The new content was great i loved seeing Sklave Rei again since in the manga we rarely saw it despite being a fairly impressive part of the Quincy's arsenal but a lot of the character decisions of this episode didn't made much or at times any sense Byakuya for example becomes suddenly uncharacteristically dumb Pepe literally tells him that he can't use love on soulless things and what does Byakuya do? he forgets restrictive Kido exists and that he's pretty good using these Bakudo furthermore Hisagi believing that he defeated a Sternritter in an inner monologue should have been cut this is the only time i feel like something should have been cut in the two entire cours since it only makes the situation needlessly complicated to explain sure there are posible explanations for it but what purpose does this really serves is beyond me

Shunsui fought guns (Stark, Robert, Lille), Byakuya fought controlling powers (Zommari, Pepe), Rukia fought her own trauma / fear (Aaroniero, As Nodt), Toshiro fought elemental powers (Harribel, Bazz B) and Mayuri fought biological manipulation (Szayelaporro, Giselle, Pernida).

I really like how they depicted Mayuri being covered in darkness, even while wearing his sun suit. Great way of illustrating the duality of his character. The new fight was also really cool, very happy that they added it.

I kind of wish Robert put up more of a fight when he went into vollstandig. Would have loved to see Grimiel making multiple looking clones like Ichigo did vs Byakuya. Except this time Byakuya is two steps ahead with his bankai laid out like a trap around the field and being used as a shield as Robert shoots all over and then is caught in his snare.

Byakuya should have gotten the “super resei” too from the palace so he should be on another level just like everyone else. I absolutely love how they made it clear that even his shikai has gotten a boost each petal is noticeably deadly he cut that bullet in half before it even got close with a single petal and swallowed the sternritter. I love byakuya as a character but he never got as big moments as everyone else so this was nice.

I had always gotten the impression that Ywhach had already decided who he would bring to the royal palace before the second invasion, and either Askin was always the only one he was going to bring, or he was the only one who was still alive when the time came (since I could also see Gremmy or As Nodt having been chosen and then just not making it.)

Gremmy was too much of a wild card to risk that, but I do think the chosen were either decided ahead of time or at the eve of the battle, probably mostly to do with team composition and useful abilities. It would be sick if Ywach actually used the Schrifts of fallen Stërnritter, at least before the Almighty fully awakened. Also, I think Bambietta could have been a Nianzol level annoyance at the Royal Palace, unless Senjumaru also hard counters her the way Mayuri did.

I think gremmy might have actually been brought to the royal palace if he were still alive at this point. His abilities were pretty useful and Ywach was there to control him personally if he were to go rogue. Imagine an auswahlen empowered gremmy. He'd probably be broken.

It was great to turn an off screen fight into a on screen feat. The way Mayuri Kurotsuchi restrain Toshiro reminded me of a doctor uses a syringe on a child. It hurts like hell but it'll be better afterwards.

I feel like Byakuya and Zaraki getting the spotlight as individuals who can fight numerous sternritter at once is a very nice way of showing instead of telling. Basic, but to the point and direct. Many shows tend to overcomplicate things with vague long explanations on a new power scale. So I like how the war has been handled so far in terms of fights and setup.

I feel like this insinuation was missed in the episode, of the interaction between Byakuya and Mayuri, also why Pepe’s love did not affect Byakuya besides possibly the Ouken robe. (Please push this comment up, or even tell me what you think of my theory.) • First off, I think Pepe’s love didn’t work on Byakuya because of his commitment and servitude to the Seireitei. This is a callback/homage to why Byakuya went through with Rukia’s execution in the Soul Society arc, willing to even kill his own sister, until Ichigo stopped it. Byakuya will always uphold the law and servitude over love, even for Rukia, hence, love. So, Pepe’s love completely shattered on impact and Pepe said do you have no love in your heart. • Furthermore, going into the Mayuri and Byakuya interaction, Byakuya saying it’s wrong to toy with his comrades and fellow captains after death, then Mayuri rebuttals about isn’t it the soul reaper’s responsibility to uphold servitude even after death, thus, leaving Byakuya speechless. I think this implication shows the connection between everything in this episode coincides.

My interpretation of how the drug works is that it actually sends your consciousness to the past if certain conditions are met. This is extraordinarily powerful, since it lets you fight opponents with 1-shot abilities much less cautiously. I'm pretty sure the market in this case would be whoever in the Gotei 13 he would be doping up with all of the improvements he's developed.

I’m praying to God that the anime does the Royal Palace invasion justice. No rushing. Minimal to no cutaways. Expanded fight scenes. If they don’t nail the next three episodes it may damn well ruin the arc for me. The first invasion and Everything But The Rain may narratively be the best section of the arc, but the Royal Palace stuff to me is the flagship moment of the whole arc. It’s the defining showdown everything led to up to that point.

