Seeing Rebecca’s final moments pretty much solidifying the fact that her infatuation with David was unrequited love, just for her to be squashed by Adam Smasher still hits me. She didn’t expect anything from David the whole time but still was there for him to the end. I like how you can see the exact moment she started to like him and how it deepened but she never pressed it. That’s genuine love on her part and she was probably one of the most wholesome characters in the show.

Fun fact, Rebecca's giant cyber arms she gets after the time skip have a purpose, the shotgun she uses that you can get in the game (Guts) has so much recoil that even a completely cyber'd up V can barely handle it. It fires the equivalent of 4 shotgun shells at once and the effects are nasty. Which is how she manages to keep a body rolling in the air in one scene with her guns alone. She doesn't fuck around. On top of that she likely chose that path of cybernetics in honor of her brother, who was all about the arm cybernetics. But instead of dexterity, she opted for pure power.

The Carnage is a monster shotgun - 4 Gauge I believe. Its projectiles equal a quarter pound of lead. The standard 12 gauge? Only a 12th of a pound. I think he believed that he had to make himself stronger and stronger to protect his people, because he couldn't protect his mom or Maine. He felt he had something to prove, to both of them. He didn't know when to stop, when to walk away, when to stop putting himself in danger, stop escalating the business, settle down with the small fortune he'd made and take Lucy to the moon. I think there's something tragically poetic about that, that he got everything he wanted but got completely lost on the way there so he couldn't even recognize that fact. It's pretty heartbreaking.

I just finished Edgerunners and Beccas death was by far the saddest death for me. Depends on the out look the only character type that I can think of that can get a happy ending is a battlejunky piss off a Corp a gang or which and go down in a a frantic fight for there lives possibly with massive collateral Actually for most genres as long as the battle junky goes down swinging they die happy usually

They could just let it be only one episode with the words "Their life sucks and then they die at the end" and save everyone some time watching their pointless struggle. "There re no happy endings" is a trope not a rule. CDPR chose to write shit endings to their game and the anime.

Rebecca is the best. Especially when you realize if David fell in love with her instead, he would not have succumb to cyberpsychosis. He would have had someone he loved with him on every mission, protecting each others backs and giving him the love he deserved. That's why Rebecca is the best, she loved him unconditionally and died for him even though her love was never reciprocated .

When I finished the anime I initially didn’t get the simp hype around Rebecca. She was just small, cute, and aggressive. But then you realize she was a true ride or die for David like you said. He wouldn’t reciprocate the attention because he was only focused on Lucy. Even though the biggest slip to David’s mental health was Lucy growing distant in their relationship.

5:12 Literally one of the BEST moments in the show. Rebecca gets only a small dose of his past thru his declining mind and instead of yelling at him, desperately trying to bring him back to or take advantage of him, she gently steers him in the right direction with hopelessly-sympathetic words. Putting his health before her feelings thru pure loyalty is the last gift she could give him. Edit: I guess this is really good opinion 😅

Rebecca is a SOLO, in the Cyberpunk world it means her whole life revolves around violence and combat, with their only expertise is Murder and Death. So, her whole life she has seen the darkness in people. This may be the reason why she crushed on David hard. Even as a Cyberpunk David is as pure as you can get, prioritizing the close ones in his life. In a world full of Darkness he was a warm light. Something someone like her may never get from someone else.

Lucy is the same, only, she chose a more passive role in protecting David prior to the latter half of the story, while Rebecca was more active in his life and choosing to use the maximum amount of firepower possible to her.

when rebecca is absent from de episode 5 and 6 is because she is mourning her brother.which is sad, but also she is inplanting the big arms to protect david, also she doesnt want to see lucy and david that at the time they a couple expending all the time togheter, later she comes back in epi. 7 happy that she has david all for herself.
