I worked with Piero when he was new to the ceremonies department. He was quite handsome and fun-loving. He did not speak English in those days, and I will never forget the day in St Peter's before a papal mass when we taught him to say "fucker" without telling him what it meant.

@vonshlizong The context of this epistle is Paul's general instructions to Timothy on how to be a holy and pastorally effective bishop. Besides Scripture, Paul appeals to oral tradition (as he does in other epistles) as a source for apostolic doctrine "what you have heard from me before many witnesses entrust to faithful men who will be able to teach others also" (2:2; cf. 1 Cor. 11:2; 2 Thess. 2:15).

@vonshlizong But notice the Greek, pasa graphe theopneustos. This means "each" or "every" Scripture is inspired. This complicates matters further for Protestants. For if Paul is pointing to sufficiency in this passage, he's designated each book of Scripture as sufficient in itself for the tasks he goes on to outline. But that of course is not what Paul is saying.

I don't expect Msgr. Marini to remain as Master of Pontifical Liturgical Celebrations under Pope Francis. He did a fine job under Pope Benedict XVI by bringing a greater awareness to the real beauty and truthfulness to the Liturgy since the entire Church looks toward the Pope and his liturgies.

I don't want to give a judgment simply because i'm not an expert in Liturgy, i'm merely acknowledging the differences between the two Marinis. However I'm not going to lie, I do prefer Msgr Guido, I personally think his style is definetly more appropriate and dignifyied, however this doesn't take anything away from the former Master who has served the church for 20 years! thats a lot and therefore he deserves all our respect and gratitude.

If Monsignor Guido Marini is ever going to be bishop (which I think is the next step...HELLO Pope Francis), then he's probably going to have to give up his current position eventually. And that goes for Monsignor Konrad Krajewski too. It would be nice if he eventually became cardinal so he can stay and vote instead of being (literally) on the outside. Until then, I'm more than happy where he is.

Contrary to the common Protestant assumption, the phrase "word of truth" is not restricted to Scripture alone, but includes oral tradition as well. For example, in Ephesians 1:13 end Colossians 1:5 "the word of truth" refers specifically to Apostolic Tradition, not Scripture.

Paul's use of the Greek terms artios ("suitable" or "correct") and exartismenos ("having been furnished") does not imply the sufficiency of Scripture, on purely lexical grounds.

@vonshlizong Revelation 22:18-19 refers to the book of Revelations alone. It could not possibly be implying the Holy Bible, because it mentions “in this prophecy”. Furthermore, the book of Revelations was added to the Holy Bible in the 4th century for the first time. And what is more important, John’s Epistles II and III were written in 98 A.D., two years after the book of Revelations! If this verse therefore implies all of the Bible books, then they too would have to be left out of the Bible.

Piero Marini was a disaster for tradition. All of our beautiful Catholic customes were almost washed away. Thank you Guido Marini for restoring what you could. It is time for the Sedia and perhaps the Flabellum at least on the balcony of St' Peter's when the Pope gives his Blessings. These things should not only be seen in museums.
