when a team is feilding, Wicket keeping is one of the most important factors for a team to win Imortant= rating 9, coz i feel bolwer is the most important so bowler gets 10 difficulty= rating 10. A bad wicket keeper can cost u the game. A good wicket keeper most of the time can convert half a chance into a wicket which can win you the game.

Wicketkeepers position is extremely important in play, a good keeper deserves 10 on 10 for everything. You would need Spiderman kind of reflexes to be able to do something like those keepers... a good Keeper can turn the entire game when Batsmen and ballers fails. When a spin baller does the balling, at that time the keeper stands closer to wickets, spinners are normally slower with more precision. And when its a pace baller who bowl at high speeds, at that time the keeper needs to stand at a good distance from the wicket.

The decision to be up close or further back is made according to what kind of bowler is up. When slower bowlers bowl, the ball will drop short and will not carry and the faster bowler will travel faster and further so the wicketkeeper has to stand further back. The same goes for field placings. These are decided on the knowledge of the batsman's batting habits and the type of bowler being used.

With fast bowling the speed and travel is greater hence the keeper is more likely to stand further behind the batsman. Spin bowling is slow and so it's easier for the keeper to be up close to the wicket. At times wicket keepers will stand close to the wicket for medium pace bowling too. no wicket keepers = if batsman misses any ball, it will race towards the back for runs or boundaries (called as byes). it's not necessary to hit the ball with bat to run. So wicket keepers basically are saving every run. If even one ball is missed by wicket keeper, that may cost them runs.

I told u that u will be amazed and the reason why keepers sometimes stands way further back sometimes right up the stumps is there are fast bowlers and spin bowlers fast bowlers bowl around 130kmpl to 150kmpl and spin bowlers bowl around 80kmpl to 100kmpl. There’s more nuance to the one around @7:43 if you watch MS he very casually jogs up to the stumps before quickly whipping the bails off, almost certainly in an effort to make the batsman not scramble/dive to make his ground. Fastest hands I’ve ever seen and one of the smartest ever to do it. Importance and difficulty vary, I’d argue that it’s the only job in cricket that gets harder as the quality gets lower, it’s way harder to keep to bad, inconsistent bowling, but obviously that’s only at amateur level

When there's a pace bowler - they stand far from stumps for obvious reasons . When there's a spin or slow bowler there's no need to stand so far from the wickets . I hope it clears your doubt .

He stays near the stumps when it's the slow bowler (spinners) He stays away from the stumps when it's fast bowlers. If he stays near the stumps when fast bowler bowls, it would be impossible to catch it and as it bounces more. When spinners bowl he can have enough time to react to it and catch the ball and it doesn't carry that much.
