How exactly would a background in physics relate to neuroscience? Would this person be the expert on imaging techniques? Do more on the biomedical engineering side? Or would the physics graduate be just as involved in the cognitive aspects of neuroscience as someone with a bachelor's in psychology?
@eamonnwalsh73095 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your question. Neuroscience at King’s is multidisciplinary and involves people with differing backgrounds such as biomedicine, neuroscience, neurology, psychology and physics. As part of a multidisciplinary team, a person with a background in physics could bring their expertise to bear on a problem e.g. in trying to understand and treat a disease in a particular way. This could include as you rightly point out, (neuro)imaging and / or biomedical engineering techniques.

Hi, I wanna ask a question. Is it possible for a student to go for Phd in Neuroscience while his or her background was B.HSc in Psychology and M.Ed in English? Please give more explanation on this. Tq.
@eamonnwalsh73094 жыл бұрын
Hi, Thank you for your question. It depends a lot on the PhD; a background in psychology is especially relevant for PhDs involving cognitive neuroscience and neuroimaging, though less so for more biomedical PhDs. An M.Ed in English is useful as writing is an important skill for a PhD. Analytical, problem-solving and interpersonal skills are also key.

Hello, is a Bachelors in Pharmacology eligible to apply for this Masters course
@eamonnwalsh73093 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your question, Dera. Yes, someone with a Bachelor's in Pharmacology is eligible to apply for an MSc Neuroscience at King’s College London. Any biomedical or science background provides a particularly good foundation. Many of our Students have a Psychology background. Whatever your training, a 2.1 class degree or higher is usually required to demonstrate academic ability, though Admissions will always consider ‘the whole person’ (e.g., education, personal statement, reference) in their application.

Can an electrical and electronics engineering graduate who also has a minor program degree in biology apply for this program and is my chance of getting accepted low
@eamonnwalsh73093 жыл бұрын
Yes, graduates with an electrical and electronics engineering can apply. Applicants with this background are often attracted to the computational aspects of neuroscience, e.g., computational neuropsychiatry which is covered in the MSc Neuroscience at King's. Neuroimaging is another area of neuroscience where an engineering background and skillset can be an advantage. Certainly, mention the minor program degree in biology in your Personal Statement, as this will strengthen your application. With a 2.1 class degree or higher, your chances are quite high, though remember that Admissions will always consider the entire application (e.g., personal statement, reference) and not just education when making their decision. Thank you for your question!
