Thank you SO much! I actually thought my Hotas was broken, it's quite old and I used to use it in Elite, but haven't played that for a while. So when I went to set it up for MSFS on Xbox series X, and found the anomalies you showed, I presumed the Hotas was useless and went back to controller. Thank you! My dad is a private pilot and has played flight sim for years. We got him the Xbox x and flight sim and the T.Flight Hotas one for his birthday earlier this month and he has been a bit frustrated with the controls, as you can imagine. He’s not at all tech savvy so I get called in to help and your video was very informative. One thing I am wondering about is the fact that there doesn’t seem to be a way to change the hat to pan instead of snap to the quick-views. Also, it’s pretty much impossible to navigate the menus fully using the hotas, which is extra infuriating, because it’s already a pain without a mouse.

Will it be offered as a marketplace hot fix and updates any thrustmaster that is attached to a xbox regardless of if you want it or not? The process would be good to know.

Brilliant. I am so utterly disappointed in the poor implementation of the configuration for the HOTAS in MFS xbox. I've been duplicating and testing for days to make a workable config. Because of the terrible config we're stuck with, the ability to pass the Activities is also hampered as the system does not acknowledge the default mappings. Trainer tells you to turn on Smart Camera mode and does not recognize the pilot input. Trainer asks you to perform a pitch down, and does not understand the input. My investment so far has been a new xbox, the FS software and the HOTAS one. I'm miserable. $800 invested and cannot even play the game as delivered. It works for free flight, but you get my point. Thank you for the video, I guess I'll wait for an update. Subscribed and followed, notifications on. Hoping to hear something soon.

Thank you for this video!!! Came here after playing with those same menus, thinking that either the Xbox wasn’t supporting all of the axes, or that maybe I had to do some settings somewhere in the Xbox settings to enable the joystick to be recognized or something. This confusion was entirely because of the Search By Input box showing the wrong values, just as you showed. It was SO GOOD seeing someone else had the same issue, so I knew I wasn’t alone. Keep up the good work!

For anyone passing by.. If you get creative with your hotas button bindings in addition to using your controller on the side, that helps.. And for the loose throttle, get some duct tape (I used Gorilla Tape). - I use two little strips of tape on both sides to where at the base of the throttle stick the tape forms something like a T, with the longer strip being on top. So that it glides in a ramp-like fashion towards each extreme of the throttle range; increasing in resistance the closer I get to minimum or maximum. - Just make sure in your controller screen that you can still go from 0-100 with your throttle range and that the tape isn't cushioning it, preventing the last one or two percent. Then it's actually pretty good. 👍

For what it’s worth, I run flight sim on Series X, with my HOTAS one using a developer preview console build. Can’t replicate the issues you have with my HOTAS one, so hopefully a fix is on the way for everybody.

As for the lack of an axis setting for reverse thrust.. strange it can’t be setup- especially since the throttle hardware has a built in deten, you would suppose is there for just that purpose.. anyway; ‘decrease thrust’ is the way the bravo throttle deals with reverse thrust and since my x-box is my traveling rig, I’m happy with that functionality.. ..also very much appreciate the rebinding of the trigger.. a much more intuitive application for the service brakes.. and I never use the ‘smart camera’ anyway..

Problems I found in the Configurator for my Joysticks on PC: Pressing the assigned buttons no longer highlights/shows the displayed button being pressed Also, for the Assigned buttons/axis: if you expand/collapse, when expanded after a few expand/collapse, in expanded, it shows non assigned commands as well. If you collapse then expand, only Title categories are expanded, not their children! It worked PERFECTLY before Sim Update 5 ... This is a mess indeed.

Hi Mark, thanks, not on the Xbox myself, but that must be disappointing. You would think they test before releasing. On PC I noticed that after update 5 the profiles load very slowly and when you select a button you have to also un-select it before the interface will let you continue saving, navigating etc.

The throttle tension is equally horrendous. I heard the throttle can be taken apart and replace the spring to have better tension. I am looking for suggestion/link to a better replacement spring.

I stupidly bought the Hotas One on the understanding that it was supported on Xbox Series X from launch. I mean, I watched Jorg Neumann (head of MSFS) saying as much on KZbin videos, spouting what I now realise was Peter Molyneux level Walter Mitty bull. MSFS forums full of complaints, which are being ignored. Weeks and weeks later, still no hot-fix, or solutions. Shameful behaviour and typical, sadly.

Hey so I’m on Xbox Series X and haven’t even booted up MSFS yet and haven’t plugged my hotas in ever since I’ve installed MSFS (I’ve only used the hotas for Elite Dangerous), and I’m wondering how I would even go about installing drivers or magazine files since I’m on Xbox (and don’t have a PC at all). Because I keep seeing people mentioning downloading and managing software for this game and controller on the Xbox, but as far as I’m aware you cannot directly manipulate or manage those things on Xbox. Apologies if this question is too wordy and/or unorganized :)

Thrustmaster Hotas one is supported with a default config directly in MSFS. You can download add ons in the sim from the inbuilt marketplace tab

Hi, yes they have now fixed this. I use B1 as part of my camera settings. You can change the axis (left/right) on your rudders in the control options menu. In real world push the left rudder forwards and the aircraft turns left.

