full Disclosure, my last phone was the sony xperia Z5, I upgraded because the phone's back popped off when it overheated....which was my fault, I was in a hot room, playing games on it with the brightness up, it's not a fault with android but the phone itself and my own fault. As a current oneplus 5T user I can say for certain that the speaker sounds great especially when put down on a surface and blasted full pelt, it's loud and rivals some bluetooth speakers,so I don't really care for it being mono or stereo, I like my sound coming from one place. The performance is the best I've come across, face ID unlocking is also faster than the iphone X, the fingerprint scanner has never let me down, it's never failed in recognising my print, it's never failed in recognising my face especially in low light. Gaming performance is 10/10, the phone doesn't heat up while gaming, playing poorly optimized games such as dragon ball dokkan battle is an absolute joy with the settings turned up and it doesn't kill the battery as quick as it did on the sony xperia Z5. The only problems I have are the position of the headphone jack, it being on the bottom doesn't make any sense, and I'm losing out on sony's automatic optimisation and sony's powerful sound software drivers which really made the xperia Z1 and Z5 worth it, however it's not a deal breaker as I still use the Z1 to transmit my PC audio to the phone and then through the headphones. I don't care for wireless charging because at home in my room I'm not even 2 feet away from a USB port whether it be on the PC, ps3, ps4 or ps2 ( yes I use those for charging although I don't recommend using ps2 with it's USB 1.0 ports), charging speeds from a USB 2.0 port is still pretty snappy. I don't care for squeeze on the pixel and it's not that much faster than saying " Ok Google" The screen doesn't bother me but even though it's a 1080p panel it's still very nice to look at, pictures look nice. The camera is fine if I want to snap a picture or take a photo of a new cool thing I bought and use portrait mode to blur stuff, I'm not after DSLR quality but it's still pretty decent, the front facing camera is not too shabby. Overall I think the 5T sets the bar for what phones should come with, phones should really be coming with 6GB+ of ram, headphone jacks and all that lot given that 3.55m headphones do tend to last longer, so long as you pay more than £5 for a pair, bluetooth headphones still run the risk of interference ( I had a lot of interference from every set of headphones I tried from phillips and bluedio) so I don't really trust them. I hope people enjoy my long bloody paragraph and my sort of review of the 5T

I can even agree with this text being a 3T user. The 3T is also amazing with 6GB of RAM and I love the headphone jack because I'm too lasy to charge my Bluetooth Phillips headphones so I just use a cable because it doesn't require a charge. I've never been displeased with the display or even the camera. Both are amazing. Also FACE UNLOCK IS COMING TO 3T which is amazing news. Kudos to the development team at OnePlus.

A good review actually, yes you are right the flare he mentioned is basically not very important for most people and a lot of people won’t even care to use those features anyway. The only big thing they can improve on is probably the water resistance. Speakers are fine and having an headphone jack kinda helps as well, squeeze feature is not something I would consider important, S pen is good but only if you are used to it other wise you won’t really miss anything. So, yeah even without any extra features OP5T is a great smartphone that gets the basics right. I make tech based videos. If you could spare some free time kindly do give my channel a look.

I find the speakers to be great for what I'd use them for, however the headphone jack placement is a tad irksome given I'm too used to the headphone jack being at the top of the phone and not the bottom.

I don't really get the wireless charging hype that today's phones have, honestly. You leave your phone on top of a pad or whatever you call it but once you pick it up, it will stop charging? I've been using mine regularly since late 2017. It's been 4 years and it still feels brand new. The battery still holds a charge all day, it's as responsive as ever, the speaker is still decent and passes the shower test (I can discern voices over the running water), and it hasn't gotten noticeably dimmer or slower, even when juggling apps. The only negatives I've noticed are that the charging port and headphone jack accumulate lint and paper, for which I needed to get it serviced after two years, and the camera isn't good. I know that OnePlus has addressed their mediocre camera issue in later models, but something to be aware of.

It got an off brand screen as OnePlus refused to repair my screen after it fell off my hoodie pocket while riding. That's the only regret, the off brand screen isn't reliable.

S8+ is just little bit more right now, and just bought one extra Lg V30 in Blue for less. And even if many hate Lg...the V30 is damn solid phone for that price. For me the Camera on the 5T is the problem, it Sux big time compare to many other..:)

A lot of people does, it helpful it one of those feature that doesn’t seems to excite you until you actually start using it. When I used it I really like it and used it even more, it’s not just a tool for artists, it has lots of other uses. If you own a Note 8 then I suggest you to try keeping the S pen in hand while you are surfing the Internet, you will know how much better it makes your experience. You can also write notes and stuffs but that’s like the most obvious feature lol. I create tech related contents. Kindly do give my channel a look if you got some free time.

dude, I like most of your videos,,,, but you spent way to much time talking about the negatives (in your eyes) and way to little time on how this device out performs 99 percent of the competition. The iPhone x is better, and the pixel xl 2 is equal so at the end of the day, the one plus 5t is the most well priced phone out. I own the iPhone X and like it, but I rather use the 5t. I have never seen it lag. I had the note 8 for a week and it lagged daily.

I don't know how you failed to list Dash Charge as a USP for this phone and instead mentioned it as a passing remark on battery life. I find it hard to go back to QC or any other charging tech after Dash Charge, and you didn't do it justice. Other than that, it's a good review.

The low light camera performance has been good for me. It may not be as good as current flagships, but it's better than anything that was on the market just a few years ago. The near stock Android experience is also awesome! Thanks for the video.

Here in 2024 still with my OnePlus 5T. After swapping my battery in 2022, no issue to be reported so far. Still fast as other flagships even today. Edit: The volume down button is no longer working, I simply press the volume up then slide down the volume slider on the screen. The keyboard is bugging on KZbin, but I think it's an update issue, too old to be fully compatible with the new updates maybe. But it only happens occasionally and just on KZbin.

Also still using a OnePlus 5t, haven't changed the battery and I'm really feeling it. It dies sometimes 3 hours after consistent use with data and Bluetooth on. Sometimes it freezes in apps and takes some time to recovery, kinda annoying.

My OP3 did not get any slower since I bought it. And I know for a FACT that the S7 Edge did slow down sooo... Stock android is what matter most to me and to many OnePlus and Pixel fans.

Why is everyone hell bent on resolution? Even the higher range phones have around 550ppi to 600ppi which is still grainy for VR. True VR needs higher res, well into a thousand ppi... I had a 2k screen on my LG V10 and it was nothing spectacular, after that I got a Mate 9 witg FHD and loved it, now I got a Mate 10 pro with also FHD but hell...The LED tech makes all the difference in the world

This review is spot on. It really comes down to pricing. That's going to dictate which features you need in a phone and which features you can live without. And for the trade offs, I think OP did a good job prioritizing performance, battery, and price.

Don't wait for the Oneplus 6 which will be released in June because in November 2018 they may release the Oneplus 6T and Oneplus 7 in another 6 months and so on, so you end up waiting forever 😁. If you need a new device now just go ahead and buy what's available! 😎
