Trim is a function of more modern operating systems (windows 7 and above) that trims the ssd so it will work properly. XP doesnt have that so the speed of the ssd will degrade over time. Im looking for ways to enable trim on xp on a pata drive myself.

All new ssd disks has a garbage collection and now trim is not required especially on older OSes.

I think it's about revisions. Many devices get newer components a year later because of (lower) costs for manufacturing.

Check that Wi-Fi button mate. Most laptops have a special Wi-Fi button on the keyboard, see if it's turned on. Also, check if you have the correct (most of them are Intel) driver installed. I usually get my drivers from a second computer, place them on a USB and go back and forth until i have the correct driver.

@@hooiong4597 If you type in the model in a search engine, you should end up at the manufacturer website which has the drivers listed. If I remember, they were XP drivers.

I just used a regular Windows XP ISO image and booted it from USB boot.

Hi, you can easily find the same stuff used in this video on Aliexpress, just search for it. I think the M2000 uses DDR2 RAM modules, which can be found on the cheap on Aliexpress as well. All together this should be a very cheap upgrade, good luck!

@@foxyridergaming9198 i dont think that removing the drive, will actually allow you to go to a upgraded OS. It may run W7 or W10 on its own by default (although the experience would be awful, considering the hardware) and i chose XP on purpose because of it's older hardware.

I suspect SWAT isn't running because you're using a GOG release, which are not compatible on older versions of Windows such as XP. Try to find the original ISO. Why'd you have to destroy that Toshiba Satellite Pro 4600.. that's a nice computer btw

I have the original discs/game and that didn't work as well. I'm still assuming it's a (graphic) drivers problem. That Toshiba was too expensive to refurbish. I checked what was needed to do so, but it would rack me up like over 100 bucks just to get it working with a special harddrive, ram and much more. So I used it in a joke haha.

You should definitely use it for nothing more then retro gaming. Games from the early 2000's to mid 2000's should do fine. Nothing more then that. Upgrading to W10 is something you could consider, but the OS would be too heavy, and most older games wouldn't run on it. It's best to stick to XP or, max, W7. It's always a win situation to switch to an SSD (in this case, a PATA one) and the best place to look for a replacement battery is Aliexpress.

I dont think clocks and cycles really matter in such an old laptop (imho) so take any DDR that fits, it will all make it better.

I think because they are niche products. It's expensive to build running factories that produce that little quantity.
