Just small fix - Indirect function DID NOT bring list into destination because it's a range . It's not this way. INDIRECT working a bit different...

It appears when the Origin cell, in this case the countries, has nothing selected. First you need to select something from the origin and then apply the formula to the dependent cell.

Hi. Either your first drop down is empty before adding indirect formula or your table has multiple names, go to table names, check there might be 2 names redirecting you to same table. Get these resolved, it'll work perfectly. Subscribe to my channel for more tips n tricks 😊

Hi, Do check if the table names have some special characters. Only 'underscores' are allowed. I faced the same error since one of my table name had a '/' in it. I replaced it with '_' and problem solved.

@@tushargems4179 while using indirect formula, in the bracket you need to select the source location. eg. D13 in above case and not E13.

While creating the name range for the columns with different number of values in each column you could face with an error. The workaround is to select the columns one by one and name them based on the top row. this is the solution.

Is there any way in excel where if we have a data in coloumn which is suppose a time line like day 1, day 2 and so on and against each day in next coloumn there is some event or number, there are chances that the event or number can repeat. So in this case what I actually want is how can I highlight or find when a particular event is happening first time innthe time line. Eg- suppose in day 1 client 1 is there and inbday 2 client 2 and in day 3 leave is there. I just want on which day first leave is taken by the employees. suppose in day 1 expense was 1200 and in day 2 expense was 1300 and in day 3 1730 there. I just want on which day the expense first time crosses 1300 by the employees.

Please select one city for what country you wish and see what happens...when you change the country the city selected and shown before remains unchanged even the country is different....??? So before change the country you have to delete previous city selected from another country list

The same thing happened with me. However, my column header { in the example, the cells that are having India , china , canada ), was having brackets ( ) inside it and it seems that this what was causing this error to appear. after changing the cell name from (India) to India for example, I could have get rid of that error.

Hey , hope you found your way around this error if not, 2 things 1. Either the table has 2 names, that you'll need to check. Eg. Same table might be named Table 1 and as India ... Go click on all tables n see 2 or more might redirect you to same table 2. Or you're keeping the first drop down list empty .. eg. If you keep country list empty before going to data validation, you'll see this error. Hope this helps! 😊 PS do check my brief excel Tutorials
