I’ve never regretted buying a pro model saw. And I have a big grin on my face every time I use my 361 and 661 😁

362 for professionals all day, 391 for Farm-& Home use. Saw combination that works best for me is: 194 T, 201 T, 261, 462, 661. I am a professional so i need these saws.

I just bought a new MS311 yesterday to replace a MS361. Has a 25” bar, but I’m gonna change it to an 18” bar because I have a few brand new chains from the 361. Hopefully it does ok, but I’ll know in a few hours when I fire it up for the first time to start cutting. Lol

391 , clutch drum is referred to as a " Spur" sprocket. I've seen lots of 391s with broken oil tanks, used in Comercial applications.

I’ve never understood why they make “homeowner” saws larger than 50cc. Any saw running over 4 horsepower should be professional quality in my opinion
@curtgirardin609311 күн бұрын
Yes, what's the rhyme and reason for the model numbering?
@mainstreetmower10 күн бұрын
Glad you asked. Prior to the last updates these saws were known as the MS390 (updated once so 1) and MS360 (updated twice so 2). Then back when STIHL only made chainsaws, before blowers and trimmers, there was no MS (MS stand for Motorsäge (German for chainsaw) and the 0 was in the front. So 039 and 036 respectively, during this time odd numbers were residential and even numbers were commercial with a couple exceptions. These numbers correspond to the cubic inches of cylinder volume, thus 3.9 cu/in and 3.6 cu/in
@madman4320003 күн бұрын
Wouldn't the 311 be a better comparison to the 362, same engine displacement? Unless you're comparing same power output....
@jophoto9344 күн бұрын
Forget them both. Wait for the 400.1

Is Stihl not discontinuing the MS462? So why not do a comparison of the new MS400 c and a MS391.

Just do what we here in the States do for metric to standard conversion. Use your phone or computer and use a conversion calculator.

Im kinda surprised youd use the 362 in this comparison since stihl is phasing it out next year. The rpm test and bearing size is very telling. I use an old ms310 with a 20" bar and bought a new ms400 with a 25" for most of my firewood and i hardly pickup the ms310 since buying the 400. Theyre almist exactly the same weight,but i cant bare to part with the ms310. Its been a great saw these 15 years and cut untold cords of oak and maple. I replaced the carburetor with a new oem this year because it had some pitting under the needle valve causing flooding,but ither than that its just had routine maintenance.

MS362 is not going away
@ciphercode229810 күн бұрын
@mainstreetmower my understanding (if it's the same in the United states as in Europe) is that they're dropping the 362 and current 400 to release an updated 400.1. The new 400.1 would be their only 60cc offering at 62cc and 5.3hp. That's supposed to get released in 2025

362 can barely handle a 20in bar. 25 your going to be struggling
@ciphercode229810 күн бұрын
It does fine with both. It's no 70cc saw with a 25" bar on it,but it pulls it ok.

If you put an aftermarket air filter on it and a WCS bark box, it just rips I can pull a 30 on my 362 and it doesn’t even bag out
@ciphercode229810 күн бұрын
@@courtneykensington8190 yeah they're good saws. Stock for stick a husqvarna 562 is a little faster,but the husqvarna is a fair bit heavier too. And like you said,a barkbox and air filter add alot. I prefer stihls quality and I think thyre easier to work on too.
