve to put it on? I have to wonder if the torch heat caused the shaft to expand a bit as well, thus making it take a hell of a lot of heat to get than new sleeve on.

You need to get an induction heater bro! Induction would have had that sleeve cherry hot and removed within a minute. Look up Magnetic Induction Heater on Amazon. Induction Innovations makes some of the best.

Thanks, I checked it out, and BOY, do these come to a price! Have you heard, any Chinese do a good job at Induction heaters, which come a little cheaper, maybe?

I have a question on sleeves. At least in regard to 20-30-40-60 pound Huebsch washer units, how many different sizes of sleeves are there? Are they one size fits all, or does each size of washer have its own sleeve size, or somewhere in between? I've looked on ebay and some other parts sites, and the prices for sleeves are all over the place, from "good deal" to "insane".

11:00 Wait. But where are the heating elements? No US laundromat uses machines with electric heating elements, seriously?
@nhrawashervideos65672 жыл бұрын
Nope. If you ask any American what a boil wash is 9/10 times they will have no clue what you're talking about. Most of our machines at home don't have heaters either. The ones that do use them very rarely. All we have for temperature is the hot and cold you'd get from say, a sink.

So bearing job hack??? Drum still had to come out?
@FollowingKeenan3 жыл бұрын
Most times you dont need to replace the sleeve. In that case drum stays in. If i had taken my portable torch set i could have got it.

Its 50/50, $90 to do a bearing job or $4500 for a new washer. Bearing job last 10 years.

@@FollowingKeenan I've got (4) 20# originators; (2) 40#'s and (1) 50# to do as soon as the 60's show up.... appreciate the insight. It looks like a small oxy-tank (portable) setup would work nicely for this - although, if i had a nice pole barn, that reel setup is sweet! (or even for a mobile rig!)