I am new flight sims. Just started yesterday! I think I fixed all of these problems by changing 1 setting in windows. By reading the Thustmaster manual. I figured how to add trim to the rocker arm on a windows PC without changing bindings in MSFS2020. If you go to all apps or Programs depending on your OS. /Thrustmaster/Control panel/Properties and change the axis from 4/6 to 5/8 the throttle’s rocking button and the rudder axis on the TFRP rudder pedals system (sold separately) become independent of the handle’s rotation. So after doing this. Toggle smart camera is fixed. now it is F1 button. Not sure if this is a problem on xboxes. but if it is? see if there is a option to change the axis to 5/8 in settings

I'm going to throw a remark or two about the quality of this flight control set-up. First and foremost, it is NOT a Saitek. Wished it was. As for how cheaply this thing appears, it works even less. Mapping the buttons and switches mean nothing if it causes flight sim to crash when you use it. Microsoft states they and T.Flight are aware of the issue and are quickly working on a bug fix. So for now, my $215.00 Hotas is sitting in a box and I'm using the Xbox Series X controller. 2 out of 10.

Mine has stopped working on the beta 10 update on the Xbox. It don’t control my plane at all or the pedals. I went back to the standard version and it worked again. Have you had this issue?

So instead of this T.flight HOTAS I am trying to use T.16000M with rudder on Xbox series X. Anyone experience with PC mapping software and perhaps a mapping to share? So basically with Xbox app on Windows 10 one can stream locally from Xbox to PC vice versa so to run FS2020 on Xbox series X while using a 'mapped' HOTAS controller through the PC app.

My t flight only works on my when my controller is on. Basically my xbox controller is my mouse for the menues and then once in cockpit i can use the hotas for everything.

I tried my HOTAS for the first time today & it just wouldn’t work at all!! Couldn’t even get the game to register throttle up or throttle down, no control on the stick whatsoever!! The only functions that seemed to work were pause & the A button!! Hi mark , all was fine until suddenly the axis on back of throttle now is the same as the axis on my twist joystick... I used to have trim back of throttle, and rudder on twist joystick.. now they're both the same axis so if one does something, they both do.. any idea how to fix? All was fine until I landed at an airport, suddenly atc weren't making any noise (still talking on text but couldn't hear them anymore) and my hotas went all messed up...

I’m not sure, but sounds like your hardware is faulty. Uninstall your TM drivers completely and reinstall. Worth a try.

I think on Series X. The console in accessories dont even see it connected when you connect it. The X button dont even light up when its connected. I think that some of the problems. The console itself is not recognizing it, and no mapping for it as a controller does.

I can’t find the answer to this question anywhere else. Can I use the HOTAS for the flying, then use a mouse within the cockpit to push buttons in the plane? For Xbox Series S

Hi Mark. I know this video is for Xbox set up with the thrustmaster T flight Hotas one, but I am hoping you might be able to help me. I have msfs2020 for PC and are using the hotas one Joy stick. I am having an issue with elevator trim. In the configuration window the default setting for elevator trim is Joystick slider X- and X+ on the throttle quadrant. The sim recognizes this input , but when I play the sim this input is not recognized. I can only move the trim with the use of the mouse for some aircraft (Some I cant move at all, or it moves back to its original setting) I have all AI help settings turned off for the pilot. I am hoping that you may have heard of this issue and know a fix. Thanks in advance.

In PC mode the TQ has two modes….(Xbox button light on and light off). Check your documentation and online. Suggest reconfigure to simple mode - light off. Hope this makes sense.

@@SimHangerFS thanks for your reply. it does make sense, but that was not the issue. Issue is fixed now. I had set an input on the keyboard which must have interfered with it as I reset keyboard to default and it works great. thanks again

Have they fixed the fact that your sensitivity config settings don’t persist upon restart of the game?

@@SimHangerFS At least, if you leave the game in Quick Resume mode, it will keep track of your sensitivity settings. For now, this is a nice workaround.

Only thing I need is hat button for freelook and I can't even see the goddamn button in the controls! Bought the hotas for this game guess ill have to wait a year for an update before I can play the game. So fkn pissdoff!!

I put the POV as look around, BUT I would like to had POV (up and down) for trim by pressing simultaneous (A) TRIGGER. Do you know how to set this? Since Hotas doesn’t recognise POV when you touch it in scanning, I can’t make it to work, POV UP + (A) trigger. Can you help me? Best regards

Just purchased this for my birthday and I can’t seem to get afterburners in the F-18 at full throttle. Do I need to change the throttle axis at all?
