我用了MSB Discrete 幾年，可靠高、靚聲音質穩定，最緊要是廠家Daniel 和Johnathan 有問必答提供一流服務，我由Esoteric upgrade 到MSB Discrete 重省唔少玩鐘錢。 I have been using MSB Discrete for several years. They have high reliability, great musical natural sound quality with wide and deep sound stage and stable high quality. The most important thing is that the manufacturers Daniel and Johnathan provide first-class service by answering every question. I upgraded from Esoteric to MSB Discrete and saved a lot of money.

You need the 2nd power supply as a minimum to realize the full capabilities of this DAC. You can also buy it with the Premier Power Base and later upgrade the DAC portion to the Premier as MSB gives you 100% of what you paid when you go up the chain. I have the Premier, and I started with the Discrete.

Thank you for your comment. I've heard many responses suggesting that using two power supplies makes a significant improvement. However, borrowing equipment sometimes makes it difficult to have all the options, so there may be some limitations. I hope to try the Premier DAC as well, hoping it will give me an excellent performance. (Ken)

​@feverSoundHK In the settings of the MSB DAC pls choose high output, which is close to 4 volts and no problem. That's how I use it and also I have the volume control set as off - DSD optimized. Not sure why in the manual MSB says to use low output which does not make sense especially with XLR

In terms of sound quality, the A-3 is undoubtedly superior, with a solid driving force, but it requires some consideration when matching speakers, and its price is also higher. The driving force of the Boulder is more traditional American, able to handle a slightly wider range of speakers, and the price is also more affordable. When pairing with the MSB Discrete DAC, due to its relatively low analog output gain, I would choose not to activate its volume control. In this case, the volume control of the two amplifiers, A-3 is more superior. (Ken)

Thanks for this review. I have the discrete dac with two discrete PSU. It has more analogue and musical sound compared to DCS Bartok 2.0, which provides more ambience details. I like the discrete best as dac/preamp to power amp. It is very transparent and detail. I find that no preamp is needed. That’s the way that MSB intend as they offer power amp for their dacs and no preamp or integrated amps. MSB remote control is a joy to use compared to DCS mosaic app for volume change.

Also wanted to add a pre amp is a must, the MSB DAC is optimized as a preamp if you are using their own MSB power amps as they are impedance matched for each other and you need the Reference or Select DAC as those have a far superior and proper analog stage which the Discrete and Premier dont. My pre is the McIntosh C1100 and power amp is the MC1.25KW. The C1100 is simply way superior and I dont believe any DAC can replace a good preamp.

輸出低，接收一方靈敏度必需要夠高才可，所以夾配時要多留意。另外，ADAM Genelec 都是著名監聽音箱品牌，選哪一個也錯不了，只是看你的喜好而己。這是小弟作為曾經長時間使用 ADAM 及 Genelec 用家身份說（國仁）

10萬元跟100萬的音響真的有聽感區別嗎？有人很早期曾做個雙盲試驗讓一群發燒友去區別平和貴的音響，結果說明根本聽不出區別。音響到了數字化時代以後這情況更明顯，基本上幾百塊的DIY和幾萬塊錢的設備都不會有區別，區別只在於視覺和手感。大家有否發覺燒友現在返璞歸真玩膽機和黑膠碟嗎，他們都陶醉於落手觸摸和觀看他們的音樂。我不是說貴價音響設備都是騙人，我只不過想說，用一萬塊錢能聽到完美音樂的99.9%，但有人卻願意多花99萬去繼續追求99.99%的完美，而那多出來的0.09%的完美都是無法用科學去量度的。發燒友對音響的追求其實只是一種信仰而已。如果說話有冒犯之處，還望多多包涵。
