It took Freddie 6 years to put that together. As far as the engineering it was all done by Queen. Nonsense, it did not take Freddie six years - he put it together as they were recording the album it is on - A Night At The Opera from 1975. - If it were to have taken six years, that would have been from before Queen were formed.

All the voices in that song are ONLY those band members. They laid track over track over track until it sounded like a full on choir. They laid so many of those tracks down that they almost snapped the tape it was being recorded onto. Also, Freddie said he wanted to bring opera and ballet to the masses and this was how he was going to do it, with this crazy unique song! And this was originally two songs he wrote but compiled them onto one to create this masterpiece. THIS MAN WAS A GENIUS!!!

@@dragonfly9416 you are right the record company believe because the song was so long that it wouldn't sell. However, I'm glad that they were completely wrong and that the band stuck to their beliefs about the song. There was an interview I saw while doing research for a paper I had to write; the executives of the record company really thought the song would tank. They were shocked when the opening sales of the song were so high. I believe that one of the executives was told, "the song sold 60 and he assumed that the song only song 60 copies but the actual amount was 60,000 copies on the first day." The executives were shocked that a song that long would do so well with all the limitations that radio stations but on a song.

Queen is the most innovative band in our modern music history. They took the rock game to a whole new way, it was Freddie's idea to bounce the sound back and forth ever since their first album and was kept throughout all of their music. BoRhap was recorded in the course of 8-9 days, everyone did vocals for the operatic section. John doing baritone as Roger Taylor did the falsetto vox but multiple over dubbing on vocal tracks. The engineer they had on recording this and its album "A Night at the Opera" has been engineering Queen from the start.

Freddie does all the harmony in the opening. The others are just lip syncing. They sing on the rest of the song. The highest note on the song is Roger Taylor, the drummer but the bass player is the only one who doesn’t sing. The guitar solo will make you weep. Listen for that high note during the opera part “For me, for me”. You really need to see the movie. Freddie said it too 70 hrs to record and it was Freddie that engineered the tracks and put the all together. He wanted it to sound like a whole choir was singing and it did. He wrote it on the piano and Brian May had to learn the guitar solo from that.

ruby leuty - I must speak up for Deaky. John Deacon DID SING but didn't like his voice so seldom did so. I saw them live and he sang a lot of back up but was seldom on camera by choice being shy. He was more of a baritone and his voice was fine but he had a lot of competition and felt insecure being a shy dude. Their engineer also said he sang on choruses on recordings as well, songs like Somebody to Love and Liar. When I saw them live he sang the choruses of Radio GaGa, Tie Your Mother Down and Lap of the Gods to name just a few. Saying he never sang is wrong but he just never sang lead. Deaky was also a great bassist, song writer who wrote several of their biggest hits, invented the amp that helps makes Brian's sound so unique and managed their finances when they were getting screwed by their manager which might have saved them from breaking up. I've been a Deaky fan since the early 70's. BTW, the movie had a lot of inaccuracies but I'm glad it brought Queen's music back into the spotlight.

1.2 billion views as of the same date and remains the most popular music video on KZbin from the pre-KZbin era. Although some artists - including Queen - had previously made video clips to accompany the release of songs, it was only after the success of "Bohemian Rhapsody" that it became common for record companies to request promotional videos for singles, which could be used on shows such as Top of the Pops without the need for an act to appear live and perform (or often mime) the track. The “Bohemian Rhapsody” music video saw a resurgence in popularity after the release of the same-titled movie in 2018, starring Rami Malek as Freddie Mercury. The film earned a record of its own as the highest-grossing biographical movie.

Per Freddie, "It was basically three songs that I wanted to put out and I just put the three together" and then he made a rock opera classic. One the great rock songs ever.

Have you checked out the video of the crowd (HUGE CROWD) at a Green Day concert? They’re waiting for Green Day and this song comes on … 50,000 + people all singing every word. It gave me goosebumps. That’s how iconic this song is. And I’m sure it’s a young crowd at a music festival.

I'm one of the ones who suggested you do this. So happy you did! Isn't it amazing that this was recorded 45 years ago with the technology available then? Queen was experimental & innovative. Here's a short scene from the movie "Bohemian Rhapsody". It shows how they worked on the song & recorded it in a studio set up on a farm in the English countryside. The song was Freddie's baby. It has gone to number 1 four times over the years (the most recent time when this movie came out)..oh, & the fall in this clip was real, they decided to leave it in: kzbin.info/www/bejne/i5K6Y4hom9Z5r9U The actor playing Freddie, Rami Malek, won the Oscar for best actor last year. The movie isn't 100% accurate but it's mostly true. I finally got to see Brian May play that famous guitar solo, last summer in Nashville. He still plays great. He & Roger Taylor (drummer) still tour to sold out crowds. And they were consultants on the movie. You should watch the movie, you'd enjoy it!💙🌿💚

I couldn't see if anyone else told you, but ALL the openings are Freddie singing on several tracks then put together - his voice is amazing as is his ability to direct the mixing. Oh and for those that didn't have head phones back in the day we had quad speakers and trhe music would travel around the room - we all loved Quadrophenia by The Who.....Pink Floyd......so many great albums

They were the first band in history to use compressed "digital" audio stacking which means you are hearing pure stereo, although you may think you are are hearing the vocals and every instrument, at all times, each ear can only emulate the frequency of the loudness single noise it hears "singularly" so when the band plays you are only hearing one single instrument or vocal (we only have one ear drum per ear), what Queen did is play a 1/4 of each band members piece per beat to each ear at a frequency that the brain adjust to sound as if you are hearing every note, vocal. Its wasnt until CD`s were released that this effect was truly realised. its fascinating how ahead of the times they were- Google true stereo for what i mean- im high at the mo

@@georgedickson2082 - A lot of incorrect info. Should have stuck with the facts and had more of the other members' stories too. It also made Freddie look selfish and arrogant at times while he was far from it. The band never broke up and played a series of concerts just a couple months before Live Aid. Freddie was not diagnosed until 1997. It made Deakie look irrelevant. He was very vital as the inventor (of Brian's amp which made Queen's sound so unique) and as a song writer, multi instrumentalist and bassist par excellence. The truth is usually much more interesting. At least it did bring back the music to new generations.