I think a lot of the stuff from 600-611 that isn't in the Royal Realm will be moved to the next cour. The Visored arrival, Yushiro Shihoin ane Ukitake and Shunsui's meeting. They will have plenty of time in cour 3 and I doubt they will setup storylines in a final episode rather than a first episode.

Imo The Barrier is most likely a special ability attc h to the Glowing Suit. Also the Candice "Just having learned Volstandig". Is stated nit as clear. As the line from Giselles "You can Use Volstandig now" might just be implying "The sternritters now can use Volstandig since the Bankai medals got countered" and Ywach now allows them to use their Volstandig. And about the Sklaverai. As seen with Quilge. Absorbing enemies directly isn't really a double edge sword since the enemies may potentially have Reiatsu than can poison them. So absorbing enemies isn't always a smart choice. Add to that, they witness soulreapers taking in Hollow pills tobcounteract the Bankai stealing medallions. Un the quincies perspective they don't know that is a temporary thing so its just roght for them to not really attempt "absorbing" anyone at that point.

I agree with your theory on why Askin was chosen. I think it was also him knowing his limits and not engaging in unnecessary battles or a battle that he didn't 100% know he could win, such as when he refused to fight Mayuri. He's conserving his energy the whole invasion, being patient, being observant and avoiding unnecessary conflict.....all things his majesty would favor....and all things that help him greatly when he is part of the Schuttzstaffel.

Robert is interesting in that he uses a ballistic based weapon rather than a blade that requires one to be up close to an opponent and the risks that entails. Something tells me that, cold war spy jokes aside, he is indeed such an operative, it explains his surprise attacks alongside knowledge of certain occurances.

@@Force-Multiplier Cfyow is pretty bad imo. Tokinada feels like a lamer Aizen, lots of characters are there but don’t do anything, and others aren’t mentioned at all. It takes place after the Quincy war, yet manages to show almost nothing about souls society recovering and adjusting to new leadership. Isane for instance; she’s the de facto leader of squad 4 at that point(she obviously wasn’t promoted to captain just yet). It would’ve been interesting to see someone like her taking the leader role for the first time. Honestly, it feels like a huge waste to not focus on the any of the lieutenants who had to fill their Captain’s shoes.

In the case of whether or not to use the zombie captains, I actually have to side with Mayuri on this one. With Kyoraku coordinating and Ukitake nowhere to be seen, they’re effectively down to two captains. And as distasteful or unethical as it may be, returning three captains to the fight is the kind of advantage they just cannot afford to refuse.

One thing I noticed, when Kensei is pummeling Pepe, the arch thingy part of Tekken Tachikaze isn’t broken anymore. Did Mayuri reshape it like how he said Akon did Ryumon Hōzukimaru? Does Tekken Tachikaze even need the arch thingy to function properly?

I think I missed the whole “Akon reshaped Ryumon Hozukimaru” part in the manga, But Kensei seems to be able to moderately alter the form of his bankai given the various knuckles/spikes we see him use with it. Wouldn’t surprise me if it’s either non-essential and therefor easily repairable or also works similarly to Ichigo’s cloak where the added “clothing” is a power-meter indicator so once he’s recharged it repairs itself

Askin was most likely chosen because his ability was deemed better for engaging in combat against Zero Division, which was actually the case. See Nianzol's example as well, the Wind being extremely useful for Yhwach pre Almighty awakening.

Can we just take a moment to acknowledge this is the 2nd instance where Mayuri reclaims multiple Bankai from the Quincys? The flash hollowfication being the first, but Giselle technically having possession of Toshiro, Kensei, and Rose means theoretically she could have had them use Bankai against the Gotei. Mayuri is the GOAT

what's weird here, is Toshiro's eyes in the anime changed into red as in the manga it's still green ish. I like that his eyes didn't change as he is actually alive zombie and not a dead Soul Reaper, but it's alright

Maybe Aizen's prison attire is affecting his reiatsu in some way which is why he was susceptible to nanana's attack while byakuya wasn't. I don't it's the okin clothing otherwise like you say said it probably should've shattered

Although interrupted by each other, I like how Mayuri and Biakuya's fight overlap. Mainly because, it was PePe who wrecked the 12 division barrics during the first invasion. And well Mayuri is not the kind of person who just forgives sth like that. Besides, "stoping" Byakuya from taking on PePe with kido, I think, helps to lessen the Zomari.2 feeling of the fight.

Kubo seems to like giving Byakuya the characters with mind manipulation attacks just like his habbit of giving Shunsui gunslingers Ichigo aside each of Byakuyas biggest fights in the seperate arcs are against mind manipulators as mentioned Zomari whos the more obvious similarity but Tsukishima is also a mind manipulator of sorts

I agree, Pepe's fight was so unnecessary, since many of his past appearance was cut. Robert should have been the fight. I'm surprised why Pepe wasn't one shotted by Byakuya seeing how slow Pepe was.
