ranihirani 2004 Let ke tell u something. At the start of the video that PhD guy told really important thing - U don’t know engineering when u are in school but u feel interested in it. That’s reality. Engineering is very simple if u want to pass the semester. But it becomes really difficult when u want to become a good engineer who is really skilled. So choose your career wisely because I don’t want you to looking for jobs in IT sector after graduating from college.

@@VY-zt3ph Hey, I'm in class 9 and I've interest in astronomy. I can't properly decide my career but I'm pretty sure I've want in astronomy or astrophysics. I first wanted to become and astronaut and then I came to know that becoming an astronaut is not only career in astronomy. And then I planned for going in Astrophysics and now I'm also interested in aerospace engineering. Will you pls suggest me what to do? And can u pls tell which is good Astrophysics or Aerospace Engineering?
@VY-zt3ph3 жыл бұрын
@@gehnamatlani See if you want a job as an Aerospace engineer it will be very difficult. Because the aerospace companies have restrictions on hiring foreign people. If you are in India I would suggest you to not pursue Aerospace Engineering if you want to make any career in it. Because DRDO and HAL and ISRO other than that you cannot find any job. I was also at your age and wanted to become an aeronautical engineer. But trust me it's very difficult. I would suggest you pursue Astrophysics and from a foreign University. If you are interested in that field then you should not shy away from pursuing a Ph.D. in it. I am not discouraging you I am just saying that you should be very good at mathematics. The mathematics which you are studying in your 9th class (I assume NCERT) is very low level. If you really want to build your career in Astronomy/Astrophysics then forget these two fields. Take the first step by becoming good at mathematics. To know whether you are good or not start preparing for JMO (Junior Mathematics Olympiad) right away. If you are laborious then by the end of 9th class you should be able to finish the syllabus of Maths of 11th class.

@@VY-zt3ph I'm pretty satisfied with doing Astrophysics too. I wished for either doing Aerospace engineering or Astrophysics, so I'm pretty good with doing Astrophysics as my career. The only thing is, my dream is to work at SpaceX or NASA. And they both consider only US citizens and it take years to get green card. Even if I did my bachelors in USA, I don't think I'll get a green card in so short time. So, pls suggest what to do and is it worth doing bachelors in USA and not in India, as I'm Indian. And do you really think going for Astrophysics is a good career and how much do they earn?? And as far as I know, SpaceX hire engineers. Do they hire Astrophysicists?
@VY-zt3ph3 жыл бұрын
@@gehnamatlani Gehna, working at spacex and NASA is a dream which will most probably never come to be true. But if you really want to become aerospace engineer you can do that by pursuing Mechanical engineering too. Or Computer science or Electronics. Because rockets are made up of not only jet engines right. You have to track them via computers. So Go for core engineering field in USA because that will give more opportunities other than spaceX and Nasa. Mechanical engineers in USA are very valuable.

I'm awaiting your reply 😊
@shashanksharma50224 жыл бұрын
I think the environment and culture in the US will be significantly better. In the US, 100% of your batchmates will be interested in aerospace, because they made a decision to choose it. In India, most people take core engineering branches because they don't get CS. As a result, you will always remain the odd one out to actually be interested in aerospace. Moreover, you will mostly see non core companies in placements and even the few core companies that do come, will offer significantly lower salary than non core. As a result, everyone in college will focus on competitive coding from 2nd year onwards to be able to get a good high paying job in placements, and you will seldom find people like you actively pursuing their interests in core engineering. The job opportunities and salary will also be much better in the US. India has very meagre job opportunities in the core sector because it mostly does IT. I wish someone had told me all this before I started my undergrad BTW.. All this I told you is the situation in an IIT. The situation in non IITs is expected to be even worse

@shashanksharma50224 жыл бұрын
Why take CS ? It's not like you'll be jobless if you take aerospace. Sure, you probably won't get a job in aerospace (as it's India) but you can still get a job as a software developer / data scientist / product manager etc. You don't need a CS degree to be a soft dev. You just need to know how to code. Going from CS to aerospace will be practically impossible, as the CS degree won't even have calculus in it (not to mention that aerospace ms programs will probably have mech / aero bachelor's degree as a requirement). You will have to learn all the math as well as aerospace on your own. So, it's better to take aerospace now, if you seriously like it

@shashanksharma50224 жыл бұрын
Wow, you have started cp before college ! That's brilliant. There is no strict rule that non CS majors can't take part in ICPC. That's all in your head. So taking CS for it is immature. See this: www.quora.com/Is-there-any-non-CS-or-IT-student-who-has-qualified-for-ACM-ICPC-from-his-college-or-from-regionals-How-did-you-prepare-yourself The additional things that you have to explore for yourself are these: 1. Take a look at any CS curriculum, let's say IITB. You can tell my immediately looking that it isn't made to turn you into a software developer. It's made to prepare you for doing CS research - either CS systems or CS Theory (For AI, other branches are okay too) Are you interested in CS systems research - How a computer actually works - The architecture, OS, compilers, networks etc Are you interested in CS Theory - Abstract theory of which problems are solvable by computers (P = NP problem , algorithms, etc) (I think you would be interested as you are doing already doing cp) If you are interested in doing research in either of these two things, only then your bachelor's education in CS will be useful to you. All you need to become a soft dev are a basic understanding of algorithms and some general knowledge of what a processor, memory, threads, compilers etc are 2. If you take a job after undergrad, you will become a software developer, which will not use that much cp (You need cp only to get placed). Your work will be to use an already developed API to build a software product. Does this interest you ? When you see an app on your phone, are you like - I want to build this ? Sure, there's work related to systems also in industry, but those are extremely rare, and I don't think you can get those from non IITs. Most current work in industry is on application level software So, if point 1 suddenly seems very interesting (more than aerospace) take cs. Taking cs will limit you to jobs in point 2 after undergrad, so consider that too. But those jobs can be achieved with other degrees too But if you are still interested in aerospace, and have the family support and inclination to do an ms, take aerospace You are one of the few lucky ones who also has a backup plan if the ms doesn't work out, as you are already into cp
