I also agree this is one of the best behind the scenes factory tour. Like a Discovery Channel documentary. Really appreciate the in-depth coverage of things that go under appreciated. I truly have a better understanding of Magnepan and why every audiophile has at one time or currently owns one.

Wow, this was a really cool factory tour! And it's a real factory making stuff from scratch, not just assembling cheap sourced components. Fun to discover a few things I didn't know about the maggies and the company too. I own seven pairs of Magnepan speakers at the moment.

Fantastic tour. I picked up my LRS+s at Magnepan today. I can’t wait to get them home and set up. These videos gave me a great appreciation for the intricacies of the manufacturing process. Shout out to Cory for making sure we didn’t slip and break a hip getting them out to the car. 😅

Very enjoyable. Thanks for posting. As the Magnepan distributor for New Zealand, and a 20.7i owner, I am of course somewhat biased, but I agree that these speakers are great, and an awful lot of care and skill goes into building them.

Fantastic Mikey on Part 1 and Part 2 of the great tour of probably the most iconic speaker of all time for audiophiles for so many decades. My first real exposure to a true high end audiophile system was when I was in college and got introduced to a person who had the top of the line Tympani 3A set up with the 4 separate bass panels and the bass and the mid/tweeter panels were biamped with the Audio Research active crossover and D76A amps. This was in the 1970s. That was my real beginning to high end audio and have been going ever since. I recently got the LRS Plus just to see what everyone is talking about and they are really great just by themselves. I tried them in my triamped system in the range of 80 Hz to 500 Hz and they sound better than the Purifi super low distortion 6.5 inch drivers. They match the line source 8 NEO8 8 inch planar drivers on each side perfectly being planar magnetic for both compared to the Purifi being a cone driver. I would love to go see the Magnepan factory myself sometime and will put that on the bucket list to do. Very educational Mike and I remember some of your past videos on how much you like Maggies too. That ribbon tweeter is incredible too to see how they make it and fine tune everything. This was really super great and one of the best tours ever. Thanks Brother. from Prof. Jim

I'm running .7s with a Freya Plus and a cheap Hypex Class D amp (made by Buckeye). The Hypex blew away my Schiit Vidar with the Maggies. I think many people have heard Maggies with inadequate amps and now that the cost of hi power amps has come way down, it's time to revisit Maggies as a value proposition. I imagine the newer higher amp Purifi amps would sound much better, but they aren't "cheap" yet like a stereo Hypex.

Thank´s a ton! I really love these insight tours of one of my favorite brands! I am very concerned how I will manage a foil change in my ribbon tweeters after watching this though... It is soooo thin and fragile, but I have 3 attempts in the kit. It was interesting how he spoked about the cross overs, mentioning as less parts and shallow slopes as possible for best sonic performance. I was hoping you had asked them about the terminals that everybody let down, being magnetic and all, but my guess is that it doesn´t affect the sound...

Great video series on the Maggies facilities! I’m left with a Q: what is a “quasi-ribbon” Maggie driver? Is it simply a thin foil conductor instead of a wire conductor attached to the mylar film?

It took a bit of digging, but I concluded it was about swapping out the heavy wires for lighter foil conductors on the Mylar. The “quasi” part threw me a bit until I realized they were comparing their foil/Mylar membrane diaphragm to a true ribbon diaphragm.

I wonder if they could laminate one more sheet of mylar over the voice coils to prevent damage in salty conditions

that would effectively seal all the voice coil wiring and the rest could be easily sealed against elements.

As a long time Maggie owner, from the MG1b through several models to now 1.7i, you could say I'm a big fan. I'm lovin this factory tour, but why Isn't the 'other' guy miked up?? Also, may I ask what camera you're using? I ask as I believe it's a DJI model of some sorts? The reason for my assumption is that wherever the camera is panning, there is severe stuttering or jerkeyness to it - awful. Didn't your editor notice it?? I have exactly the same problem with my DJI Mavic 3 drone, which I know many others have with the same drone!!
