MSC Seaside Food - Is it like this Preziosa Buffet: Breakfast, Lunch, Tea Time, Dinner?

MSC Cruises Dining. Buffet Tour.
MSC is a growing budget cruise line. The ships are relatively new, glitzy, with the single most attractive point: low fares.
Although not always the cheapest, MSC cruises offers very low fares in the Caribbean.
You want to save on your cruise vacation, do you?
The cruise line also wants to save.
The way they make profit is building huge ships, fitting as many passenges as possible in the smaller cabins, and supplying basic food.
So we definitely don't cruise on MSC to eat.
The food is mainly mish-mash of carbs, easy made, with no distinctive flavor.
And.... crowds.
If you accept this game - go for it. Just set your expectations accordingly.
Remember that cruising is a pleasure.

It looks fine to me. MSC is a budget cruise line and they have my attention. The lower prices might well mean that I can cruise a little more often. Even things that I see some folks complaining about, such as canned fruits, I have friends with dietary restrictions who can't eat the fresh, so that would be a major plus for them, and they have plenty of fresh fruit as well. It is not five star, but what I see is more than adequate and a very good value for the price of the MSC cruises. I generally drink water with my meals anyway.

I think with feeding thousands of people, it looks pretty darn good to me. There are ships that are geared towards gourmet dining which I am certain you would pay a lot more for. I think at any buffet you will find a handful of things that you particularly enjoy.

Very healthy foods. As to be expected by an Italian cruise line whoms main market is Mediterranean. My Spanish husband and I (I'm English, 21 yrs living in Spain) will enjoy these foods ! We certainly will maintain our usual diet whilst on-board and not put on lots of weight, like when we cruise American cruise lines !

I sailed on the Seaside on the first 7 day cruise in January. The pizza is the best ever!!! The ship is beautiful. Now for the bad part; travelers are very rude, buffet choices are poor. Formal dining room took 2 hours each night for dinner and food was marginal. I have been on 23 other cruises and would never go back on MSC. Too bad because the price was good and the ship is beautiful.

i have traveled and experienced the msc seaside 2 times.It was wonderful , this video may make it look bad , but it is better than any other cruise ive been on . It has great entertainment ,room service, and food .They have an ethnic section, rottisserie , bakery, fruits and italian .Honestly in general ,this cruise was awesome and f you are watching this video, maybe you should find a better video that actually gives a tour of the ship. ;)

So. It's 99% carbs and animal-based fat plus a few fruits (some if it canned in sugary water no doubt). Saw one type of pickled fish for breakfast and no berries. Thanks very much for doing this video though, it sets my expectation level right.

Hi Simon, MSC food vs competitors (Carnival, NCL, Royal Caribbean, Princess) is the least appealing. It sounds like Italian food on the menu, but in fact it's just budget food (imitation). In most cases it does not taste like authentic Italian food. Think of a glass of beer "enhanced" with a half glass of tap water. It helps them to keep prices low. We frequent their "Mediterranean corner" in the buffet if available. This is a selection of Italian deli foods (mostly "Italian style" foods made in Canada - Caribbean cruises). Everything that is not cooked tastes better on MSC. If we are not in the YC, we never have "a full dinner" in the MDR or in the buffet. We have something from here + something from there. Happy cruising!

we were on the seaside and the armonia in 2019 both very good the pizza on the seaside was much better but over all both buffet were good the seaside being a much bigger ship had more choices at the buffet the dinning room on the Armonia was not only much better the service was also excellent on the seaside it sucked

Oh dear, I'm traveling on Devina next month. Doesn't look too appetizing at all. Is it true, water is the only complimentary cold beverage? I was on Celebrity Equinox last year. Food was excellent. The roast beef in the buffet on embarkation day was so tasty I can still taste it, and the salads were numerous and tasty. Didn't like the hamburgers on the deck though, the buns were dried out and crispy. Often dined in the buffet even for dinner because I enjoyed the food that much.

Hi JS, If you cruise in Europe you'll need to pay for table water and coffee in the main dining room. On our Med cruise the beverage dispenser in the buffet was just closed at lunch time: only tea/coffee and tap water were available. The beverage "system" for the Caribbean cruises is the only thing that is different from general MSC product. It's basically the same as on other cruise lines, but selection and quality may be subpar. MSC is not a cruise line for foodies - to say it nicely.

Every cruise line is different but they all have certain food and drink items that they upsell. Carnival for example gives you free tea and lemonade all day and free milk, chocolate milk, coffee, Oj and some kind of fruit punch for breakfast. Water is free but not the bottled water. Soft serve is free all day and night but other lines charge for ice cream. All lines have free and paid food. There is enough free to keep anyone satisfied. You have to do your research to figure out what each line charges for.

Just got off a 15 day Hawaii trip on Star Princess. Food was not awful, but certainly not like on the Regal. The older ships seem to really get shortchanged when it comes to food quality. I'll take your word on Yacht Club & skip it.. We booked a 14 day back to back on upcoming Enchanted Princess next year. I'll check Sky Princess for a feel of the quality in Club Class. If not better than Star Princess, will cancel booking & go back to Oceania.

I was on MSC Armonia a few days ago and the food was worse I have encountered on a cruise. I eat pizza and Ice cream for 7 days. The staff was unfriendly and gave the impression that it was pain to be at work. No more M S C for me.

I was on the seaside from january 20 to 27 2018 just last week. The fodd ship and crew were awesome but most of the people were just freakin rude ass pigs that you thought were starving to death. knock you out of the way teenagers and kids grab something by hand and stand right in the way to eat it.I never liked buffets on land for this reason and on a boat its just ten times worse

For fantastically good buffets at no extra cost and the use of any restaurant, try Saga Ocean cruises. All inclusive and very civilised, waiter service from the buffet if you do not want to stand at the counter or carry a plate with one hand. But waiter service is normal in the dining room, on the aft deck and in bars at no extra cost. When Saga say their cruises are all inclusive they mean it. even the transport from home to ship. I went on a four-week cruise to the Caribbean in February 2017 and a car for 250 miles to Southampton was included. Same again this year for three weeks in the Mediterranean in February 2018. And we were going in and out of ports where there were those big cruise ships like blocks of white flats stuck for days in one port because it was not safe for them to leave the harbour. You only need to look at the classic lines of Saga Sapphire or Saga Pearl to see why they are so good and stable crossing the Atlantic in winter.

It is up to you to insert more sound absorbent materials if you are getting so much noise, and of course you are making it worse because they have to shriek and shout to be heard over the piped music. I have just returned today from a three week cruise with another line which had no piped music anywhere, so all the passengers could hold conversations over their meal tables in a civilised way: much less stressful. Noise level causes stress, especially if it is not your choice of noise, /"music".
