@@Bryysanity normally it will default to the native speeds, you need to turn on XMP in the bios to get the overclocked speeds

Do you have any sound popping/crackling issues? I have this board and can't figure out what's causing the audio crackling/popping. It's not driver related, and it's not GPU related. Tried using hdmi to 4K HDTV, and tried using audio jacks in the back with speakers/surround sound system. Both have the same issues with the crackling/popping. Done 4 days worth of troubleshooting with reinstalling windows, updating bios, chipset drivers, disabling quick start-up, rolling back audio drivers, changing sound hz settings in windows, changing power performance settings, even reseating the RTX 3090 etc... and nothing I do fixes it. I've been at it for 4 days straight and am pulling my hair out! Do you have any issues with sound popping/crackling with this MB? I need help!

As an ex-server engineer, all I can say is “step away from the Bios setting unless you know what you are doing” But if you watch this video from Mike, I think you will KNOW what you are doing. Just bought it last month after recommended by you. I discovered two things in this motherboard: 1. If you place a pcie 4 graphics card then the second m.2 slot is disabled. 2. I inserted a SATA m.2 in The nvme 4 slot. To my surprise it worked 😊 Its been over a month since it booting from m.2 SATA in nvme 4 slot :)

The disabling of the second M.2 slot in this board is mentioned in the manual, and other tech KZbinrs have also commented on it. It is a drawback, but I don't see myself getting both a brand new graphics card and a second nvme drive. Also, unless I'm mistaken, SATA M.2 drives have a 2 notches in the interface end. This means they can physically fit in nvme M.2 slots, whereas nvme drives won't fit in SATA M.2 slots because they will get caught by the lack of the second notch.

@@DavidLee-df888 The manual is silent on the terms of a pcie 4 graphics card. If that installed it doesn't say that second port is disabled. Also, the manual says that the nvme 4 is backwards compatible with pcie 3, not SATA, yet it's working for me 😊

@@szubinmehta Even though it's as clear as mud, it is there in the manual. The chart on the lower half of page 30 lists the M.2 and PCIe slot combinations allowed. And bullet points above do seem to say what is available. I will admit it is not easy to interpret. Of course, the KitGuru review a few months ago explained it better than the manual. So, I will agree with you. Unless you know exactly how the PCIe lanes are arranged on this particular board, you will not be able to have say a 3080, and 2 SSDs.

I really do like the MSI BIOS. My server has an MSI mobo (and an Intel CPU.....there I said it) and its never been any bother at all, even when I use the OC Genie. Very thorough video Mike, think you covered every single option there. Keep them coming :-)

Nice one, Mike. I have an almost identical setup to this, only a 512GB drive instead of your 1TB. As you suggest, I have left most of the settings on Auto. And the BIOS is a bit older, but it works and the last thing I need is to bork the system with a failed update. But next time I feel the urge to muck about on booting, I'll have a better idea what all the settings do. And finally, I was in Booker in Speedwell last Tuesday afternoon, but I don't think I saw you on my drive through Downend on the way back home! Look forward to another guided tour of East Bristol. hmm difficult to say now as pricing is pretty awful. The Silverstone PSU i reviewed ages ago is a good choice. I am using mine with the RX5700XT as we speak and it works great and price wise is still not stupid expensive. Take a look at the review and see what you think

Trooper I recommend a quality Seasonic PSU. Just use Newegg.com to spec out a PSU that has 2 dedicated PCI-E Connectors. Newegg is not always the most ideal place to purchase from, but it is just about the best place to spec out hardware as they usually provide more information and pictures than any other source. Sometimes it's even easier to find the products info on newegg,com than it is on the manufacturers own product page. Newegg has their own photographer so sometimes you see images from different angles that the products maker left out, or didn't want you to see....🤔

OMG this is so complicated! I just finished my first build ever... I used this mobo and a ryzen 5600g APU. It's really fast but I'm experiencing some issues in the games I've tried. I'm thinking I'm got the settings a bit screwy but this is making my head hurt. I loaded Valheim to test and it's horrible laggy... it's unplayable. This game should run like lightning on this build... what's going on?

yes it seems to be. Also in BIOS a lot of the power saving features are disabled. In Windows it reduces it as necessary

possibly one of the BEST b550 boards MADE TO DATE but one exception thats KILLING this board from TRUELY being a king, thats the voltage option for CPU_VDDP no not VDDP or CLDO_VDDP as those two are the same thing which are for the PHY interface for ram. (CPU_VDDP) is a big help when overclocking ram beyond 4000mhz or overclocking ram at all. to which the BIOS to date or any previous has not had this option unlocked as MSI states its only for INTIGRATED graphics which is false as other board makers have this option unlocked or unhidden.

The general rule is if it ain’t broke don’t fix it. But if you are running into issues with stability or when running benchmarks it seems a little off the mark then it can be sometimes addressed with a bios update

I have the exact same board with a RYZEN 5 3600XT, I was concerned about the temps because it was getting hotter than I like in normal use, I reduced the voltage to 1.300v and stopped it over boosting until I sort out a better cooler than the Wraith Prism.

Odd naming for the ability for PXE/IP4 booting, but seems like every company and BIOS/UEFI likes to use non standard wording for everything... because they suck. Restore after power loss, keep that to system OFF. Not good when power goes from on to off while the power company fixes something somewhere. GOP information basically provides dirt on the United States republican party members 😄. Luckily for me I don't overclock anymore. I just need to go in there to enable XMP and very few other things. I also need CSM for my multiboot USB Stick till I move to a UEFI only solution. With todays boost clocks making the CPU speeds more dynamic, I don't feel the need. It's basically overclocking done by the manufacturer and is covered under warranty and meets spec. Is it redlined to the bleeding edge? No. But like you said here Mike, I am more interested in stability and longevity. I don't even use PBO. Why wasn't I listed in your BIOS' Miscellaneous items section? Perplexing... 😃. They need to add a feature to the fan curve that can read from the GPU temp sensor, in case you want to use that as the decider for fan RPM adjustment. My Zen+ 2600 is chilly compared to the 2060 Super which also runs pretty cool most of the time. This whole video hurts my feelings because I'm relegated to the LITE BIOS. My BIOS chips too small for the Click BIOS. I'm a non MAX MSI loser 😪. We'll see what happens when I'm on my next machine, whether that's AM5, some new ARM RISC thing, or GhostAdder level blasphemous Intel build. Nice walkthrough Mike and the time stamps are going to help a ton of people who just wanna get the gist of something quickly. If you made it to the end of my paragraph (shame on you), have a nice day... time to shovel and shovel and shovel and shovel snow 😞.

you could use more than 1 gpu but at best you would be looking at sharing the bandwidth of the PCIe lanes across the slots so it won't be as fast

Hello my friend, I was looking on how to adjust PCI settings to gen 3.0 for my second slot. I have a GPU in the top slot and a 4k60 pro Capture card in the second slot but the motherboard is not picking it up. The only thing I have found is to change the settings to the PCI to a gen 3.0 or 2.0. If that doesn't work then the last option is that the motherboard has a PCI limiter on it. I currently run two M2. drives, a GPU and and additional 5 usb slot config. so adding a capture card might be too much if there is a limiter.

Can you show us a test of 3400g/1600AF/2600 type CPUs to see which B550 gaming edge bios they still work with? I'm currently running a 1600AF with my B550 Tomahawk and still working with bios AMD AGESA ComboAm4v2PI 1.0.8.1. wondering what newer bios I can upgrade to before support is dropped for my 1600AF (if it ever is), thanks in advance

I have the exact same mobo and the exact same processor. I am running Win 10 Pro 64bit. Its a fresh build system. When I try to install Dragon Center s/w, I get a BSOD and system goes to BIOS. When you exit from BIOS, it repeats the cycle. I noticed that M2_1 SSD disappears (which is my boot drive) After I power-off and on again, I am able to see the SSD and go up to windows screen but it crashes again. So, I have to power-off and on the system & that's how with help of UEFI USB I re-install windows and come back to normal. I tried installing Dragon center twice and same issue occurred. Any help here is greatly appreciated.

Yes sir I'm having a tuff time with the cou boost and xmp profile and game boost I'm running 2666 mhz my CPU chip is intel i5 tenth generation when I started setting the mother board the CPU and xmp profile are black I can't activate that I need help

some intel processors won't do xmp speeds so look on the intel page look for the fastest supported DDR4 speed and then enable XMP but change the frequency to the supported one and see if it boots

start with resetting the CMOS to the factory defaults to restore the normal USB port function

Hey Mike, I touch profile 1 to change my ram speed to how it should. I'm not sure if I touch bios 2 but both profile 1 and 2 for a-xmp setting is identical. I'm thinking about turning off profile 2? My bios setting for both profile is at 3600mhz and everything looks good on my bios for my 2 ram. My concern for my ram speed with techpowerup and msi afterburner shows 1400mhz but on task manager my memory speed shows 3600 mhz. Should I be worried?

I've been building my own systems for years now and recently bought one of these off ebay great condition for fresh build and windows installation latest bios and the wifi is on in the bios but no sign of it being detected at all in windows, it just does not see it even exists, even after installing all chip set drivers and wifi drivers, anyone else with same issue?

Hey don't know if you'll reply, but I'm running 4 8gb 3200mhz sticks, and my dram is stuck at 2133mhz, I goto the change it and save and exit and it doesn't reboot, and I am forced to reset my cmos, any tips on this?

it will depend on the motherboard and processor to some extent and the voltage etc when applying XMP. You could try enabling XMP then manually reducing the frequency to 2666 or something and work the way up until it no longer boots

Wow, that V-Core voltage is way too high. I manually set mine to 1.325V. I always turn PBS off.

@@OlettaLiano I wish you could save a fan curve from any BIOS version and push it to a newer BIOS version. Only thing that irks me after flashing a new UEFI version is having to put the curve back in. And of course the anxiety I feel expecting the power to fail when flashing.

@@jamesmiscellaneous The reason you can't save a fan curve is the same reason you can't save overclock profiles. Flashing the BIOS completely wipes out the old one to make room for the new one. It would be nice if profiles could be saved to a drive.

Have just finished my pc MSI mag b550m mortar just got new ram kit as well KLEVV BOLT XR 4000mhz but having problems with cpu the motherboard is setting 3.7ghz instead of 3.6 going over clook rate and the ram kit come unstable the timings 19-25-25-25-45 1.40v getting over 70 errors in memtest then blue screen doing test. Now I set 4.2ghz 1.350v and turning GMD Did other test it stable so I think something do with motherboard setting things and cpu
